  1. This is interesting…

**Smollett’s mom, Janet Smollett, is reportedly good friends with 1960s radical Angela Davis, and Davis mentored the young Jussie throughout much of his life. Davis, a communist, is a political celebrity on the far left, with an image second only to that of Che Guevara.**

    And then this….?

**As I noted here a couple days ago, Nasheed’s series of tweets raised suspicions that the hoax had a political nexus, quite likely from Democratic politicians, informed by gay special interests promoting their agenda. He said he was tipped off by the fact that shortly before the attack, there was an “anti-lynching” law on the table sponsored by Democrats Kamala Harris and Cory Booker, both of whom are running for president, and at the last minute, some language specifying homophobia was added to the bill. He was suspicious that the whole Smollett attack might have been a staged set-up to get the largely irrelevant law passed with Harris and Booker racking up points with voters. After all, when exactly did the last lynching in the U.S. occur, and aren’t there murder laws already on the books?

Then the phony attack on gay and black actor Smollett happened, and now it seems to have blown up in their faces, exposed as a hoax.**

    1. Any SDA readers remember the old “Network” movie — a rather wild, satirical film starring William Holden and Faye Dunnaway? The film hit many worthy targets, but one tiny sub-plot involved an Angela Davis character, spouting Marxist BS at the beginning of the film, but where she slowly gravitates to a greedy money-hungry journalist by the end of the film. Hilarious.

    2. This was obviously Trump’s fault, poor Jussie couldn’t find a way to stop the ringing in his ears from the racist dog whistles.
Seriously, along with his legal troubles, this man has some underlying and very serious problem for which he should get help.
But, it doesn’t mitigate his dishonesty, wasting of police resources, or his outright milking of this false affair.
OTOH, we got to watch the unintelligentsia once again makes fools of themselves rushing to judgment; that was amusing.

  2. Another foreign oil company says it’s getting out of the Canadian oilsands.

Oklahoma City-based Devon Energy Corp. announced after markets closed Tuesday that it will pursue the “separation” of its Canadian assets and its Barnett Shale holdings in Texas from its core business.

    https://calgarysun.com/commodities/energy/u-s-based-devon-energy-says-it-intends-to-exit-canadian-oilsands-sector/wcm/37d1f199-1d28-4788-a106-560476356e91

PM Butts is still winning. The Alberta energy resource industry is dying a slow death buy a thousand cuts.

    1. C’mon folks get real. If the government stops you from getting your oil to market, it’s not economically viable, that’s just the way the free market works. Taxing things to where nobody can afford them, or anything, is obviously “what Canadians want.”

If we bring crude in from other continents and across oceans instead of leaving ours in the ground, I mean pipelining it to eastern refineries, we’re doing our part to combat climate change.

Mr. Trudeau is focused on more important things anyway, like the next expensive taxpayer funded IPCC vacation, I mean conference, for us and our friends, I mean advisors.

We’ll have plenty of new taxes, I mean news, to share with our Liberal friends, sorry, Canadians, when “we’re back.”

      1. Mr. Trudeau despises rural male workers, those who work outside of indoor offices. He thinks they disrupt the social way of life in rural areas. Better to meet with justice officials to suborn the the AG’s prosecution of SNC Lavalin.

      2. I guess Groper issuing a statement yesterday calling some members of the convoy racist, wouldn’t go over well if he showed up. To be fair he was pretty busy getting the second reading of the indian languages bill passed, and announcing 600 million dollars for indian housing in urban areas.

      3. I am disgusted that Trudeau did not bother to meet with the convoy that had travelled so far. Someone should ask him why. Yet, he has plenty of time to greet new arrivals at the airport, meets with Joshua Boyle, chase around the country to attend gay parades, etc. Even if he did not want to greet them in front of cameras, he could have privately met a delegation. He could also have sent out one of his ministers. Trudeau is a traitor in my view. And so is any Albertan who dares to vote Liberal. I have no respect for the Liberals.

          1. I don’t believe a single Liberal was out there, although I did not read all of the reports, so perhaps I am wrong. Any high-profile Liberal would have been prominently covered. Clearly, Alberta, the oil sector and energy jobs are of little interest to this crew. That is not how a federal government should behave. In fact, it is shameful and contributes to division across the country.

  3. If those two muscle beach boys wanted to hang a whuppin on this little limpie, he would have been a little more broken up than he was. only a moron or a liberal would have believed this BS from the start.

    1. The best comment I have read so far. ” The first time a North American has scammed two Nigerians”.

  4. The gay Milli Vanilli !!! Ahhhhh ha ha ha ha ha ha … exactly! Say … I thought both Milli and Vanilli WERE gay!? Or was that just George Michael?

