Canada’s Foreign Minister John Baird had some most interesting things to say to Mark Levin. Given the choice of supporting a liberal democracy or an international terrorist organization, which would you choose? According to Leftist doctrine, they’re morally equivalent.

Can’t happen. When you have nothing in there to start with except hatred,self-loathing and a pity-party,well,no boom.
Oh. And the leftards are so open-minded,their brains fell out about 3 generations ago.
Israel needs her enemies. Part of the reason she helped get Hamas off the ground in the first place. The $121 billion in US aid since 1949 proves it.

Israel is not a she. Israel is a he and he’s gonna come and kick your sorry ass next dummy. And no, I didn’t look at the link you supplied.
“Israel needs her enemies. Part of the reason she helped get Hamas off the ground in the first place. The $121 billion in US aid since 1949 proves it.”
Well, yes. However if since 1973 she didn’t have to spend half that money on defense, both Israel and Hamas would be way better off. However,at this point in time, that is the last thing the Muslims want. Cuts into the victim pity-party thing,ya know. Just sayin’
Israel is not a she. Israel is a he…
LOL, I thought they took their lineage from their mother…
stradivarious, I did read the link you supplied. It appears that the US is paying Israel for anti-missile defence research (and combat testing) and receiving good value for their money. The Israelis are sharing what they have learned creating Iron Dome which is tactical missile defense and what they’re learning creating an anti-ballistic missile defense. Before you say ‘Patriot missile’ know that the Israeli Iron Dome system is orders of magnitude better, it can respond in seconds not minutes, intercept much smaller missiles, determine which missiles will hit empty dessert and ignore them, etc.
President Eisenhower referred to Israel as ‘my aircraft carrier in the Mediterranean that can never be sunk’.
Perhaps you should read Mark Steyn’s column in today’s National Post. And do stay inside, wouldn’t want the sunlight to turn you to stone.
Not laughing. Do I detect a modicum of anti-Semitism here?
Concede the moral equivalency argument. It’s a straw man. Argue instead about evolution. All world cultures have developed from a single origin long ago. They have all evolved from that original point. Which one has evolved the most? That is the culture that is morally right for the species to support.
Supporting Israel by bringing all the Jihadists here to Canada.
Way to go!
Life can be cruel sometimes and that reality is how the Palestinians live. Much of their suffering is self inflicted but the bottom line is that they were evicted from a large part of their country not unlike the Jewish people were thousands of years ago. The history of the ME is one bloodbath after another. The fate of the Palestinians is not unique. In ‘olden’ days they would have been massacred.
The Jews needed a homeland so they came back. All the despots of the ME conveniently use the Palestinian refugees as cheap pawns more as a diversion from their own activities than as a constant reminder of how the State of Israel was formed. The camps are maintained as a political statement open to definition. IMHO the oil producing countries of the ME should easily have absorbed the Palestinians and the ME would be a more peaceful region.
I have little pity left for the Palestinians and support whatever it takes for Israel to survive. In my life time there appears to have been some reconciliation between Israel and other Arab ME countries as to the right of Israeli existence. Sadat might have gave his life for the Egypt/Israeli peace treaty but it stands no matter the brief tenure of the Muslim Brotherhood.
Yes, it does appear that way.
Good for John Baird. He does seem to be a firm clear voice for principles, as is Jason Kenny.
Justthinkin, the left’s reason for living is hate and hatred of everything classical liberal democracy stands for.
I get into these things all the time.
A little while back some European in a discussion forum was prattling on about the US and Iran.
I simply stated that it was a no-brainer: there was no way on earth I’d ever take the side of a theocratic, undemocratic regime in the Middle East against our closest friend and ally.
Leftist heads are empty. Implosion is much more likely to occur.
It’s amazing the amount of Anti-Semitism that is being exposed on the internet by the likes of ‘strad’. They can recite by rote because they lack the ability to think and reason. Note the total that he/she quotes in the amount of aid that the US has given to Israel over the last 60+ years and then try and total what the US has given to Egypt, Germany, Japan, Syria, Turkey, etc., etc., etc., over the same period. But the great unthinking mass see the Americans as the “Great Satan” that the mullahs of the ME have labelled her, no amount of reason or thinking will dissuade these LIV’s from the rational that they have swallowed. These mullahs have been so successful that the LIV’s in America have voted and empty suit/chair into office twice and are told by him that America is not exceptional. We, here in Canada are also under assault and our empty chair in waiting has told us that we have to understand that terrorist are misunderstood, they are not barbaric, they are to be admired, etc. The last bastion of Western Civilization is Canada and the United States and with the state of affairs in cities like Calgary and Miami, we can see that the ‘Trojan Horse’ has already been brought into the city. God help us all.
Kate; I understand if you feel I have misused the privilege of commenting on your place with the following. If it is acceptable and you feel it desirable please edit out this opening statement.
I unfriended the Anglican Church of Canada several decades ago. The Primate at that time was Michael Peers. An erudite individual who spoke several Languages. The language he spoke several decades ago was neither of our Official Languages or indeed any other language he is reputed to know.
The language he spoke was equivocation during that particular time when once more, Israel was under attack for existing. The typical reaction from the central Canada media elite at that time and continues; Israel must be understanding; Israel has to be held to higher standard; and continues until this day. The ultimate in sly, soft bigotry; “they have not had the opportunities Israeli’s have had”.
The Anglican Church of Canada’s Primate fitted right in with this theme.
When I unfriended The Anglican Church of Canada I remain a member of the congregation of our local Anglican Church. This is where many of our friends meet on a regular basis and where we find comfort.
I resigned as a Licensed Lay Reader of the Diocese and had our name and address removed from both the national and diocesan news letters.
The reluctance to stand up to aggression only brings on more aggression. Is this not what we want our children to understand when bullied?
Equivocation as a word always brings another, relatively new word to mind, quisling. What Israel is experiencing now is yet a continuation of despotic regimes ignoring the true message of Mohammed in order to maintain their power. It will continue while “Western Media” continue their quisling role.
Oh, well then, if the 121 billion was for missiles, then that’s okay.
Maybe we can use them on the Russians…
Given that Hamas rockets are located and stored in UN run schools; the proposition is that the UN has taken the side of Hamas. Further still, the rockets were returned to Hamas.
Perhaps UN Special Rapporteur Leilani Farha is a representative for the destruction of Israeli housing.
Hamas rejects the two state solution and would prefer the Final Solution.
Is it any wonder that Israel has launched an excursion into Gaza given they have recently launched well over 1000 missiles in the direction of Israel of late?
How many V1 and V2 rockets did Great Britain sustain before they took action against rocket launching sites in WWII?
Tellingly, ‘However, while “UNRWA strongly condemns the group or groups responsible for placing the weapons in one of its installations,” there is no indication that the arms were confiscated.
“While Israel wants the UN to release photos of the weapons, according to the Jewish Telegraphic Agency, the UN body is reportedly refusing to hand over the images which could be used as evidence against both them, and Hamas.’”
In this respect John Baird has the moral equivocators dead to rights; and bully for him for calling Hamas out on its policy and methods.
Cheers

