  1. When it’s so hard to find it’s very possibly because there is no scandal beyond the minds of the elected opposition and their friends in the media consortium out to get Harper. This is their election issue, things that affect the lives of Canadians, like the economy and safety issues, are not something they can win on against Harper, this is all they’ve got. Yjey hate Harper more than they care about the country.

  2. We all should know by now the liberal news media support the leftists in all elections this is what Joe McCarthy warned us about leftists journalists like Walter Duranty and Herb Mathews as well as those who work for the NYT’s Washington Post,Atalanta Journal/Constitution and Bosten Globe as well as the talking heads

  3. One thing for sure, you can tell who watches Mother Corpse and CTV, when they parrot the nonsense spewed there.
My take, I hope DUffy gets screwed. Period. He is the one who ufcked up. He’s just trying the old tactic of trying too drag down as many others as he can, by not accepting, gracefully, his responsibility. POS media type, they ALL are in the same bucket, lower than a snakes belly.

  4. The reason you can’t see a scandal is because there isn’t one – but that is irrelevant to the concerted media narrative or propaganda ploy – innuendo is as good as reality these days, it is irrelevant if you are innocent, guilt by innuendo or association is enough. It’s a page right out of the Stalinist era KGB play book for propaganda technique.
If you say our coal seems like diamond enough in the media coal becomes diamond in the collective public’s mind’s eye. Conversely if you repeatedly say their diamonds look like coal – their diamonds are coal in the collective psyche.
“If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it.” – Joseph Goebbels

  5. Liberal Scandal: Party caught siphoning off millions of taxpayer dollars in brown envelopes by various flacks who are entitled to their entitlements.
Conservative Scandal: Party caught giving $90,000 back to Canadian taxpayers on behalf of Senator expelled from caucus.
How’s that for an election ad?

  6. On the golf course a few weeks ago with a couple of liberal friends when “The Trial” was just beginning. Both of these liberals consider themselves well educated and ‘refined’ whereas I’m only a dumb schmuck that worked as a tradesman all my life, so I asked them to explain to me where the scandal was! Surprisingly after the first “Well its the…..” all I could hear for the next three holes was the sound of …. You guessed it… “Crickets and the bullfrog in the water hazard”. Finally the senior of the two said “Well it was the cover-up of the whole thing.” I then asked “So every hen’s phart that happens in the PMO should be exposed to the Canadian public via the media, is that the way we want the country to be governed?” A lot of throat clearing and harrumping over the next few holes. Surprisingly I haven’t been invited out for a round since then, imagine that!

  7. Antenor;
The whole point of this affair is the opportunity to bring question marks to the Harper conservatives. Proving anything is irrelevant. It is incremental advantage. It can be used to bring question into other issues, again incremental advantages. The Liebels
actually stole millions of $ but $90K is actually more important.
I can only open that Harper has a agenda which will actually take over the thrust of this campaign.

  8. the fact that the NDP still owe millions for constituency offices and that the liberals still haven’t paid back the Adscam money has been lost to the press. .
CBCpravda all liberal all the time. I see some articles this morning saying third place is good for Justin as he will have the balance of power with who ever wins.

  9. To call this a scandal is so pathetic it makes me
laugh and ninety grand is a lot of money to my family.
What this farce has done is make me more determined
than ever to vote for PM Harper through our local CPC
    cadidate.

  10. Just out of curiosity, are the CBC and CTV mentioning who Duffy worked for prior to being a senator?

  11. Then we have Ontario’s Wynne diverting attention away from her own mess inserting herself into the federal election, running around supporting Trudeau, now attacking Mulcair. She’s burning her bridges and screwing Ontario further, that’s worse than the Duffy affair which affects no one but the star of the circus.
We also need to ask where she’s pulling money from to campaign.

  12. Exactly – the Senate’s expense scandal is a storm in a tea cup; and nobody mentions Mac Harb, the Liberal. It’s to distract from the Liberal/NDP policies, which are likely to screw the economy. I believe both M & T have mentioned a carbon (dioxide) tax – (let’s get this accurate), but the Tories aren’t banging the drum about it, even as Wynne is ****ing Ontario’s business sector.