    1. Can’t she get a “deal” on lots of unused “high speed” rail cars no longer needed by California?

      1. I like what Trump is doing on this debacle. He’s working for the American people. FNC was on this story yesterday. I didn’t notice whether the Alphabet media reported on it yet.

If nothing was done then Cali ought to refund the grant for high speed trains from Barry O – or was that another crockabalone from the Dems?

        1. Not to worry … CA will offset the Federal clawback of funds with … with … with … Marijuana TAXES !! Woo hoo !!

          https://www.mercurynews.com/2019/02/19/california-made-345-million-not-predicted-1-billion-on-legal-cannabis-in-2018/

Oops … m-m-m-maybe not. CA voters were LIED-to about the “high speed” train … and they were LIED-to about marijuana taxes. CA has the DUMBEST voters in the Nation. Voting FOR every IDIOTIC scheme presented to them as the secret magic potions for a fabulous “progressive” future. Hmmmm … is it just a coincidence that CA also has the MOST illegal voters, er residents in the USA ?

  5. Student groups call for Ottawa to investigate alleged interference by Chinese officials on Canadian campuses

Any “malicious interference” in domestic affairs by foreign representatives here would be inappropriate, a federal official warned Wednesday in the wake of incidents that saw students from China angrily attack Tibetan and Uyghur activists at two Ontario universities.

But the spokeswoman for Kirsty Duncan, minister responsible for universities, declined to address a call for Ottawa to investigate whether Chinese diplomats are using such students to meddle in Canadian post-secondary institutions.

The request for a federal probe raised to a new level concerns over Beijing’s attempts at moulding opinion in Canada — even as Chinese diplomats deny they played any part in the two recent episodes…

…In one of the cases this month, Chinese students launched a petition — garnering 11,000 digital “signatures” — calling for the removal of a Tibetan-Canadian woman just elected as a student union president at the University of Toronto, as the student herself, Chemi Lhamo, faced a barrage of abusive online messages….

Given past history, it is hard to believe the embassy’s assertion that it was not involved in the Toronto and McMaster affairs, says author Jonathan Manthorpe, whose just-published book “Claws of the Panda” deals with Beijing’s influence campaign here.

“This appears to be another case where Ottawa should step forward and make clear it will not allow (Chinese Communist Party) agents to mastermind acts of intimidation in Canada,” he said.

    https://nationalpost.com/news/student-groups-call-for-ottawa-to-investigate-alleged-interference-by-chinese-officials-on-canadian-campuses
    ——————————————————————————————————————————————————–
L- “Claws of the Panda” – that sounds ominous.

Why would the gov’t. of China think they can get away with surveillance of and intimidation in Canada?

Don’t they know who Canada’s Prime Minister is? Oh, right, the one China calls “Little Potato”.

Rumour has it; that recent events have caused them to update his nickname to “Little Mashed Potato”.

The Liberal lawn signs this fall. “Vote for the Little Mashed Potato and you can get on the gravy train, too.”

      1. Then when he loses the election, or gets thrown out by the Liberals as Leader, it’ll be “fried” potato!

    1. “…where Ottawa should step forward and make clear it will not allow (Chinese Communist Party) agents to mastermind acts of intimidation in Canada,” he (Jonathan Manthorpe) said.

Should, should, should, If shoulds were woods there wouldn’t be a tree left standing.

  6. Yes, as expected, Trudeau ignored the convoy from Alberta which is in tune with his farcical religion of the environment, lamest excuse of all. Transporting oil on rail and roads is far more risky than pipelines .
Extreme environmental insanity has the potential to shut down the country’s economy with rising prices.

  7. What is the real reason Butts resigned when everything was on the up and up? There’s something fishy here, it doesn’t pass the smell test at this point.

  8. From today’s Globe and Mail, fresh off the press:
Robert Fife quotes an unnamed government source that JWR told Cabinet that the political pressure to drop criminal charges was improper:
    https://www.theglobeandmail.com/politics/article-jody-wilson-raybould-tells-cabinet-why-she-would-not-intervene-in-snc/

“Former attorney-general Jody Wilson-Raybould told federal cabinet ministers she believed it was improper for officials in the Prime Minister’s Office to press her to help SNC-Lavalin Group Inc. out of its legal difficulties, sources say.

The Globe and Mail reported on Feb. 7 that officials in the PMO put pressure on Ms. Wilson-Raybould to reach a negotiated settlement with SNC-Lavalin on bribery and fraud charges the company faces. In the ensuing political fallout, Ms. Wilson-Raybould has resigned from cabinet and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s principal secretary Gerald Butts has stepped down.

On Tuesday, Ms. Wilson-Raybould privately outlined her concerns about the handling of the SNC-Lavalin prosecution to her former colleagues within the confidentiality of cabinet, freed from the bounds of solicitor-client privilege that have restricted her public statements so far”.

