  4. Leftists are pervs. It’s the reason they latch onto “the environment” or “animal rights” as their expression of “morality”. As far as human interactions go … all is permissible. Impoverished Sex slaves -OK ! Underage child sex – why not? What do you think they are? Puritanical Christians? Go for it. Spy on the incoming President as a means to destroy him? Of course, they’re doing it … for the people. Their “moral equivalency” permits anything and everything frowned upon … by “the Church”.

  7. We already know that predators often choose careers that inspire trust and put them in close proximity of children. Priests, teachers, coaches, etc.
    I guess the very dedicated ones also choose to work in countries where the risk of persecution is slim.
    We need to start executing child rapists, now. Not to is just setting the world’s most vulnerable people up as a smorgasbord for the evil-hearted.

  8. Shall we start a discussion about “celibate” Priests? Of ALL the reforms made by the Catholic Church … this should have been changed long ago. Yes, yes, I understand Paul’s scripture about the sexless Priesthood … but he also provided that it is better to yield to the flesh, if you cannot truly be celibate for Christ. The Catholic Church needs to let go of the “superior Godliness” of a celibate Priesthood. The flesh is weak … so be it. Don’t pretend it isn’t, and don’t put your children at risk.
    I am quite shocked that the current Marxist Pope doesn’t institute this change. But then … Socialists permit the diddling of children, now, don’t they?

  11. A celibate priesthood has nothing to do with this issue. Paedophiles who target vulnerable children include the celibate and non-celibate alike; many are dutiful husbands and fathers (or, sometimes wives and mothers) who may still sexually abuse and exploit their own children or those of their friends. Priestly celibacy does not turn men into paedophiles, but, as Canadian Observer points out, paedophiles often see the priesthood as one of many ways to acquire positions of trust with young people.

Never mind funding Oxfam and the United Nations, we should stop all foreign aid and direct that money to the Canadian military, the Canadian homeless, the Indigenous reserves( water and housing), Canadian resources and industry. For too long we have been told by various governments, mostly Liberal, that foreign aid it is the right thing to do. How about someone putting a policy platform together and telling Canadians that the right thing to do is to take care of your own. When we have created the ultimate Utopia here in Canada then maybe we can export our largesse and goodwill and start saving the rest of the world, till then it should be Canada First!

  16. I dunno. A cheap shot? Is it possible to ever forgive the church and let them off the hook given what they’ve done? This is about as vile a crime as organized religion could commit.
    It would be one thing to look the other way if the church itself wasn’t complicit and didn’t tolerated the pedophilia, but they acted in lock step to hide it. From the Vatican to the local perish it was a concerted effort to conceal.

  20. Some would argue that spending money on indigenous reserves IS foreign aid, but I agree that the Canadian government should not spend a penny on any and all foreign aid and certainly not the UN. Citizens are free to do so with their own money, period, end of discussion.

  22. I remember as a child in the 70’s in Calgary, we were handed these little cardboard boxes at Halloween, for money to be raised for Oxfam.
    Justin loves this crap, like Kavitmakat or whatever it’s called, I agree his goal is to be a UN official.

  23. This is NOT news to anyone who has ever had any in-situ dealings with the UN and its AID agencies. Money is routinely funneled to pay for the lavish lifestyles and excesses of the few key staff at each location.
    I recall during my UN tour in Haiti that all the top canadian diplomats and the UN staff had very nice houses, with security, on nice hill-top locations where it was cooler with several staff, nice pool, etc. We regularly had to fly them from one ‘meeting’ to another but never saw any real meeting, it was usually just a party whether at one’s house or a private beach sequestered away from the general haitians public. They routinely joked about how nice Haiti was once you got away from the trash (i.e. people) and of course, the staff they had were always, always the nicest young things you could imagine.
    My colleagues who were involved in other UN tours all reported the same thing.
    Then of course, you have the major shi&-hole of the UN in NYC where the level of abuse and corruption goes to a whole other level.

  26. So please educate me … what is your objection to allowing Priests to marry? Tradition? Scripture? And no, I was in no way suggesting that only (celibate) Priests commit paedophilic acts on children. Yet it stands to reason there is a component there. And what should be stronger for a Priest? His dedication and commitment to God? Or his paedophilic tendencies ?

  27. Aside from deviating from the topic at hand to take some cheap shots, why would you assume that: (a) priests are pedophiles (b) that marriage would stop people from committing sexual crimes which it demonstrably does not, and (c) that you can even say this with a straight face?
    Abtrapper: if the Church was “lock-step” with these acts, could you explain why Popes John Paul II and Benedict XVI cleaned house?
    I don’t think you will.
    By the way, it’s “parish”, not “perish”. If you’re going to mount an attack, at least get the spelling, if not the facts, right.
    Historybuff: when the topic becomes Pope Francis’ failure to defend Chinese Christians, have at it. Make sure you throw in Trudeau and also the previous popes who pointed out the evils of communism to people who gladly buy Chinese sh– for cheap.

  28. If the two popes cleaned house as you suggest I guess they got the place cleaned up. Never going to hear another complaint or have to settle another damage award. The current pope must not have much to do when it comes to addressing pedophilia. He’s probably never even heard of it.
    I’m not going to get into a back and forth over the catholic church and the sexual history of it’s priests. The facts speak for themselves.
    You are correct about the spelling of parish. I’ll try and be more diligent. One shouldn’t become too reliant on spell czech.
