  1. And do you know why it took so long? Because of Pierre Trudeau and his terrible Charter of Rights.
Indeed if Trudeau were alive today he would be running to defend all 90 of them against what he would view as an excessive intrusion by the state.
Multiculturalism for all, including those who want to destroy us. That’s the Trudeau way – both father and son.

  2. Indeed if PT were alive today he would likely proclaim “There’s no place for the state in the Mosques of the nation.”

  3. Of course. Only AFTER a tragedy like this happens does the government do NOW what it could have done to prevent this in the first place. But at least they’re doing it now. Let the leftard teeth gnashing begin.
By the way, is it true from what I’ve read that this guy’s mother is a senior official with Canadian immigration and his stepfather is a Libyan businessman?
    What fifth columnists element?

  4. Some questions:
    1. How do you whether someone has tried to join ISIS?
    2. On what legal grounds are they being “rounded up”?

  5. Doesn’t matter if they know the police are coming, we aren’t dealing with a trained militia here. Their only strength was ambush and now that advantage is gone. I say send them to ISIS and our soldiers can deal with them head on.

  6. I’d be more than happy to give them a hand rounding them up… Course they’d fall down a lot as I was arresting them..
I suggest we take them over to Kate’s place for the water-boarding.. outside, in January,

  7. The authorities should have let these go fight for ISIS. They likely would have died over there. They could have cancelled their passports after they left and denied them return to Canada if they survived.

  8. I heard today that the government already tried to put real boundaries around some of these losers and the courts prevented them from doing so.
Again, you can thank PT. Just look at the statement his son made today. PT is speaking from the grave through his son, and he is saying it is better to have an innocent man get killed by a coward than to interfere in any way with multiculturalism or with “rights”.
I know of an absolute grease ball lawyer in BC and he once told me the best thing PT ever did was the Charter of Rights – it gave literally thousands of bottom feeding lawyers jobs for life getting scum off the hook.

  9. The lefty talking point is and shall be for the duration: “Don’t give in to fear” I add “Including the fear of protecting Canada from all and sundry who would do her harm”.

  10. rabbit:
    1. These people are using social media to express themselves.
    2. Apparently 90 suspects have been ‘watched’..it’s Canada…if you don’t break the law, cops and mounties can’t go near you.
Sounds like someone decided ‘watching’ is so yesterday.
    ’bout time!

  11. Thanks for the response.
I’m still vague on the legal grounds. Is there legislation that allows this? If so, which legislation?

  12. Joseph Shmeau commented at blazingcatfur………Michael Zehaf-Bibeau mother identified as Susan Bibeau, Deputy Chairperson of the Immigration and Refugee Board Google “Susan Bibeau IRB” for her bio. The Radio-Canada report identifies the killer’s father as a Libyan businessman, now divorced from the mother. Shades of Gamil Gharbi/Marc Lepine.

  13. I think we have to proceed with caution on this. The two idiots who chose to attack our soldiers were taken down immediately, they paid the ultimate price for their mistakes.
Pierre Trudeau sent the Army to Quebec in 1970, and he had the support of most Canadians at the time. He (however) paid dearly for that move, and so did Canada. You don’t detain innocent citizens without consequences. We’re not at war. We need to keep our cool and let justice prevail. This is Canada.

  14. I would suggest that we are indeed at war. For want of a better charge just go with conspiracy to commit treason.

  15. PM Harper spoke succinctly tonight and correctly named these actions as terrorism. I couldn’t bear to watch the other two but did read their speeches on CBC website – I couldn’t see where either one mentioned terrorism.

  16. Won’t do any good if they are being rounded up. Can’t hold them, media and civil rights activists will see to that and then activist lawyers will help them sue Canada for $10 million each.

  17. I say we bury the shooter ass up with a pound of Canadian Bacon inserted in the appropriate orfice…as a warning.

  18. No naying or neighing from the shiney pony so far
    The silence is deafening
Worse than an empty suit. He appears to be the empty back half of a horse costume
No asks for a statement from the MSM ,he is still under a desk

  19. I note from his twitter feed that Ivison has his heart all in a flutter because he’s standing next to Anderson Cooper of CNN.
Pretty sad when you’re basking in the glory of being in the mere proximity of and American ‘media star’.
Yep, real serious journalist that John Ivison.

  20. Justin did give a statement, complete with the ubiquitous shout out to his pals at the Mosque…

  21. Ivison is a twat, or as my Scottish Dad liked to say, “a big girls blouse”. I hear leftist morons describing these two terrorists as not really terrorists but as “mentally disturbed”, I guess that description sums up the “root causes” meme… Ivison and his fellow leftists proving once again that modern “Liberalism” is a mental disorder… a mental disorder that Trudeau Sr. enshrined in his vile Charter.

