The Conservatives have a real race on their hands for party leader. Michael Chong has announced and Maxime Bernier has relaunched his campaign. Meanwhile Kellie Leitch is upping her game online. Chong and Bernier join Brian to discuss their campaigns plus Alise Mills of Conservative Voice calls in to give her thoughts on the race.
Also on the show, David Martosko from The Daily Mail on the US political race and Adrienne Batra, Editor in Chief of the Toronto Sun on Sophie Trudeau’s tone deaf call for a “team.”
My experience with Chong is that he is basically a Liberal. Leitch is a nobody.
So far, only Bernier seems like a serious candidate.
Well Leitch has the perfect name to lead the Progressive Conservatives.
What about Alexander Trudeau? Is he available? He’d give his Brother a run for his money! Although we’d never get him to beat up an Indian.
Or Kevin O’Spacey? Are Stephen Harper’s kids old enough yet? I’d suggest Dief’s illegit son,but the bugger up and died a few days ago.
Change the rules, and let it be a runoff between Bernier and Rona.
Isn’t Michael Chong the asshole who embarrassed the party with some stupid airy fairy legislation? Why didn’t he run for Trudeau’s job?

I listened to Chong’s pitch, I find that I agree with him on a few points and disagree on a few.
He’s right about the need for a less intrusive state and protections of fundamental freedoms. I hope that he could walk the walk because anybody can talk that talk.
He makes a good point about one class of citizenship too. Revoking citizenship is a great “red meat” sort of concept but some of our worst terrorists both in the classic sense and the broader sense of killing at random have been born here. How do you revoke their citizenship? You send them to prison for life or hang them. I would rather not divide citizens into two classes, one born here and the other naturalized immigrants. But as he says, equal rights and equal responsibilities.
Where I don’t like his policy set would be on carbon taxes. He is making excuses for them and they must be laughed out of the public marketplace if they are meant to suggest that we can change the weather by paying more taxes. If they mean that we should not have new taxes unless we call them something we can sell to the gullible, then be honest and say so — you’re paying extra at the pump so that civil servants can have bigger pensions.
Otherwise, we create a science that predicts larger pensions will accompany falling temperatures.
Personally, I think the CPC can only return to power if it sheds some its harsher image on social questions and concentrates more on protecting civil liberties and individual freedom. The younger voters can be attracted by that approach. Nobody wants to be bossed around by elites, even if it’s just their parents.

While I have great respect for any doctor who chooses to enter such a political fray, my bottom line is that there is one hurdle all contestants must clear first. To get any support from me, there must be a clear denunciation of the carbon based Global Warming fraud as outright thievery designed to cripple our economy and impoverish our people.
No ifs, ands, or buts.
I think it is time Keanu Reeves returned to his homeland and ran for political office ! Then, he might STOP making so many crappy movies in the USA.

The next philosophical battleground will be the individual vs the all-powerful state. I’d like the CPC to be on the right side of that battle.
If the Conservatives are to return to power then they need to be pro-active in standing up showing the Canadian voter how Prime Minister Gerald Butts and his frontman Justine Turdeau are determined to enforce the Glowbull Warming and Carbon Tax scam on this country. Once this is instituted we will never see it disappear even when the fallacy of Glowbull warming is exposed.Remember that income tax was a temporary measure to help pay for expenses incurred during the first world war,we all know how that turned out right!
Before the Conservative Party of Canada elects a new leader, we need to follow Michael Chong’s
advice, and ”tell our story.” While I doubt that I would support Mr. Chong, I do agree with what he told the CBC today. (Notice that the CBC did not allow commenting on this story.)

Before someone can tell their story however, we need news outlets whereby the reader, listener etc. can be somewhat reassured that the Conservative story that’s being told is indeed accurate. I am 100% convinced that the number one cause of Mr. Harper and Co.’s defeat was indeed the inability to correct the inaccuracies that the mainstream media was blasting at the CPC every day, and throughout the campaign. The biggest lie that comes to mind was the death of young Syrian, Alan Kurdi, and where the CBC, Global and CTV led their audience to believe that the boy was indeed on his way to Canada, and that our immigration system had failed him. Subsequent news reports proved the story to be false, but a tad too late, and that was exactly what the Liberal media was hoping for.
Add to that the fact that the CPC is made up of a lot of older people who don’t all read online news and blogs. With he demise of newspapers and TV news, there has to be an alternative. How about a string of illuminated billboards across Canada that read ”F” Trudeau!! Twas just a thought.

I have no doubt it was a staged event for the media and the progs. Canadians are so gullible and it played right into JT’s campaign.

Yup. Like where does each candidate stand on property rights and free speech. I hope Brian and Ezra ask those questions if/when they get a chance – because Mansbridge and Laflamme sure as hell aren’t going to.
Bernier is already on record as saying he doesn’t see any need for property rights in the constitution. I wonder where he stands on our HRC star chambers? And the same goes for the other wannabees.
If any candidate does a Trump and pledges to halt mass Muslim immigration to Canada, then they would have my unequivocal support,regardless of the rest of their platforms. However, this is a pipe-dream: I strongly suspect that they are all in favor of flooding the country with immigrants, will repeat the ludicrous Islam is a religion of peace fallacy, etc. I therefore find myself less than interested to see who turns out to be chosen as the leader of the opposition for the next 10 years or so.
