  1. Thanks Kate, love this song.
Listened to this version earlier this evening. Annie Lennox has a few good versions as well.
I love the “old” songs. Listening to Willie Nelson as I write….”All of me”

  2. So Steven Harper was a bad leader for “imposing ” a 6% increase on healthcare spending . And now Trudeau is cutting that in half to 3% .And we have went from a promised 10 billion deficit to what appears to me to be 34 billion plus . And for this I see no substantive benefit of any kind. Oh yes , we have promised billions to fight climate change , to other countries , to the U. N. And thousands of refugees whose benefits are now running out , many of whom will now be relying on welfare . But we can save 1 billion a year by reducing the raise to a health care system that contends it is underfunded. But it’s 2016 ! Oh well it will soon be 2017 ! And we have the smartest P. M. and cabinet ever ! Yeah , we will go with that. Hope they can count to 17 .

  3. We need a mechanism in government where the populace can send a strong message to Ottawa, and where we can say, ”Enough is enough Justin, We the People are going to intervene.” Until that happens, nothing will ever change. It should have happened 50 years ago. Reform is about being in control of our own nation.

  5. The HarperGovernment™ didn’t seem to realize till it was too late, that they had to have a media voice cheering for their side if they wanted to do the sorts of things the SmallPotato™ regime has done with impunity. The HarperGovernment™ should have taken over running the CBC as soon as they had a majority, and because they didn’t, that majority was essentially squandered.

  8. Saw this moderately amusing bit quoted on WUWT:
“The English are feeling the pinch in relation to recent events in Syria and have therefore raised their security level from “Miffed” to “Peeved.” Soon, though, security levels may be raised yet again to “Irritated” or even “A Bit Cross.” The English have not been “A Bit Cross” since the blitz in 1940 when tea supplies nearly ran out. Terrorists have been re-categorized from “Tiresome” to “A Bloody Nuisance.” The last time the British issued a “Bloody Nuisance” warning level was in 1588, when threatened by the Spanish Armada.
The Scots have raised their threat level from “Pissed Off” to “Let’s get the Bastards.” They don’t have any other levels. This is the reason they have been used on the front line of the British army for the last 300 years.
The French government announced yesterday that it has raised its terror alert level from “Run” to “Hide.” The only two higher levels in France are “Collaborate” and “Surrender.” The rise was precipitated by a recent fire that destroyed France‘s white flag factory, effectively paralyzing the country’s military capability.
Italy has increased the alert level from “Shout Loudly and Excitedly” to “Elaborate Military Posturing.” Two more levels remain: “Ineffective Combat Operations” and “Change Sides.”
The Germans have increased their alert state from “Disdainful Arrogance” to “Dress in Uniform and Sing Marching Songs.” They also have two higher levels: “Invade a Neighbour” and “Lose.”
    Belgians….The Spanish…..
Australia, meanwhile, has raised its security level from “No worries” to “She’ll be right, Mate.” Two more escalation levels remain: “Crikey! I think we’ll need to cancel the barbie this weekend!” and “The barbie is cancelled.” So far no situation has ever warranted use of the last final escalation level.”

  14. John Galt,
Reform knew what the CBC was but somewhere along the way the group we sent to Ottawa forgot. Harper was not unique as Manning acted the same.
I had a chance to talk to the Leader of the House (sorry cannot remember his name, Vancouver Island MP) about the CBC. I Westerner had the nerve to tell me that I did not understand the nature of the CBC on a national level. The CBC means everything to Maratimers. I was stunned at the time. This was several years ago but I could already see the end.
All Harper had to do if he did not want to touch the CBC was to slowly starve it of cash and give exclusive fire side chats to SUN TV. Didn’t happen. Today the CBC wants to go commercial free simply because advertisers are deserting public TV and the CBC which had no real national audience is faced with a relevancy issue. No audience and no fools left to buy their airtime. What do you do? Draw harder on the public tit.

  16. All cultures are equal…
    ——————————-
AFP has gathered testimonies from multiple Afghan families whose children were abducted for the practice of “bacha bazi” — sexual exploitation of boys.
“Women are for child-rearing, boys are for pleasure” is a common saying across many parts of Afghanistan.
Bachas are typically aged between 10 and 18. Many of them are kidnapped and sometimes desperate poverty drives their families to sell them to abusers.

  17. I think it would have been extremely difficult for Harper to get rid of the CBC. Everything Harper did, every last trivial downsize was attacked by the left and the media. For a lot of Canadians, the CBC is a sacred cow. This is unfortunate, as it really no longer serves a useful purpose. Harper did give interviews to Sun, but Sun was also attacked by MSM. Unfortunately many Canadians are brainwashed and most of the media outlets were unrelenting in their attacks on Harper. Stacking the CBC with supporters probably also would not have worked. In general, it is not a good idea for governments to take control of media editorial content, even where the media is tax payer supported. I don’t know what can be done now to get rid of the CBC. Getting people to read Brian Lilly’s book might help.

  19. With a majority government Harper could have sacked the top 1/3 of the CBC bureaucratic pyramid and replaced them with conservatives. Anyone who didn’t like it would be instructed to find a piece of cordage and urinate up it. If he had tried to kill CBC there would be a public outcry, but ‘reorganization’ to remove all advertising would have been publicly supported, regardless of what the MSM bleated. Harper had power, but didn’t know how to use it effectively, and thus squandered a majority mandate.

  20. That’s hilarious. Canada’s response would be to raise the threat level from “we’re sorry” to “we’re very sorry”, and to “we’re very very sorry”. The highest level of “we’re so extremely sorry that we don’t know what else to do” would only be used if we were actually attacked.