  22. Accusing Justin of channeling his father isn’t very fair to Pierre.
I’ve no particular love or hatred for the old man, but even his biggest detractors have to admit he would not let this slide. Maybe it’d be an overreaction, maybe it’d be legally dodgy, but I cannot imagine PET backing down in fear of being labeled an ‘ist’ of one kind or another.

On the bright side, maybe this extremely close brush with… hrmmm… ‘diversity’ will hit home with some of the bleeding hearts. I imagine there’s more than one of them wishing they wore their brown pants today.
Cancel the passports of those who’ve already left to fight, revoke their citizenship where possible. Dare the opposition to vote against it.
Offer to pay the plane ticket to anyone who wants to leave to join ISIS and similar jihadists. The cost in tax dollars will be a bargain.

  23. We are most certainly at war. That’s what sending the armed and ready warplanes to the other side of the world is about.

  24. “…if Trudeau were alive today he would be running to defend all 90 of them against what he would view as an excessive intrusion by the state. …”
Unless he was in power at the time. Remember “Just watch me.” and the War Measures Act? He was a great man for “The People,” and woe betide any mere “person” who might get in the way.

  25. You have some valid points, but while we are not at war with another nation-state, we have been in alliances conducting combat operations against insurgents and terrorist groups abroad for some years, and have deployed forces to attack another terrorist organisation that has taken control of considerable territory and proclaimed itself at least a fledgling state as the Islamic caliphate. We should be thoughtful and careful about how we proceed against terrorists, especially home-grown ones with citizenship when they carry out attacks in Canada, because special treatment can seem to legitimize these criminal acts. The U.K. got this wrong at first when dealing with N.Ireland and had to rethink. However, that doesn’t mean we have to eschew using the necessary force or the most appropriate agencies (e.g. military rather than police) when they are called for.

  26. Remind me. What exactly were the consequences we paid dearly for…? Quebec threatening to leave the confederation?
Muslim terrorists are not citizens. They renounced their citizenship and became enemy combatants when they declared themselves terrorists for the caliphate.

  27. Right, Trudeau’s Charter and Multicultural crap are this country’s biggest security threat and sadly nothing will be done to change them. The Charter has a Notwithstanding clause but using it is frowned upon even though all provinces would not have signed the Charter without it being added.

  28. Nice to see we got that covered. Much better than the War Measures Act which allowed the arrest and detainment of a person for 90 days without charge or arraignment.

  29. plainzdrifter…. we are at war. the western world is at war with islam. it is a declared war on the part of islam, we are refusing to acknowledge that it is a war. terminally stupid people allow their enemies to live in their backyard.

  30. Notice to our home-grown jihadi insurgents – Canada will NOT become another Euro caliphate. We will NEVER accept Shiria or Islamo-fascist dogma in our rule of law, nor will we accommodate Islamic state intimidation in any way in our culture and society – pursuing a course to install or support Islamist caliphate is an act of war against all free citizens of this nation and will be dealt with as such – by all citizens. Canadians who assist in supporting and accommodating militant Islamist groups, agendas and causes will be treated as traitors.
    You have been warned.
This is the speech I was expecting from our PM and leaders. Instead the first act of leadership was to accommodate IS terror by ordering our military not to wear the uniform of our nation, lest it offends these subhuman scum.

  31. Replace the multiculture clause with a property right clause. We could do this now as Quebec will be on board.

  32. @Just a guy, @Oz:
Keep reading to 83.3(6) and (7). The police can lawfully detain someone without a warrant, but they must then appear before a judge within 24 hours or “as soon as feasible.” If a charge isn’t laid at that time, the judge must release him/her.
Beyond that, we’re starting to break our own laws, and violate our own values. Unlawful detention by the state is a far greater threat to liberty and freedom than any terrorist activity.
It’s troubling to think that so many here are willing to give up that basic legal right so willingly.

  33. Let’s not over react in response to a deadly serious threat to Canadians!
Canada is the BEST COUNTRY IN THE WORLD… NOW threatened by religious bastards ….. pure EVIL.
Let REASONED response be the governing guide in order to keep OUR FREEDOM as the BEST countr on this lpanet stay in place!
But on the other hand… let’s not hesitate to dispatch the EVIL BASTARDS from our fair land…. CANADA!
    I AM
    JOE MOLNAR

  34. I don’t really care what the charge is. I care deeply what the penalty is. Death by a thousand cuts seems about right.

  35. Yeah, I read the whole section and I understand it better than you do.
It means, No Soldiers in Our Streets(War Measures) and the RCMP aren’t going to be scooping up everyone they have ever slightly wanted to in their most feverish wet-dreams while holding them for 90 days without charges, as they actually did in October 1970.
Yes, these types of laws do have potential for abuse, but the government wouldn’t get away with it on any scale without soldiers in our streets.
These kinds of laws are necessary, thanks to immigration targeting certain 3rd world toilets.

  36. Occam. 100% right.
I would have preffered to hear that all military personael by armed with minimum of sidearm when out in public. Hding from these scum is not the way to do it…but so goes Quebec eh.?
