The partisanship of the current POTUS is remarkable, but not at all out of character.
Would any of us be more comfortable with Obama at the funeral if we were family members? Or would it be wiser to have this POTUS skip the opportunity to honour the life and legacy that will be due such a fine man of great conviction, character and clarity? The gravity of this stark contrast between the two is highlighted beyond words or colours and this just seems to be more than fitting.
Maybe Obama has had his own epiphany, realizing that to stand in the same room as such a heavy-weight, even as he lays in State, would overshadow his own petulance and immaturity as a man, may well undo him.
It is very sad to see a POTUS not understand that the honour and authority of the Office of the President of the United States of America has been so tarnished that it no longer brings what it ought, but now only derision and scorn.
