    KENTVILLE, N.S. – Prominent Toronto pastor Brent Hawkes pleaded not guilty Monday to decades-old sex-crime allegations in Nova Scotia, where supporters gathered outside a Kentville courtroom to denounce the charges as outdated and unfair.
    Hawkes, 65, is accused of indecent assault on a male and gross indecency related to allegations of a sexual assault against a minor in 1974 and 1975.

  3. It’s been a tough week for the NDP!! The Sask Party decimates them in the April 04 election, Muclair is voted down at the national convention, Rachel Notley is betrayed by her own, Cam Broten resigns. That tells me that we, of sound mind and soul, have hope!

    Mark commanded our area the moment he shamed the libs over chuckling about the ongoing rape situation in Europe. From that exchange on, the libs in our pod listened and listened hard. It is almost irrelevant if they changed their vote, or voted at all, because their eyes said it all. They no longer clapped quite as loudly and stopped making cracks about what Mark and Nigel were saying.

  5. The Attawapiskat aboriginals are clamoring for attention again. This time it’s a ‘suicide crisis’. The only ‘crisis’ is that not enough are succesful. Anyone who WANTS to kill themself will.
    This is just another attention getting ploy, like Chief Porkahauntus’ ‘hunger strike’. Nothing but an excuse to get national attention and leverage more money from the government. That community has an income disparity issue like Africa. If you’re related to Chief and Council you live like a Saudi Prince, if you’re not related then you’re treated like an untouchable Indian serf. Most aboriginal communities are like that. Greed, corruption, graft and nepotism is ‘traditional’.
    Canada should do what Alaska did with their Native Land Claims Settlement 40 years ago. It dissolved the reserves, made the bands corporations and gave them a land base for income. No more special treatment or special dependency on the government. Everyone is equal, no racial discrimination.
    Canada will never do that because the colonial bureaucracy that runs Aboriginal Affairs would never give up the power and control. Making aboriginals victims needing continuous compensation justifies that vast bureaucracy. The people who run it are rich and powerful. Governments come and go, but the bureaucracy lumbers on. That’s who really ‘runs’ Canada.

  7. Time for a movement in Red Rose country. BC don’t want no pipeline. Qc and many provinces east of Alberta don’t want no pipeline. Perhaps a Sovereignty Associated Alberta would get a better deal in nation to nation negotiations?
    I wonder how many MPs an Alberta First Movement could elect under the a new True Dopian PR or STV system? Combine it with a new Alberta First Premier in the next Alberta National election and we beat QC to the exit.

  19. Where is there any common sense left in Indian affairs across the board? The money flows from the government of Canada to Reserves and from there they can’t seem to raise and educate their children without problems. Attawapiskat has nothing going for them as they grow, nothing for them to do, no part time jobs, no jobs period,. They are prepared for nothing but a life of boredom. Has it ever occurred to any of them it’s time to abandon these remote “reserves” where there is no chance of them being employed or making and living a meaningful life? When will politicians stop the flow of money into theses black holes and put an end to this sad mess? If they continue to do this they can take the blame fo all that happens becsue they are enablers.
    If the Aboriginals had any real pride they’d put an end to this themselves and stop the mooching which is proliferating all they complain about. They need to take responsibility like all people who have to work for their daily bread. Apparently shame doesn’t enter the picture from any of those involved in this disgrace, from the government to the Chiefs and on down the ladder.