  13. Good article by Cosh.
The PMO people acted aggressively to contain the Duffy profligacy and tried to prevent it from becoming a weapon in the hands of the opposition and media parties. As Cosh points out much of it was manipulative but no laws were broken. It was political aides scrambling to protect the boss which is their job. Mulcair and Shiny Pony need to explain how this would have been different if they were in the PMO.
Again, no laws were broken by anyone in the PMO and with the rules around this being so vague it could be a crapshot as to whether even Duffy gets convicted of anything.
Media party dreams of a Harper take down and resignation were shattered when the RCMP declined to charge Nigel Wright with anything (duh!). Nevertheless the media HDS hacks are still seething with angry disappointment and Harper will be subject to endless editorializing about ethics and control and “how could he not know?” for another week or until the trial breaks. CPC polling will likely temporarily dip.
After that Mulcair and Shiny Pony are going to have to offer something real.

  14. As far as I know several Liberal leadership candidates of a two leadership contests ago have still not paid back thousands of dollars of loans and Elections Canada has let it quietly die.

  15. I must recommend the coverage of the trial by the estimable Christie Blatchford. She carries water for nobody as far as I can tell, but has done superb reporting on the Caledonia fiasco, the honour killings of Muslim girls in Kingston, and, most recently, the Duffy trial.

  16. Yes, Mulcair and Trudeau will have to GET REAL, not sure what that would be with either of them, reality and the ability for reasoned thought are not strong points among the political Left. Watch for a big blow back when this circus leaves town, we’ll see who gets to scoop the poop.

  17. I;m with you Dastardly. So disgusted by the double standard by the so called profession of journalism, I am more determined to vote Conservative. The scandal in the Duffy trial is Duffy and his lawyer. By the way, anybody know who is paying Duffy;s lawyer?

  18. This is another media endeavor to create doubt in the voter’s minds.
The ‘ Afghan detainee’ hoax and ‘robocall’ were two other of many of their projects.
It doesn’t matter if there is any substance, there is a pot of taxpayer gold at the end of the rainbow and the Conservatives stand in their way.

  19. I can see the scandal now.
It is in the media coverage.
How do these partisan hacks figure they have any credibility with their audience, when they are members of the Canadian Media Guild?
Or that other one Ezra mentioned a while ago, the cosy little cliche of mutual minds, sharing a blog.
When I flick through the channels and see the same file photo and hear word for word the same drivel from self claimed”independent sources”, I have no doubt these presstitutes are sharing the same talking points.
    Investigative journalism?
Not from our “Professional News persons”.
The venom and spittle from these creatures go a long way to confusing their message.
Most people will just back away and leave these crazies talking to themselves.
Which is why they are always shocked by the only real poll.

  20. CT, you nail it with, “The whole point of this affair is the opportunity to bring question marks to the Harper conservatives.”
This is exactly what this is all about.
Antenor and Bart F give further evidence of this sowing of the meme “Harper must have know, or Harper must be involved”.
The filthy left tries this every election.
Everyone remembers how Harper was going to have soldiers in the streets.
If either Mulcair or Trudeau take the Prime Minister’s seat this country will soon look like Ontario. But then, that is what the left wants.

  21. Elections these days are nothing more than popularity contests.
There doesn’t have to be a factual basis for any issue real or imagined with so many LIVs voting.
It is enough only to make the enemy of the Media party to be made to appear unpopular.

  22. it was stupid to cover for Duffy, a stupidity that comes from being to smart and thinking up complex solutions to simple issues. Allowing Duffy to roast in a fire of his own making would have shown that the CPC will not tolerate abuse of the public purse by anyone. but the game playing has hurt the CPC with the same brush as the Adscam, even though they are not close, but it leads to the perception of guilt and corruption and that is all it takes. The CPC makes a lot of mistakes that feeds their enemies, but this one was handed to them on a platter by the PMO.
