Where did the fortune come from, wasn’t daddy a lifetime pol too?
And you sure as hell had no part in how it was made
#Justin, show your taxes !
I’ll chip in to send The Child to Venezuela where he can teach drama in that Utopian country.
The reason for the lack of comment about Trump not disclosing his financial dealings is because Trump did disclose all of his financial dealings, as required, when he took out papers at the start of the primaries. What Trump has not disclosed is his tax returns (except one), which are not legally required since they do not provide information about potential conflicts etc..
The ‘silver spooners’ who run this country are certainly not restricted to Turdeau and morneau. Even tho their means were made by other family members should not eliminate them from being effective politicians. Wealth does not = ignorance as a rule of thumb. I guess my counter example would be the Weston family.
Actions count IMO. History counts IMO. The Turdeau family has no cred and I go back to the father who single handily set Canada to ruin. It was he who ran $50 billion deficits thru multiple years, divided the country by playing French against English and instituted national welfare thru Equalization. Those who followed Sr. simply continued the process or threaded water but ultimately sank. The moral depravity of Sr. should never be forgotten either.
Serious national issues in Canada have never been addressed in my +60 years. The country lacks identity and citizens take little interest in economic direction or national security. IMHO there is a high likelihood that Canada falls apart when the inevitable financial reckoning explodes.
It just shows how “sophisticated” our Prime Minister really is with an answer like that. He transferred his intergenerational family wealth using a family trust system that remains intact while he wants to eliminate the corporate tax benefits that small businesses enjoy.
As the line from “The Big Short” movie: they are not confessing, they are bragging.
Carl, I think you mean,
#Trudough- show your taxes.
Sadly, 1/2 of Canadians want him to show his tits.
The Spawn’s Grandfather, Pierre’s Father, became wealthy from running a successful Petroleum business. He was a capitalist and his son and Grandson could dispense with needing to work and became Limousine Liberals if not full-on Marxists. I suspect that the Spawn, being much duller than and cowed by his arrogant and strong willed Father, followed him in his ideology. His Mother was a messed-up daughter of a Liberal Senator which also contributed to his bona fides.
While the stupid crowd cheers; take from the doctors, give to politicians!
yes and now its in a blind trust paying him dividends. likely has substantial parked offshore as well.
the old man lived off it as well. its how you dont hold a job for the first 40 years of your life. strangely it was acquired by a buy out of gramps but a dirty oil company.
the empty hair has foot in mouth disease , but CBCpravda loves him to death .
If I were independently wealthy … I might become a part time Drama teacher too. After all … I wouldn’t need to work.
Reminds me of an old New Yorker cartoon, where two men are talking at a cocktail party, and one answers the other’s implied question … “What would I do, if I had a million dollars ? … I’d practice Architecture till it all ran out”. Sadly for Canada … boy-Trudeau is the practicing PM … till it $$$$$ all runs out.
A long, long time ago in a galaxy far, far away there used to be a country called Canada. This country was run under a political system that was based on a principal similar to the French idea of “Noblesse Oblige”. Under this system a person led a successful and exemplary life and established themselves before they entered the political arena. The reason for this is that the paycheck for a politician then was not very rewarding. But, but along came the Liberal Party in the Sixties under a leader with the initials PET and he convinced Canadians that if they wanted the best people to run the country then we had to pay more money to our politicians. The rest as they say is History. We now have a system that is being run by so many hucksters, grifters and con artists that it is extremely difficult to recognize a person of ideals that wants to bring benefit to the people of Canada. We have politicians that feel they are entitled to their entitlements, that because they have a political science degree they can dictate to us before they have paid off their student loans, that because they can represent a minority they should be awarded a seat in the House, or that because they can deliver a one line soliloquy, with the dramatic ums and ahs inserted, feel empowered to give their employers the Salmon Arm salute. In another age these schmucks would have been tarred and feathered and run out of town on a rail by the people who had been fleeced. Today not so much, Canadians have been so completely brainwashed over the last fifty or so years by the system that has been foisted on them by these ‘New Think’ politicians that they can no longer think for themselves.
Spouse of Doctor: Despite years of hard work alongside my spouse for years, now saddled with massive debt, along with employing 5 people and make the liability insurance industry wealthy; I have no interest in their business.
Dustin, you were fine with demonizing these people for daring to use “loopholes,” which you used yourself. Are you a greedy asshole like them.
No, you’re just an asshole. Sick of this hypocrisy double standard BS.
From the comments
“LOL…Junior declares the family cottage as a “wood lot business” so he can declare the expenses to run the place as tax write-offs…..classic.” Charles A. Brown

c’mon, now… #trudeaugetsit…
“i understand the middle class experience
because i drive a hand me down car.”

