Attorneys representing the Kentucky high school student involved in a confrontation that went viral on social media last month announced Tuesday that they were suing The Washington Post for $250 million in compensatory and punitive damages.
The lawsuit, which was filed in federal court in Kentucky, accused The Post of practicing “a modern-day form of McCarthyism” by targeting Nicholas Sandmann and “using its vast financial resources to enter the bully pulpit by publishing a series of false and defamatory print and online articles … to smear a young boy who was in its view an acceptable casualty in their war against the president.”

Attorney Lin Wood has 2-1/2 years to file the lawsuits. I think they picked the biggest, most obvious target first. I expect that CNN, NYT, and the nitwit networks will be next. Then they will get around to the individual idiots.
Or maybe they will pick a target in each class of hater? Wapo, a network, a talk show, and a few individuals. Punish them with discovery, a trial and a settlement for Nick Sandmann; then the other scum being sued will rush to settle and avoid the problem of legal fees, discovery, and bad publicity.

After the defamation heaped upon these young men they will have no way to get into a college and will be discriminated against as the liberal hive, “ higher education” division,takes over the attack. No, the claim must be large enough so that the young man can purchase his own university so that he has an equal opportunity to obtain an education, the same as everyone else.
The same should go for the other young men who were defamed in this despicable episode.
The court should also make clear in their decisions that the court will intervene if these boys suffer any other civil rights violations stemming from this episode.

If this lawsuit is successful (the WP ends up paying a settlement, even if it never gets to court) it will send a strong message to the MSM:

I love the discipline that short-selling brings to coroporations… It’s seriously THE best mechanism for holding large coroporations to account. Shareholder meetings are just dominated by the big players, and you get nowhere. Pile on the short interest and suddenly there are manner of wonderful firings and hirings.
Every journalist, writer and editor should be personally named in those lawsuits as well. They use words as weapons, but they should also learn that every pen has a double edge as well.
What I would love to see is a pointed and thorough rounding up of each and every reporter and editor from every news agency who reported and/or contributed to the defamation and persecution of the MAGA youth in this story and fire them from their jobs.
Then, they should have to join forces under one news banner, be forced to write news stories and paid on a commission only basis. They would be paid with a 60 day holdback on said stories, based on readership and honesty and integrity of their facts and bias.
Then we would see if they are true journalists or just opinion piece writers, if even that.
and dont forget SDA, lawsuits take ages. the attorneys specializing in same take a hard close look at the odds and evidence. the fact alone the suit has been even filed speaks volumes.
Well, yes and no. I’ve fought a few lawsuits myself. Some are fast, some are slow, and it depends how good of a chance the opposition has whether or not the opposition firm puts their A-Team on it, their B-Team on it, or mere articling students on it.
Believe me, if they know they’re going to lose, the firm settles out of court, and the bigger the public apology for the libel/defamation, the bigger the $ payout for a lesser apology.
The apology is what damages public trust for a news agency.
That’s why the plaintiffs are suing for 1/4 Billion, because they can get it.
