  1. Toshiba’s not the only one in trouble. Sony’s been floundering for the past few years.

  2. Both well known to me. Never a happy day to see a client wiped out. Unless you are an Rachel Notley or Angela Merkel of course….

  3. But isn’t seppuku considered a way of saving one’s honour? Unfortunately, neither Red Rachel nor Merkel have any.

I still have allot of older Sony products in my home (They keep on ticking), but am phasing them out as they need replacement.
A couple of lemons around 2008 (TV & Laptop) put me off paying Sony’s high prices for an old and long expired reputation.

So have I. I had a shortwave receiver that lasted about 20 years before it gave up the ghost. The company used to make some very good SW radios for the lower end of the market but it got out of that business around 2 decades ago.
I’ll be inheriting some nice Sony stuff from my father, though, among which is a wide-screen LCD TV.
Sadly, I have agree with you about the company’s reputation. It was well-known for quality products, but I think those days have passed.