Best comment I ever heard on this sort of thing came from Joe Clark. Paul Martine was Minister of Transport and questions were raised about the ethics of holding this position while being the owner of Canada Steamships Line (CSL). Martin assured everyone that he no longer had control of CSL because it was being managed by a “blind trust” Clark commented to the effect that it was possibly one of those “Venetian blind trusts”.
… And the Kennedy compound is a certified … Massachusetts Fishery … complete with a cod-fleet (Royal Huisman, Meteor). The whole compound is a tax write-off … don’t call it a loophole … because it is an “agricultural” use. For the benefit of … the little people.
So what is the tax rate on the trust earnings – what strategies are the trustees using to minimize the tax rate? I bet that it’s lower than what middle class taxpayers are paying.
From the article:
Turdeau like all tax and spend lefties hides behind the word “fair” without ever defining what it is. He plays on the envy people have for anyone making more money than themselves. That envy allows them to “believe” that since he/she makes more than me, it must not be fair. He also says “wealthy Canadians” pay lower tax than the middle class; again he doesn’t define what that means. The average joe actually believes that high income earners pay little to no tax. The truth, the top 10% of income earners pay over 50% of Canada’s income tax, The top 1% alone pay over 20%. We have a progressive tax system, it is designed to create this type of imbalance. It doesn’t do anyone any good for the Prime Minister to tell people that high income earners don’t pay their fair share.
Unfortunately, it’s the way of all socialists. They’ll keep taking until the whole thing falls apart.

as stated above, justin’s “family fortune” is based on non-renewable fossil fuels,
essentially the rape of mother earth. when will pm selfie do the right thing and
donate these ill gotten gains to greenpeace or the suzuki foundation?

Thanks to Trump’s patriotic enthusiasm for real change, we have no Hilary. Enough voters shared his vision to get him elected.
Thanks to Harper’s visionless, libtard-lite-ism, we have Justin. Even I was loathe to cast my vote supporting Harper’s performance last election.
Since Scheer seems to be mostly just more lib-lite(It’s HIS job to keep the Kadhr travesty front and center in the public eye and HE is failing that responsibility), I think it’s time for a rejigged bumper sticker slogan….
Please God, don’t let us piss away the next Conservative Majority like we did the last one.
Ha, one more point. Until Scheer directly takes on the media for their bias and misinformation, conservatives will never get any real changes accomplished. A Conservative Party that does not openly challenge the faux morality of political correctness or the crass political bigotry of the media is ABSOLUTELY F^CKING USELESS to conservatives.
Thanks as usual, Kate, for the space to rant a little.
I dunno. You have to admit that these lines from the article are pretty freakin’ funny:
I believe him. I have no doubt that Justin Trudeau NEVER had anything to do with managing his trust, only an idiot would allow him to do that, and the managers of his trust fund are probably the best in the business.
I’ve always appreciated honesty in politics, but have seen little of that, just self serving lies and propaganda.
In the interest of truth in advertising,I’d like to see the Big Two Parties blend together into the Laurentian/Rideau Elite Canadian Club, and run candidates in each election, the Conservatives wearing blue ties, the Liberals wearing red ties.
Then just like in good old soviet Russia,(when they ran two candidates, both members of the communist Party of course,) we can vote for the candidate of our choice knowing full well that they both represent the same bunch, but the color of their tie differs.
If you hate Justin, vote Andrew, and next time,if you hate Andrew, vote Justin. That’ll fix things just right.
The Trudeau’s ownd a bunch of rusted out oil leaking service stations in quebek. Unsaleable.
So along comes the NEP and Petro Fina. Turned out these assets were highly sought after. Who knew?
That’s how it was explained to me at the time.
*
“rusted out oil leaking service stations in quebek”
wasn’t that about the time trudeau senior, instead of enlisting in the army,
was riding his motorcycle around the province wearing a german ww1
helmet and disparaging english canada?

