  1. Peace Keepers? How will that work out? Are they going to be armed for their own protection or are they going to be sitting ducks? Will they stop terrorist attacks? Goodale needs to hang it up, the man is past it.

  2. Canada hands control of the army to the UN despots. First peacekeeping mission to Iceland.

  3. If the Goodale Peacekeepers are successful we won’t be needing a military, no fights will break out.
Now if only they could stop the Islamic terrorists, I’m sure Goodale et al will be working on that one 24/7.

  4. Well past his best before date. The guy is so yesterdays politician. What an oxygen thief.

  5. Somebody please explain to these ignoramuses, especially the CBC, the difference between peacekeepers and peacemakers! You cannot keep the peace in a place where there is no peace to be had.
Oh, and I wouldn’t be too critical of his windbreaker, let’s just consider ourselves lucky he’s not shirtless.

  6. Peacekeeping?? And where on earth will he find an area of the world that needs peace keepers rather then troops willing to shoot. Oh yes I forget, he could send them to Israel to protect Hamas, the PLA and Palestian terrorists from the evil Jewish population in the nearby seized lands of Israel.
Don’t forget to remind old Ralph to bring lots of parkas and sleeping bags to hand out, as I recall that’s what his “dear leader” felt should be the role of Canadian peace keepers.
He is an embarrassment to my province.

  7. The self same UN that admits it has a rape problem but has done nothing to address the issue, imagine being forced to serve alongside nations that regularly rape women and children but will the ROEs order our members to look away and do nothing?

  8. Well said.
Actually Ralph’s iconic windbreaker reminds me of the Chekists always wearing leather jackets.
    rob, great suggestions.
So, we are back to handing out kumbaya song sheets to near savage cultures that do not believe in the Global Village.

  9. So Liberals are prepared to send our troops into African hell holes under foreign (UN) command just so they can fulfill an election promise and relive some imagined past of Pearsonian “honest broker”. Did they learn anything at all from Rwanda? Thousands of civilians butchered while the local commander tries to reach UN headquarters in Manhattan on a week end. Maybe this will ensure a security seat, but who would want to be associated with such a club?
Trudeau Jr and his hangers on.

  10. Every UN African intervention has ended badly. Operating an army in Africa without the ability to do summary executions means no-one will respect us and will be constantly testing us. If you don’t beat thieving teenagers to death, all you will have will be thieving teenagers. At best, if the UN wants to contract us to kick ass while removing themselves from the chain of command, maybe. With the UN in charge their will be piles of Canadian bodies and nothing will be accomplished. The weakness associated with peacekeeping is not something Africans respect. Africa does not need peacekeepers. They need warlords, maybe Canadian warlords. Anything less is stupid.

  11. To quote Lord Black;
If you have peace you do not need peacekeepers
If you have war you need an army.
Sunny ways did not work too well in Rawanda

  12. Hence, the moniker, Useless Nations!
The LIEberals continue their ridiculous ideology, despite evidence to the contrary

  13. So much of liberal policy is hankering for the good old days that I think they should change their name to conservative. They seem to want to cling to the halcyon days of yore. You remember the peace keepers in Cyprus. My friend did several tours over there and loved every minute of it well except when the Greeks and the Turks started shooting at each other across the back alley. Then my friend would put on his blue helmet and put the UN flag on his unarmored jeep and drive, defenseless, up and down the alley until the shooting stopped.

  14. I guess because it worked so well in the Golan heights, where they had Israel to flee to when the peace became a bit to un-peaceful.
Baron Black nailed it and so yet again Canadians don a blue helmet to pay homage to infantile socialist world order wankers.

  15. When the poo hit the fan in the Syrian Civil War the UN peacekeepers bailed out to guess where? Evil Israel.

  16. Goodale, a scum sucking POS lawyer. I’m not even saying anything about him being a Liberal.

  17. There is no reason to help failed turd world states in the first place. They build $hit societies because they have $hit culture and as soon as their betters from the western world leave they will get back to their $hit ways again. What West needs to do is to protect borders from migrants from $shit societies, and occupy those who are too stupid to benefit from their resources/strategic positions, and by benefit I mean be allowed to profit while eagerly licking the western boot. Helping some african $hithole is treason against Canadian interest. There, my modest program for international aid outlined for you.

  18. He was a snake during the previous lieberal govt and hes a snake now. Troops will be sent into danger underfunded and under supplied and when it goes into the pot they’ll be handed the blame.

  19. For over 60 years, Liberals have dined out on the original Peacekeeping plan, and successive Ministers have salivated over another possible Nobel prize if they kowtow to The UN and do its bidding.
Ignored is the fact that the original plan worked for about 10 years, or simply till the Arab countries felt ready for another go at Israel. At this point they simply told the UN forces to stand down and the 6 day war commenced. If peacekeeping were such a success, what would failure look like in the ME?
Personal aggrandizement of Liberal leaders should not form the basis for Canadian foreign policy.

  20. Let’s not forget lord black endorsed the idiot man child Trudeau. Which means he also endorsed his party and policies.

