Sun News Network is apparently shutting down tomorrow morning.

Exactly. PM Harper has appointed progressives in too many areas and that is because there are many progressive so-called conservatives in the upper echelons of the party. The old Reform/Alliance Parties are gone and have been silenced by the progressives.
I sincerely hope I’m wrong too, BUT I have the same feeling now as I did with the U.S. election in June of 2008, whereby I predicted that Obama was going to be the next Pres.
The Right has just lost it’s only TV voice, and believe me, lots of people get their information on the nightly news broadcasts, especially among seniors, who comprise much of the Conservative constituency.
Sun TV by it’s very existence kept the other networks at least a tiny bit honest in their reportage of Trudeau,as they’d have been outed on Sun if they didn’t.
Now we are about to see a deluge of pro-Trudeau reporting, watch your evening newscasts on all Canadian networks, you’ll see what I mean.
This doesn’t mean I won’t work hard against Trudeau in the election campaign, but with only about 30% of voters in the Conservative camp, and the ease with which the LIV can be manipulated, I truly don’t expect the CPC to win this one.
Add all the negative media campaigns with the senate scandals, front and center this Summer in the Duffy trial, and natural voter fatigue with a Party that has been in power for 9 years, and it looks to me like a majority LPC government.
The only enjoyment I will get from this is watching the expressions of utter disbelief on the faces of the Leaders of other Countries when the first meet Trudeau and wonder, “how stupid ARE Canadians to have elected this clown”.
Putin might die laughing.
They don’t APPEAR to be left wing, they definitely are. Heck, they’re all for killing off 130,000 Canadian babies every year and now are for killing off the sick, infirmed and the elderly. I’ve gotta be a far right wing nut just to get half way back to the middle. (had to correct spell check when it changed infirmed to informed but on second thought It would have worked either way)
SUN just couldn’t attract the big dollar advertisers. An ideal SUN world wouldn’t have massive subsidies/grants/protected markets.
Do you think for a minute that any of our Corporate Welfare Sluts – GM, Ford, Chrysler, Molson, Labbat’s, and the thousands of other businesses on the public tit. – would sink one cent in a news agency that promoted tax relief and open markets?
Jamie, I don’t think Ford was on the public tit but you do have a point, where would the SNN get its advertising revenue from? CUPE?
Don Morris, sadly, I think you will live to regret these words:
“The only enjoyment I will get from this is watching the expressions of utter disbelief on the faces of the Leaders of other Countries when the first meet Trudeau and wonder, ‘how stupid ARE Canadians to have elected this clown’.”
Perhaps the Conservatives should have given Canadians a choice. De-fund the CBC or give Sun News $1 billion a year.
Why do you think I’ll “live to regret these words”, JB?
Do you think PM Trudeau will send CSIS to arrest me for terrorist activities?
I don’t have a tv but watched SNN at a friends place from time to time. It seemed to be on repeat a lot.
It’s not easy for Conservatives in the Canadian marketplace. Here in AB the Byfield’s carried the torch for decades and then the Western Standard gave it a go for a few years. Nothing much conservative developed in the east with the exception of the National Post – in it’s early years. There just isn’t an appetite for conservative news on a commercial scale. Canada is a liberal country.
The good news is that increasingly the MSM is becoming redundant. Smart phones and the internet provide a wealth of news sites. Newspapers are barely holding on and tv with the likes of amanda lang and brian williamms…..
So, it’s too bad SNN is no more but on the bright side things have never been better.
crowdsource. I’m in for $100 a year. lets step up to the plate and do something – it’s all for the children! my kids anyway – those without kids can pay $500 a year just like in the real world. Would you rather my kids watch CBC?
Someones just extsiguished the sun bu the world will still remain bright
You echo me exactly. I don’t watch any other Canadian news TV as it is not worth watching, from any political perspective. The status quo rules from today.
I work overseas and am only home in Canada every 8 weeks, but I have really enjoyed watching Sun News this past year.
Sad to see it go.

THIS is the type of propaganda I’m talking about, the lead story at NN, predicting a Liberal government with 194 seats.
