For years, Harvard’s experts on health economics and policy have advised presidents and Congress on how to provide health benefits to the nation at a reasonable cost. But those remedies will now be applied to the Harvard faculty, and the professors are in an uproar.

The irony is stunning! Here we have a bunch of liberals campaigning/advising on just how healthcare – aka Obamacare – should be implemented – for everyone (else). ‘But holy hypodermic, Batman, we didn’t mean for US!’ Just for the great unwashed, read, ignorant. Jonathan Gruber, I wonder ‘what you’re thinking now?
LMAO!
Wait ’til they experience the death panels…
What goes around, comes around. Going to get me some popcorn for this “debate”.
typical lieberal whiners. my suggestions are for the great unwashed masses but I am too smart, good, enlightened to be subject to them.
“Mary D. Lewis, a professor who specializes in the history of modern France . . .”
Hmm, maybe by making some staff cuts in their less useful subjects Harvard could pass on the health insurance cost increase.
All I can say is hahahahahahahahahahahhahhahahahahahahhaha.
“The president of Harvard, Drew Gilpin Faust, acknowledged in a letter to the faculty that the changes in health benefits — though based on recommendations from some of the university’s own health policy experts — were “causing distress” and had “generated anxiety” on campus. But she said the changes were necessary because Harvard’s health benefit costs were growing faster than operating revenues or staff salaries and were threatening the budget for other priorities like teaching, research and student aid.”
This is the root of the matter. Modern healthcare, labor and tax policies, read LEFTIST policies, have made some changes. General Motors for example is no longer a “car” company and hasn’t been one for some time. They are a banking and insurance company that has a small subsidiary which makes cars.
Harvard has realized that it is becoming a health insurance company that has a school out the back. Too bad, so sad.
Chickens coming home to roost. Sometimes it takes a while, but they always do.
Two quotes come to mind.
“In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they’re different.” — Yogi Berra
“I’d rather be governed by the first hundred names in the phone book than by the faculty of Harvard.” — Wm F Buckley Jr.
So MIT has “Grubered” Harvard…? Well they do have a long standing rivalry.
Couldn’t happen to a nicer caring bunch…perhaps they will be more circumspect in their advocacy of government involvement with their lives.
Merry Christmas!

Now imagine the howls if they got their ultimate wish – Canadian style healthcare. ‘What do you mean I have to wait in line behind these regular people, I pay more taxes than them so I should go first.’
Good grief. The only useful thing out of Harvard is an empty bus.
Oh wait. Didn’t the chimp-in-chief sl*t his way through there?
It never ceases to boggle the mind when debating with a wannabe socialist. They seem to think they are immune to being one of the great unwashed. When explaining that only the ruling elite will live comfortably they don’t seem to comprehend or they curse me out as an uncaring conbot or other derogatory name.
Eh.. tuition and/or taxes will go up in response. Hard-done-by faculty would’ve probably had to forgo one Saturday evening on the town to pay for the difference. But they won’t, of course, which is why there is a story in the NYT and why we’re here yammering on about it. Rope. Lamp posts.
Good God – Harvard faculty are some of the best-paid on Earth. Just look up Elizabeth Warren’s take when she was there.
Speaking off Elizabeth Warren, it is surprising she hasn’t said anything about this.
Modern French history is interesting, and useful to any voter. For instance, how did France (with Britain the the Empire) beat the Germans in WW I (can you say “the Somme” and “Verdun”?) and then lose completely and decisively in only 6 weeks in WW II? That indeed is instructive.
Gosh! If they want to get cheap healthcare, just take a vow of (near) poverty, and direct that Harvard limit their incomes to under 4x the poverty level… Then they can get those wonderful subsidies! No more complaints about how expensive health insurance is! Hooray!
” All I can say is hahahahahahahahahahahhahhahahahahahahhaha. ”
Pretty much……
“For instance, how did France (with Britain the the Empire) beat the Germans in WW I (can you say “the Somme” and “Verdun”?) and then lose completely and decisively in only 6 weeks in WW II?”
Simple answer…they lost a 6 week battle but won the 6 year war. The German plan was a battle of attrition at Verdun….which they lost. The simple answer is the Germans lost WW1 and won, the later, “the Battle of France” at Verdun….
I always thought the French lost WWII out of sheer hide-bound stupidity.
They bet all their chips on the Maginot Line, because they were going to be READY for WWI this time, by Jiminy Cricket’s little yellow spats, and completely ignored Hitler’s Panzers waltzing all over the Rhineland, and Poland, and etc.
Kind of like how the USA is losing Iraq right now. Different details, same burning stupid.
The smartest people create hospitals that are too expensive for the health care plan they make mandatory on themselves.
I wonder what the solution will be…?
Not.
As Kathy Shaidle says, “You’re too stupid to tell me what to do.”
L O freaking L. Do unto others, but do NOT do thus unto me.
Can someone explain to me if the anger felt by the Harvard Faculty is macroaggression or microaggression? Also, are either allowed on campus?
Harvard alum here. Screw the professors. I won’t give them a nickel.
rules for ye but not for me.
It seems the good perfessor gotta check his male priveledge
“Can someone explain to me if the anger felt by the Harvard Faculty is macroaggression or microaggression?”
This is the righteous anger of the Lords Of Creation at having their privileges demeaned by mere plebes over something as unimportant as money.
Alternatively, its the anger of a first class grifter that his scam has gone sideways on him because the marks got wise.
Pretty much the same thing, really.
Suddenly the name Ignatieff springs to mind.
The broad smile is instantly vanquished by horrific realization.
Now, he will return.
“It’s a reasonable assumption, but it’s wrong. In five and a half years of politics up north, no one really bothered to criticize my ideas, such as they were. It was never my message that was the issue. It was always the messenger.”
Well, compared to baby Trudeau and moldy Jack….
Hug a commie – they truly don’t believe what they want for others, doesn’t apply to them.
Boo Hoo.

The Harvard docs must have read the Oath of Hypocrisy instead of the Oath of Hippocrates.