Source: Robert Fife and Steven Chase. “Wilson-Raybould told Cabinet that SNC-Lavalin Pressure was Improper”, The Globe and Mail, February 21, 2019.

    1. Like Butts, like all neo-Marxists, the Liberals will do whatever it takes to see their vision of the future come to pass: breaking whatever law, enslaving the future with massive debt, putting hundreds of thousands out of real work, labelling dissent a crime and opposition hate-filled thus ensuring they remain empowered for the K Bec Nation while ultimately seeing the destruction of the rest of Canada.
Any Canadian outside of K Bec who votes for the Liberals is either a traitor or ignorant beyond belief.

  9. Our little prince is burning jet fuel again. No he is not going to Alberta to discuss the situation there. Groper is flying to Nova Scotia at taxpayer expense to celebrate black history month.

      1. As is standard practice in his election tour, he will be throwing taxpayer money around while there.

    1. Particularly galling when he could not be bothered to appear for a five minute meeting with the Western convoy. What a hypocrite — worst Prime Minister ever.

    1. I always wondered how Australia could be so high and mighty on climate change and yet export “dangerous” CO2 emitting coal to China. Now I don’t have to wonder any more. Must be the Chinese curse “don’t wish too hard for something – your wish may come true”.

        1. The Roberts Bank Facility near Richmond, BC is North America’s largest West Coast coal export facility. Most of Wyoming’s coal is exported to Asia through that port and Horgan’s NDP has said nothing. Six extra oil tankers per week from the TransMountain dock are apparently going to destroy all the whales, but all the coal haulers and cruise ships and BC Ferries and Alaskan oil tankers headed to Washington State are fine.

  10. The UK wants to ban home heating by natural gas in 6 years.

    https://www.bbc.com/news/science-environment-47306766

“The report, from the independent Committee on Climate Change, recommends these changes are made to new homes at first because it’s much more economical that way. They say it costs £4,800 to install low-carbon heating in a new home, but £26,300 in an existing house.”

The above statement in quotes is total BS. I had geothermal retrofitted into my house and 70% of the cost is in the purchase of the units. If you have forced-air natural gas, forced-air electric or forced-air oil the units just replace your older units. If you have electric base-board then, yes, it will cost money to install ducting. But I can’t see £4,800 for a geothermal system. Way too low. Brought to you by the “Committee on Climate Change” so you know a bunch of Monty Python characters silly walked into a room with a box of crayons to figure this out.

  11. From the “we’re all going to die department” comes a series of visual tools showing the horrors of climate change.

    https://www.theverge.com/2019/2/17/18223808/climate-change-sea-level-rising-data-visualization-environment

In one graphic, a 1 m rise in sea level covers the 20 m high buildings of Venice. The 1 m rise is estimated by 2100 (80 years) even though sea-level rise is around 3 mm per year (24 cm by 2100 assuming constant increase).

  12. FASCINATING, if true; I’d wondered how much more there was “behind” Kinder Morgan. Nice to see Scheer actually doing something:

    https://buffalochronicle.com/2019/02/19/scheer-wants-bmo-and-treasury-official-questioned-in-snc-lavalin-probe/

Oh and, the handgun ban has not gone-away; Shiny Potato’s 600-million-dollar Press are just keeping it vewwy, vewwy quiet. Could we get a little more light shed on it, please?

  13. Ahhh the Wee Bastard Pup out of Old Fidel wee Justina has fallen in the polls. He will have to dance nude on the pool tables to win back his support with the Soccer Moms. The world is beginning to notice. I think he has lost the protection of his Chinese Masters. Send in the Slack Jawed Drewelling Idiot The Cretin from PowerCorp. https://www.express.co.uk/news/world/1090392/canada-news-justin-trudeau-canada-elections-polls-latest-wilson-raybould-snc-lavalin

  14. It is now being reported 41% of people surveyed believe the P.M was involved in the Lavlin affair.Get ready to dine on our bid nothing burger. I look forward to the Liberals winning the next election when sensible people will totally understand the total insanity.

    1. The Admiral Norman case is far more serious than Lavscam for the Liberals and it is not going away any time soon.

  15. Another mass media cartel’s scam down.
Many to come until morale improves. Using “morale” very loosely, since morality in the media terms is a relative commodity.
They need to get rid of the big giant head that comes with the memos for the “news” of the day.
They need to do actual news,

  16. “Deported after toppling Liberal minister with fake charges, pizza-shop owner is back in Canada 13 years later.” National Post

This is Harjit Singh who avoided deportation for 13 years and then falsely accused cabinet minister Judy Sgro who he alleged agreed to settle his immigration problems in exchange for free pizza for campaign workers. The allegations were false and Singh was deported. Sgro stepped down to clear her name but never made it back to cabinet.

