  1. What a total cop-out,(npi), by the Chicago PD Chief at the end of his speech. He says he’ll continue to pray for this young man and his illegal acts, but NEVER did he mention that they are going to prosecute the sonofabitch! He also failed to mention how many man hours the cops spent investigating this hoax, and what it cost.

    Nor did he apologize to white people and Trump, who were smeared by Smollett.

    No wonder Chicago is becoming a third world city.

      I didn’t hear him “ripping the narrative a new one”, I heard him ripping Smollett a ‘new one’ for ruining the ease at which the ‘all blacks are victims’ narrative can been spread. The only intended victims here were Trump supporters…. and he didn’t even mention us as the targets of Smollett’s serial hate-mongering.

      Anyways, if Smollett’s phony racist attacks are not prosecuted as hate crimes, then America’s “Lady Justice” has unquestionably disposed of both her blindfold and scales.

    2. The police can’t prosecute Smollett. Only the district attorney’s office can do that.

      The chief probably didn’t mention that because it was out of his hands.

      1. That was the correct thing to do on February 1. Take his allegations seriously.

        1. It was fraudulent from the beginning and everyone with an iota of common sense knew it. The Chicago PD burned themselves by trying to make themselves look good.

          1. I suspected it was fraudulent but I didn’t know for sure, and neither could have anyone else. The Chicago police did it right.

  2. I’ve been reminiscing about 1968 and the Chicago Westside riots. Not to be overly dramatic, I shudder at how reckless Smollett was. I would imagine that if this claim was ginned up enough someone would have been hurt, an innocent person in retribution or CPD personnel.
    What, if the next hoax attempt, is done by someone who is smart and competent?

    1. Yes indeed. The media party tried their best to stir it up so they could have more to report on and more to blame Trump for.

  4. It will be interesting to see to what extent the mainstream media rely on the word “alleged” in reporting on Smollett’s actions to try to minimize the consequences of his actions.

  5. I worry that the police chief may have prejudiced a trial by declaring guilt at this press conference. The lawyers must be ecstatic at being given a defence (er, defense, y’all).

    Like I said before, watching the fools who supported him trip over the tongues now is an amazing and amusing sight to behold.

  15. dukmn: This is exactly what I was thinking. Animosity and victimhood are the essential fuels of identity politics, and when there isn’t enough of the real thing, the practitioners have to invent it and gin it up in order to keep the show going, all the while claiming to want to eliminate the very thing they’re fomenting. Liberals and “progressives” are quick to ramp up these obviously fake incidents because they’re all they’re left with. Along with these they have to promote the importation of the most socially disruptive elements possible (e.g. ISIS jihadists and radical islamists) in order to attack the social cohesion of the society they inhabit so as to breed the suspicion and mistrust they need. In Canada they need to play favourites with one region over another in order to divide the country into factions which would not otherwise exist. Identity politics is the nasty, vicious, unscrupulous poor cousin used by leftists to replace the class warfare which they desperately want but recognize has so miserably failed to materialize in their dystopian dreams.

    That’s a forlorn hope. The silence from the mainstream media, lefty politicians and celebrities will be deafening.
