My aunt lives on La Ligne 13. She, like most of my family is French. French and Jewish. She lives in the Paris that the tourists think can never change. But this is not the France we knew. Outside her apartment on the pavement someone has spray-painted in black “Too Many Arabs”, while inside our family has been arguing. Le Bataclan, les banlieues, Marine Le Pen, burnt police cars, jihadi assassinations, the HyperCacher – do we smell smoke?
If we get one more failed president then Marine Le Pen will win the presidency, says my uncle. My aunt wants a British passport. This is hysteria! Let’s be calm, tuts my cousin. But the killings have already started, says his wife. Round and round it goes. Optimists, turning into pessimists, and back again. Are we paranoid? I am on the Métro to find out.

‘Are we paranoid?”
Shouldn’t that read “Are we paranoid enough?”
I say we send a few million BLM’s back to them…
..they would never allow it
I hope the french don’t repeat after the next failed president, “if we get one more failed president…” and end up chasing a horizon that will never arrives.
Coming soon to your country with surround sound and megga pixels.! Do not miss it.
Wow. Get that country some cheese.
@Steve;
A lot of whine with their cheese.
It’s probably nothing.
Comment est-ce-qu’on dit “screwed” en français?
Never been to Paris, so I don’t know if this is the norm, but what the hell is up with all the friggin graffiti on their public monumenrs like the Place de la République? Seems to me that’s also a hint to the citizenry that things are going downhill fast. I think it was Steyn who has said something along the lines of there’s only a thin veneer of civilization left in much of Europe. (In the States as well if you ask me)
You have to ask somebody between 55 and 99 what is going on , but , we are all really brain dead .
Happened when I was 54
If they don’t care – why should I?
there are innumerable variations in the translation – but my favourite is “foutu.”
When the citizens of France start to think of Marine Le Pen as a Joan of Arc figure.
When the identitaire political movement is inspired by Charles “The Hammer” Martel, the military hero, who saved Western Europe from the first Islamist jihadi invasion in 732. And did so though massively outnumbered.
Soon, too the legend of the Three Musketeers(real characters in French military history),with their “One for All, and All for One” will re-emerge.
They remember, Napoleon Bonaparte, who won more battles than Julius Cesar, Alexander the Great and Pericles combined.
A sign of La Resistance: the popular hero, General Christian Piquemal, 75, ex-Commander of the Foreign Legion was arrested at an anti-Islam protest in Calais which he joined ‘to prevent the decline of my country’. (dailymail July 10/2016)
The citizens loyal to the France of Liberte´,Equalite´, Fraternite´, are in the process of choosing who will lead them, both politically and in the current war, to save the Republic.
Having been under martial law for over a year and a half, with no end in sight.
Soon “Vive Le France” will so overwhelm political Islam. The jihadis have no idea what they’re in for.
The European Union, the Eurocrats, in Brussels may have surrendered, but France will vote to live and will fight as needed to remain sovereign.

LePen’s anti-establishment France first platform will continue to grow in popularity. She could win the Presidential Election in spite of the unlikely partnership of forces allied against her. If LePen wins the Germans may actually invade again.
what the hell is up with all the friggin graffiti on their public monumenrs
Not just Paris, but in many large cities throughout the world. The prevalence of graffiti is seen by many as the sign of a deteriorating civilization and the spread of lawlessness without opposition.
I doubt that any of the liberals will wake up in time to recognize their folly. They believed that the whole world “deserved ” the lives they had. But these liberals are so far removed from an understanding of what it took to create the civilization they enjoy. They were only taught to feel “guilty” for what they have. Well, they won’t feel guilty much longer … because their country is gone. Their civilization is gone.
I doubt that any of the liberals will wake up … ever. Their minds are made up and they don’t want to be confused with pesky facts that don’t verify their preconceived notions.
Liberals will wake up when the realize that there aren’t anymore safe spaces.
they will be too late.
The massive collaboration by the French with the Nazis was brushed under the carpet as the Cold War descended on Europe. It is truly one of the more despicable countries in Europe IMHO. I am sure they are one of the main reasons the UK wanted out.
Nationalism is often a reflection of economic and social uncertainty. Immigration is a obvious focal point. The French management of their economy is absolutely brutal. The EU focuses on the Italian banks right now but the French banks are not much better. A massive debt failure will likely quickly devolve into violence.
as subtext to the Vichy regime – france enjoyed a close relationship with russia ( tsarist russia ) for hundreds of years.
tolstoy wrote that a diplomatic letter to napoleon started with the salutation “my brother” in recognition of royalty conferred and was a desperate attempt to convince the little corporal not to advance his army beyond russian borders and addressed him as an equal to avoid war…
at the end of wwII – most french citizens saw russia as saviours (not the USA) and their politics are a direct reflection of this popular thought – it seems the french have a taste for monarchy/absolutism that continues unabated (despite the revolution) in its present form – whether it is to the left or right – see tennis courts.
i do not want to say anything bad about italians, despite their mistaken belief that trains could be made to run on time in a place a long time ago and far away from england. what I mean to say is that france, despite its faults, still runs on nuclear power.
having bla-bla-blahed until the cows come home, i think should say that your point about violence is totally possible – when you factor in european history.
