Unfortunately, even though the Constitution supposedly guarantees free trade between the provinces, there’s been a long history of provinces actually putting up barriers to free trade within Confederation, aided and abetted during the late 19th and most of the 20th century by a series of impossibly dim-witted and widely denounced and mocked decisions by the Supreme Court of Canada which deferred to the provinces’ desires for protectionism.
In the main, I don’t see it going away any time soon…

Even “conservative” premiers can come together to agree upon demanding things from the federal government that allow them to preen for the activists and opinion leaders while deflecting the costs and the fall-out to the feds. One of Stephen Harper’s greatest accomplishments has been his general refusal to play this game.
As for the media-generated buzz over “MMAW”, every one of the provinces might want to “inquire” into the practices of their various departments of family and community services to see why so many aboriginal children are in the care of the state, at least until they can be returned to abusive and neglectful parents.

I thought the same thing. Every time I think about taking out a membership in the Sask Party he comes up with some asinine liberal thing and I say to myself “nuts”. I am still upset about the bird whackers and told Randy Weeks so last spring.

Brad Wall is dreaming. You can’t win an infrastructure contract in Ontario unless you’re from a Liberal riding. Windmills in Haldimand (Conservative) are built on stone hauled by contractors from Mississauga and St. Catherines. (Liberal).
It’s an unwritten rule. But still a rule.
Wow, I thought my little province was bad off, it’s net debt increased by 63% since 2007 to a total of $10 billion which is $13,000 for every man, woman and child. On a per capita basis, we are probably worse off.
Yeah it’s bad here, I just wish Toronto would make it’s own province and leave the rest of us alone. Maybe then we could get something close to non-insanity in elections here.

About what you would expect of a Province run for years by Gay “progressives” with no idea what economics is about. Identity politics rule not the economy. If Trudeau gets to be PM expect the same delusional spending in Canada. Instead of an economist like Harper, you will have a part time acting teacher in charge with whats left of Chretien’s mob advisers.
The only economic plan a myopic socialist frump like Wynn can conceive of is scheming to raid the treasuries of other jurisdictions – now if these intuitively retarded progs put that much intellection into making the province economically self sufficient again, Ontarians might see low electric rates and decent wages again – but this scope of reason is beyond the narrow primarily felonious nature of the Wynn progs – plotting to steal your neighbor’s property is what gives meaning to life for a prog.
A brief revue of Ontario voting patterns, shows this more a GTA problem than an Ontario problem.
Problem is the hydro/tax rates affect ALL of Ontario not just the GTA.
I sold all my Ontario bonds when the Libs got re-elected and dumped all my Toronto bonds the day Olivia Chow announced she was running for mayor. I only hold bonds west of the Ontario border these days.
