The renewables numbers are even worse when you consider the solar and wind numbers are based on *capacity* not what they actually generate, plus the numbers include biomass — a large percentage of biomass is actually garbage burning. So bilions and billions in subsidies gets you…..more expensive, less reliable energy that hinders economic growth.

    Huge amount of greenbacks flowing to the human gangrene.
    Power wise not so much, as Jurg Burg points out they always post nameplate capacity not power actually generated, which comes in at about 12% on average.
    So discount the green line by that and it is even more invisible.
    However the diversion of citizens dollars into the pockets of the politically well connected, that usually is under reported by about 200%.
    So the greenwash is huge, power output..not so much, in cold climates it may even be negative over 12 years.Heaters for gearboxes,deicing, installation,service power,rotating assembly when becalmed.
    Best scam ever for robbing the many to enrich the well connected few.

  8. @ Jurg, BP actually gross up primary electricity by a factor of 1/0.38 to account for thermal losses not incurred. This is a tricky concept but one that I agree with is methodologically correct going from TW to toe. And it is not correct to say that the figures are based on capacities. I have checked with UK DECC who confirm UK figures are based on actual generation. So you don’t need to call on those arguments to undermine what are pathetic numbers.
    But it is true that a large portion of the thin green line comes from Canadian trees burned in UK coal fired power stations. But don’t worry. Because of climate change you are going to lose all your trees in any case. So we might as well burn them beforehand 😉

The top ownership of Solyndra stuffed $ tens of millions of dollars into their personal bank accounts (in REAL taxpayer dollars) even while their idiotic solar company FAILED and went bankrupt. Obama has “enabled” a huge number of eco-leftists to get really, really, RICH !

  13. It’s obvious from the graph that the increase in renewables has come with reducing nuclear and a very small reduction in coal, but not oil and gas.