A regular guy.
If Marie Antoinette is your idea of a regular guy…
his grandfather and father created petro Canada, golden eagle and f—-d Canadians out of many millions of dollars. He don’t know s–t from shinola and would starve if his family had not left him millions. He now wants to tax what his father did not tax and someone should put him in an institution, but guess what, Canadians are too stupid.
Multi Millionaires like Trudeau and Morneau trying to make us believe they know all about the middle class is as crass as it gets. They are hypocrites of the highest order.
Grandpere made the fortune in gas stations in Montreal, apparently.
TAX FAMILY FORTUNES FIRST I say!
There is no estate tax in Canada. What there is is capital gains tax on non registered assets and full inclusion of registered assets in income on final return.
The family “fortune” is likely in a discretionary family trust. Not sure why he would have no role in its management even though he is a beneficiary.
Justin’s Grandfather,Charles Emile Trudeau , was a lawyer and entrepreneur, also a philanthropist,a member of the Board of Directors on the Montreal Royals baseball team.
Charles owned 30 gas stations in Montreal which he sold to Champlain Oil for one million dollars in 1932,he stayed on as President.
C.E. Trudeau was a staunch Conservative and strongly opposed Liberal PM Our Mac.
The apple,in this case, fell not just far from the tree, but over into the next orchard,as Pierre flirted with the CCF,then decided they would never form government, and wisely (for him) joined up with the Liberals.
We have seen SO many Canadian families where the descendants of the originators of the family fortune let the family down, the Eaton’s, the Cohens of the Army/Navy, the Trudeaus of Charley Emile, who chose prostitution, er…..politics instead of business.
They’ve been quite good at it actually, got the top job.
The proposed tax system changes are wealth transfer from those who do well to the super-rich. Canadian sheeple buying “fairness” at wholesale prices. Canada becomes banana republic with a bad weather.
This is not a conspiracy theory, just look at demographics on pand how the money flow trough the economy. There is big miscalculation of velocity on the part of big money. In the long run greed always looses, while envy produce unhealthy results.
Thanks. I was about to jump in and say it had nothing to do with petrocan
Papa Trudeau had the franchise for FINA gas stations in Eastern Canada. When Pierre instituted the National Energy Policy (spit) he chose FINA to be the distributor of Petro Can. The Government bought the assets of FINA at an inflated price. I don’t believe in
coincidences. The Trudeau family made out like bandits on the deal.
“I no longer have dealings with the way our family fortune is managed.”
That helps explain why they still have a family fortune. If only Canada’s finances could get the same favourable arrangement.
Biongo Tooner
Lorrie Goldstein calls BS on Trudeau, and backs it up with real numbers, proving once and for all math is too hard for Justin:
“The Trudeau government, in defending its proposed small business tax reforms, has said the two-thirds of Canadian small business owners earning less than $73,000 annually will not be impacted, with little impact on small businesses earning less than $150,000 annually.”
But if two-thirds of Canadian small business owners make less than $73,000 annually, how can “more than half” of all small business owners be, as Trudeau said, “high net worth individuals who incorporate … to avoid paying as high taxes as they otherwise would”?”
Let’s leave aside Trudeau’s specific reference to “more than half”, meaning at least 51%, and go with his more general description when interviewed by Mansbridge, that “a large percentage of small businesses” are tax dodges for the rich.”
One of those tax dodges, according to the government, is “income sprinkling” where a small business owner spreads the business’ income around to family members such as a spouse or children to lower his or her tax rate.”
The federal finance department estimates 50,000 Canadian families operating small businesses use income sprinkling.”
Statistics Canada says that as of December 2015, there were 1.14 million small businesses (one to 99 paid employees) constituting 97.9% of Canada’s 1.17 million employer businesses.”
That means about 4.4% of all small businesses use income sprinkling. That’s Trudeau’s idea of “a large percentage”?”
Coming right after the 2019 election, assuming Trudeau/Grits win, is wealth/inheritance taxes, including primary residences with suites, rented or not.
Remember, as of 2016 the sale of a principal residence is reportable to CRA – to catch non-residents who don’t complete Canadian tax returns.
CRA will start checking any sales or principal residences for net rental income to ensure maximum confiscation of homeowners’ wealth.
Homeowners are “high net worth individuals” who will be the next “tax dodgers” using “loopholes” to not pay their “fair share” of taxes.
Except the Trudeau family who are entitled to be tax dodgers using loopholes, of course.

Where did the fortune come from?? From their grandfather’s chain of filling stations. And today, they’re shutting down our pipelines.
Trudeau’s a smart guy, he doesn’t want that Morneau guy managing his assets.
the number I read was about 52 million a lot of money then and now.
I concur as I see the exact same thing in my 60+ yrs…..
The Tweet could easily have been: ” I no longer have dealings with how the Country is run, I never did”
