The Swamp

C’est un grand marais.

PARIS — Christine Lagarde, the managing director of the International Monetary Fund, was found guilty on Monday of criminal charges linked to the misuse of public funds during her time as France’s finance minister, a verdict that could force her out of her post.
Ms. Lagarde, who began her second five-year term at the I.M.F. in February, will not face any jail time, the judge said. The scandal has overshadowed her work at the fund, to which she was appointed in 2011, after Dominique Strauss-Kahn resigned as managing director when he was accused of having sexually assaulted a maid in a New York City hotel.

  1. “Witnesses at Ms. Lagarde’s trial described a system in which influential, wealthy members of the French elite, like Mr. Tapie, had easy access to government officials and parlayed those relationships to the advantage of both parties, sometimes at the expense of taxpayers.”
Sure glad crap that like isn’t happening here! If it was, our ever-diligent press would be all over it…..

  2. Yes, yes, I was hoping you would post this item Kate!
Perfect title, says it all. The Swamp: UN, IMF, overpaid pop stars, NGO, Suzuki foundation, Al Gore, the list is so very long! Massive pumps will be required to fully drain the Swamp. Trump knows how to get it done.
They are all just champagne elites, think they know better than anyone, yet they are crooked to the core and mostly useless at what they do. They survive by leeching off the system and pretending they know better than all of us.
The Swamp gave us so many ills, including the global warming fraud.
Socialists, progressives, they all live and thrive in the Swamp.
    Drain it!

  3. The seemingly irresistible trend toward corruption from positions of authority will exist as long as those opportunities exist. “Draining the swamp” to reduce such opportunities means eliminating as many of them as one can. It means shrinking leviathan, something few politicians have been able to accomplish. It would certainly mean relevant countries like the US pulling out of the UN, IMF, etc. Putting a “good man” in a position of authority with great pay and benefits in a leadership role in an organization that shouldn’t exist will only serve to corrupt that previously “good man”.

  4. There are many alligators in the DC swamp.
Each gator will fight to the death for his own subsidy, his spending, his budget, his tax break, his job, his power, his agency, his pet project.
There will be much thrashing around and a feeding frenzy… tails swinging wildly… body parts chewed off… and blood in the water up and down the Potomac.

  5. SHE is a REALLY REALLY … RICH … Socialist. Having made a living off other peoples money … for which she created … NOTHING. Typical Socialist thief.
