  1. The (in)justice court system in the UK will soon hire the disadvantaged fellow to affirmstively relocate more door knockers.

  2. I was surprised to learn that this is an ongoing problem in Malta and the overall region. So, why do they do it?

People are stealing door knockers in Malta primarily because they are highly valuable cultural artifacts, antiques, and premium metals that can be sold for significant money. Known locally as il-ħabbata, these traditional knockers have faced a string of high-profile thefts from historic residential facades.

So, apparently, Malta is so well known for it’s door knockers that they have compartmentalized them with a specific name (il-habbata). The knockers in the video have a green tint to them, so I’m guessing Brass (maybe copper)

  3. There are people who will steal -anything- if they can. Steal it, carry it for blocks, then dump it for something else that caught their eye.

They pry the metal plaques off graves and monuments too. Stuff that’s been there 500 years, undisturbed through fire, flood, war, plague. Stolen by morons and dumped or sold for scrap.

Used to be that the morons would get tossed in jail and learn to stop doing it. But not anymore, I guess.

  4. just before l sold my place in the biggest hicktown in Canaduh, the crackhead set stole
every bicycle l owned. even my brand new raliegh 10 speed purchased in 1978.

l started seeing these pathetics shooting up in public 1st time ever and got scolded for gawking in disbelief. fine. kill yourselves in some remote corner.
there l said it. my hippie generation the worst l heard was ‘get a haircut’.
now its ‘run hes got a knife’
    take your pick.

  5. Brass, bronze and copper are worth a few dollars a pound. About 30? years ago I read that in London drug addicts were unscrewing the bronze numbers from house and apartment doors to get enough money for a fix.