Guess who provided a vouchsafe letter to immigration officials for Singh? Raj Grewal. Yes that Raj Grewal. I wonder if the Minister of Immigration (Ahmed Hussen) was involved in readmitting a previously deported individual? He had to be. Once you’ve been deported you don’t just apply and are re-admitted.

Another librano scandal? This one in immigration. How far does the corruption extend?

As the captain goes – so goes the ship.

  17. Bad news for immigrants waiting in line to come to Canada. You have to have a real good sob story that Justin can use for public relations purposes. The Toronto Star is excited that Groper is going to make a special effort to bring in relatives from other countries for the parents of the seven children killed in a fire.

  18. Obviously antisemitism at the root of it…

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jussie_Smollett

Smollett is biracial.[18] His father was Jewish (his family emigrated from Russia and Poland).

    https://www.haaretz.com/israel-news/.premium-israeli-american-convicted-of-bomb-hoaxes-against-u-s-jewish-targets-1.6220106

Israel Convicts Israeli-American Hacker Who Terrorized U.S. Jews With Bomb Threats

The 19-year-old was convicted of threatening 2,000 institutions, including U.S. senator, Israeli embassy in the U.S., and JCCs; the fake bomb threats forced widespread evacuations and stirred fear of a resurgence in anti-Semitism

  19. I am intrigued to see what will happen to Trueau without Butts. My expectation is that he will fall on his face, unless they have arranged for Butts to whisper instructions from behind the curtain. Likely that is it. What is to prevent them from hiring him as a consultant?

      Peter Tork 77… RIP

This song has Neil Diamond singing as a back up singer. He also wrote it. I remember bits about the Monkees from their TV Show playing in the background at home but found the plots of their shows rather juvenile. They seemed to imitate the antics of The Beatles in the movies “A Hard Day’s Night” and “Help!” All pretty zany.

A LITTLE SILLY STORY FROM BACK IN THE DAY: A friend at school once said that her older sister and friends were going to see the Monkees arrive at the airport prior to their concert in our city. They promised photos. When the gal came to school with the goods she showed us one blurred photo of Mike Nesmith. It was a candid shot of him looking away. That was all she had. The onslaught of screaming teenagers didn’t permit a closer view of the famous group. I couldn’t believe the trouble people go through for a glimpse of someone famous for a photo. True story.

      1. The best song writers of the era wrote songs for the Monkees and many of the songs still sound fresh after all these years.
        https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pihm3DwIwc4
I once asked a lady I knew what it was that was so attractive and appealing about The Monkees.
“I have no idea” she said, “but that TV show made me wet”

      2. I never saw their TV show as the only station in the area I grew up in was a CBC affiliate. But, I did see their movie Head a couple of times. It was shown on TCM a few years ago.

        1. https://youtu.be/GKmPmZoKeP0

This song, entitled “Porpoise Song” is the theme music from the flick you mentioned, ” Head”……

From what I’ve read it has developed into a cult following. The movie critic, Leonard Maltin has said that it is delightfully plotless and well worth seeing. He gives it a 3 out of 4 star rating. It is now part of TCM Underground.

This evening I listened and enjoyed all the songs from the movie’s soundtrack and I am amazed how much they switched their style to resemble that of the Beatles. Of course in 1968 that musical output and movie was when the Monkees turned hippie and smoked the ‘bananas!’
( last part was from the ‘comments’ after the songs)

Thanks for sharing this with us. I missed out on this classic, as they say. I must watch out for it now.

P.S. Needless to say most of us were too young to see this in the movies where it bombed in 1968! Ha!

  20. And now some news you might have missed in Groper Land. The finance minister was in Barrie Ont today explaining to students that Doug Ford is evil. He is one of many cabinet ministers traveling around the country at taxpayer expense, explaining how wonderful the Liberals are. Media reports that severely disabled veterans are being short changed hundreds of thousands of dollars in benefits. But Groper says they ask for to much anyway. And the whiny indian affairs minister gave ten million dollars to an isolated reserve in Ontario to replace or fix 57 houses. Here’s an idea, move them to an urban area where the adults can get jobs and the kids have a future.

    1. https://youtu.be/F72RqkqfcCY

The Finance Minister should have resigned. See this heated exchange that touched a raw nerve.

Morneau displays an explosive temper disorder like that of the Prime Minister. When in committee he displays a lack of understang of the questions asked of him. He seems to repeat like a robot, memorized texts and looks as if he is facing a blank wall.

He must go. He is too corrupt.

  21. Mike Nesmith is considered the inventor of the modern music vid.
A very smart guy and a good musician/writer.

  22. Mike Nesmith “a net worth of $50 million”
If you can believe what you read on the internet 1/2 of his net worth comes from his Mom’s estate whose family owned the company Liquid Paper.
