jeezuz murphy. I deplore the gun violence in the great US of A, haven’t fired one myself in over 15 years, but even I know the basic terminology.
I think these clips (pun intended) show how stooooopid many politicians are. among other faults, the vast majority virtually NEVER play ‘devils advocate’ with their legislation. like the 3rd strike law that has put countless felons behind bars for, wait for it, *shoplifting* on their 3rd conviction. and the hardliners harp “da law i’ da law i’ da law i’ da law”.
well so it is. and in that instance the law was an ASS, put in place in a knee-jerk reaction to the kidnapping and murder of Polly Klass around 1990. so they have to keep revisiting laws until they get them right.
but I suspect most of them are distracted and concentrate on the perks of power, NOT the responsibilities.

Well no. It doesn’t surprise me at all that the political lizard running the FBI doesn’t know the law. These people find the law an encumbrance more than anything else, I think.

Those who will commit major crimes have no hesitation about committing minor crimes. If someone has already committed and served time for two aggravated assault with rapes, then I don’t want them back on the streets at all unless they are now an angel. Recidivism being what it is, I would much rather the third strike be something minor to show that they still don’t respect the laws (and should not be out with the general public) than another assault or rape or murder.
Are you willing for your basement to be the halfway house after the parole after the sentence on a violent offender is reduced for good behaviour? I’m not. A predator in jail surrounded by other predators will likely behave differently than they would in the presence of what they consider as prey.
