What better way to nationalize an industry then using the capitalists own weapon? I’d be surprised if the NDP hadn’t game-planned this for years. Carbon Dioxide gives the perfect excuse to run up the bills, the contracts guarantee the companies get bought out by the gov’t., the citizens pay a tonne-more to ABPower, ABPower pays a tonne-more to the gov’t, the coffers run over.
This isn’t incompetence, it’s a socialist wet-dream.
If the interaction between a couple of our Alberta commentators is any indication, then bank on at least one more term. The Alberta right-wing appears to still be in stage two of grief, anger.
Good to see others catching on. Yes, the NDP has long advocated for the government to re-regulate or own the power system in Alberta. Next question is, what part is Nancy playing?

Only from the mouths of happy-faced socialists would you hear “socialism” being used to describe the notion of a provincial government taking over the ownership of assets of its own cities, a form of government subsidiary to, and chartered by, that provincial government. Centralization of socialism would be more accurate. Regardless, until non-NDP Albertans unify under any other banner, they can look forward to much more of the same. Given that the previous regime were essentially the biggest spending happy-faced socialists in the nation, what the province is really experiencing is PCs on steroids. The sophomoric NDP (dour-faced socialists) are, in typically incompetent fashion, implementing the green theology and watermelon narratives indoctrinated by the tenured professoriate of the socialist education system while the media wave their Team NDP Pom Poms. Beer and Pretzels.
The QR77 “conservative” afternoon talk show host was attacking Jason Kenney for taking time off his Federal riding to do a viability check on an Alberta PC leadership run. The guy actually had the audacity to compare the work that Kenney’s doing to the total goof-off shirtless Justin Trudeau vacation. Kenney may now be looking at a different level of government for a few weeks before deciding to jump into the race but his actions are absolutely in the best interest of his Federal Riding’s constituents. Even supposedly conservative media in the interests of trying to sound balanced won’t help the unite the right cause in Alberta. Sheesh.

Most of the split along the right is because of what I call urban bigots. They think that the rural folk are just too Green Acres stupid to know what is best. After all the urban bigots do believe in ‘progressive’ ideas maybe not as ‘progressive as the NDP but closer to the NDP than the ‘conservatism of the rural rubes. Thus the urban bigot loved Peter Lougheed and although they could tolerate Ralph Klein they wished that Special Ed and Alison the Red and Jumping Jim would have been a bit more on the ball so even the rural rubes would have voted for them.
