This Is Not Your Grandma’s Humane Society

Stahl followed Aspinall’s effort to release nine of the zoo-born silverback gorillas in his care at his sprawling estate in England to the wilds of Gabon in Africa. […]
As the 60 Minutes crew filmed, Aspinall’s team completed a bridge to the unprotected portion of the forest. They then lured all nine gorillas, including a baby gorilla, across the bridge with food…

  1. That is earth muffins for you. Can’t fix stupid.
Part of this particular problem is that this moron has money.

  2. He could save himself and the gorillas he raises a lot of trouble by just grinding them up and selling the meat to McDonalds.

  3. if another subset of this group have their way , the gorillas would be classed as humans and he would be charged with manslaughter
damn silverback males. the same hormone that made me lose my hair makes them silverbacks and act irrational too. ditto for me.

  4. “Most of the evil in this world is done by people with good intentions.”
    T.S. Eliot
“Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.”
    Albert Einstein
    Aspinall is evil and insane.

  5. And that Dear Reader is Mother Nature at work. It is a microcosm of what we are doing in the larger, wider world. However you want to dress us up we’re all animals, and animals have to protect the area that they live in, and the area that provides them subsistence. This is how societies and civilizations are formed. Whether it’s a pack of wolves, a tribe, or a clan every member must contribute to provide the benefits that protects them as a society. What happened in Gabon in the gorilla sanctuary is happening here on a far larger scale, and most of the people are either too blind to see it or too stupid to understand.

  6. That son of a bitch should be left in the wild, preferably with a few hungry lions nearby.

  7. Aspinall is determined to send every captive animal to a death camp(aka, the wilderness). I don’t think he is an idiot though as he claims, I think he is a psychopath. I should send him a microwave where he can toss in kittens one after another.

  8. My experience in the wild is limited to the farm yard. At that as I watched this English idiot I yelled at the TV that his animals would not survive. It was the equivalent of returning my dog to the wolf pack.
It reminded me of stories by my parents told of English remittance men who were generally clueless.

  9. I watched this show. I couldn’t believe the “scientist”‘s attitude which was essentially,”oh well back to the drawing board”.
    Educated does NOT mean intelligent.

  10. Stupid is as stupid does. I guess it never crossed their minds that – if they had survived longer- this is a good way to introduce illness to an area, putting all the native population at risk.

  11. Perhaps Aspinall and his team should be sent into the wild with no food, clothes or tools and made to fend for themselves. Just for a week. If any of them are still alive after 7 days they can continue on….

  12. Maybe that’s what they should do with Kathleen Wynne. Parachute her into remote Northern Ontario with a backpack full of survival gear. Heck, parachute the entire Lieberal caucus there too!

  13. 60 Minutes one whole hour of LIES,LIES,LIES takea hammer to their stopwatch

  14. Dear Animal Rights EXTREMISTS;
Nature is NOT as depicted in Disney films. Grow up. Wise up.

  15. There is a story (probably apocryphal, but who knows with these twits) that a well-known British singer liberated a lobster and took it down to the water to set it free…unfortunately for the crustacean, this was in Switzerland.

  16. I have often marveled at the disconnect pro-animal zealots show between how man harvests animals versus how most animals meet their fate in the wild.
Mother Nature is a cruel, vicious, murderous bitch.

  17. The gorillas’ survival is not what’s important here. What’s important is that his radical political agenda survives.

  18. Sorry you ignorant darwinist idiots but humans and apes are not related and i don’t care about how much you hear from TIME and NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC and birds are not glorified reptiles as one ignoramus once claimed THE 1999 the dyno bird featured in the Nov 1999 issue of National Geographic was later proven a fake just like with Piltdown Man

  19. I read several Gerald Durrel books in the sixties and seventies. He would go to a remote area to collect animals for zoos in England. At first he would buy anything the locals brought him, partly to encourage them to bring more animals and partly because he didn’t know all that he would collect.
When it came close to time to ship his chosen specimens back home he started letting go the ones he didn’t want. He wrote that they didn’t want to be kicked out of their cages and sent back to the jungle. This was the first time in their lives they had had regular meals and nothing trying to hunt them down and kill them! It was necessary to drive them away from the camp, you couldn’t just open the cage door and expect them to rush away to freedom. The knew what freedom was like.

  20. Jesus Frigging Christ, it is not like this was unpredictable! You raised them in a zoo and
give them everything they needed. What did you expect would happen? This is Welfare 101.
If they do not learn to hunt and forage on their own, they are going to die when they are
released into the wild! Only a pantywaist liberal idiot does not understand this simple
    law of nature.
Somewhere in the jungles of Southeast Asia, there is an Orangutan rehabilitation center.
They take former pets and try to reintroduce them into the wild. The animals will not stray
far from the compound. They keep coming back for the free food! As I watched this nature
show, the idiot narrator was at a loss to understand why the animals would not simply disperse
    into the jungle.
Are liberals truly this freaking stupid? I rest my case with two words: Marie Harf!

  21. It’s weird that the cruel death of these animals – due to his actions – elicits only a ” back to the drawing board” reaction from him.

  22. Back in their November 1999 issue of NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC they ran a article about this so called Dyno Bird it was suppost to be the missing link between Birds and Dinasours(Fetahers for T-Rex)it was later proven to be a total phonie a fake just like Piltdown man(Piltdown Bird?)and Storos Olson the Currator of Birds at the Smithsonian called it Tabloid Sensatioalism

  23. Yeah well I concur about that feathered dinosaur farce.
As far as Piltdown man….just a 19th century Michael Mann.
The origins of Homo Sapiens Sapiens remains a mystery.
I concur with the late Lloyd Pyle that our rib cage and general skeleton is a total anomaly…..Neanderthal most likely evolved from Robustus….but regardless a bit of interbreeding showing in the DNA…no connection.

  24. Hunters did’nt wipeout the Passanger Pigeon they were killed off for the market and restruants likewise with the Eskimo Curlew which could still be alive but hiding out from the biologists