  21. I remember how the UN Emergency Force skedaddled out of the Sinai shortly before the ’67 war. So much for peacekeeping.

  22. There’s a reason why the CF operated under NATO during the Balkans “peace keeping” operations.

  23. Funny thing about that.
We North Americans condemned the Serbs, bombed them and prosecuted those we could .
Yet now we are finding out for ourselves the true nature of the people the Serbs were fighting.
Makes me feel a fool and am now certain everything our government told us about that conflict was BS.
Especially in light of the veterans accounts of what a cluster the UN ground operation was,how they were in combat condition and our freaking government lied about that for the next 12 years, at great cost to those injured acting on our behalf.
About the only use I have for Goodale would be to use him as ordinance.
He might serve the tax payer usefully if we dropped him onto some enemy somewhere.
So far he has lived the perfect personification of the life of a useless parasite.

  24. “Yet now we are finding out for ourselves the true nature of the people the Serbs were fighting.”
I was always on the Serb side.
Hitler was the last European dictator to make war on the Serbs. Not surprisingly, the Mohammadans were on Hitler’s side and still are today.
Remember the heroin tsunami of the late ’80s and early ’90s?
    http://www.sfgate.com/crime/article/KLA-Linked-To-Enormous-Heroin-Trade-Police-2932516.php
Heroin devastated Europe, and what did Europe do? The fought the Serbs who were fighting the people who were bringing the heroin into Europe.
Not surprisingly it’s still a problem today. A recent 2015 report on heroin and the crime in UK says absolutely nothing about where the heroin comes/came from.
    I wonder why?

  25. Ralphie is drooping in the jowls but the people of Wascana love him, he is there fro as long as he wants to be. There’s never been any MP who more obviously brown noses their leader more than old Ralphie, that must count for some special favours for his riding.

  26. Yah Ooz, the serbs, that whole area of Europe is full of a$$holes, doesn’t matter which ones you choose. I know a few who come from there, Serbs, Croats, Montenegrins, Macedonians, and they are pretty much all the same. The only ones I found to be some what different are the Slovenians. As one Serb said to me recently, they all fight over nothing, like the Irish in northern Ireland.

  27. This is just sending Canadians into harm’s way for no reason. Much better to pull the civilians (women and children) out of the area and let the menfolk fight it out.

  28. In Serbia in the 90s, our General MacKenzie wanted to close the Sarajevo airport due to harassing fire. He had to borrow a satellite telephone to call the UN for authorization. When he got hold of someone there, he was told it was after 5pm Friday, the office was closed so call back Monday.
Christie Blatchford tells story in her book the Canadians had Afghan bad guys holed up in an abandoned school with no civilians anywhere near.
When the Canadians called in an artillery strike, they were turned down (first time in NATO history), because some UN bureaucrat had changed the rules of engagement where civilians had to be even further away than before (don’t remember the specifics re: 400metres or whatever).
As the commander contemplated this nonsense and what to do about it, Taliban jerks fired a mortar from their UN protected position, killing four of ours.
Enough said. Different day, same idiots. Take Gen MacKenzie’s word for it if you want:
In an interview with CTV’s Mercedes Stephenson, MacKenzie said that when Canada participated in peacekeeping during the Cold War, the UN put dangerous restrictions on the amount of equipment, weapons and ammunition that Canada could bring.
“We will not adhere to those restrictions anymore,” he said. “If we are going to somewhere dangerous … we will insist that we take the proper equipment, have the proper rules and mandate and it won’t be developed by the United Nations, it will be developed by us,” he advised.

  29. While on the topic of UN mandated ‘piece-keeping’ mission it is interesting to see where the Dutch are heading.

Seems like the Harper government was acting too slowly in trying to turn the Canadian ship of state around perhaps Mr. Wilders will be more successful. Looks like the Brits, the Austrians, and the Dutch are about ready to pick up the Torch of Freedom that seems to have been dropped by the Canadians and Americans. There may still be a light at the end of the tunnel.

  30. Saddest part is when some of our soldiers are sent home with charges against them for defending themselves against a bunch of savages, as happened in Afghanistan.
I wonder if they’ll send them into Africa equipped with desert fatigues.

  31. “I wonder if they’ll send them into Africa equipped with desert fatigues.”
Rumor has it that there is some desert terrain in Africa.
Also, it’s easier to make light colored cloths darker/greener without ruining the fabric than the reverse.

  32. I will not be able to fault Canadian soldiers for being less than enthused about risking their lives in missions which have as their purpose headlines, self-aggrandizement, and pats on the backs at cocktail parties for Liberal politicians. I expect that, unfortunately, Canadian soldiers will have to die before the Liberals will withdraw them from the conflicts which they, the Liberals, never had any intention of winning in the first place.

  33. In other words, “peacekeeping” is little more that virtue-signaling by Liberal politicians.
If only a few soldiers die during a mission, then the cause is noble, the troops return home with honour, and the matter will be used in election ads. If there’s a higher number of casualties, then the troops are withdrawn because the mission will become unpopular, with the possibility that the Liberals might lose votes.