UN Returns 20 Missiles Found in UN-Run Gaza School to Hamas
July 21, 2014 – 12:01 PM
By Curtis Kalin
On Friday, the United Nations found 20 missiles housed in one of their own schools in Gaza. Sunday, the UN returned the deadly weapons to Hamas.
The Times of Israel reported on Friday that a UN school in Gaza was found to be housing 20 rockets. The act was “strongly condemned” by the organization after their inspection found the hidden weapons.
UNRWA [United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East] informed all officials immediately after discovering the rockets, and “successfully took all necessary measures for the removal of the objects in order to preserve the safety and security of the school.”
However, the Times reported Sunday that a UNRWA spokesperson confirmed the missiles were given back to “local officials”:
A spokesperson for UNRWA said the organization gave the rockets to “local authorities,” which answer to the Hamas-backed unity government led by Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas.
To make matters worse, Israel’s Ambassador to the UN Ron Prosor indicated that more UNRWA facilities contain deadly weapons, calling it “the tip of the iceberg.”
Fortunately, many small Anglican churches solidly support Israel over Hamas. I was surprised to see a poster by the door of our local Anglican/United church, with a statement that the congregation stands with Israel. My nephew, who grew up in Israel and became an evangelical Anglican priest here in Canada, is about as steadfast a supporter of Israel as they come.
…and maybe one should be saved for YOU, Nazi trash.
Cheers! chutzpah.
God bless PM Harper. Now to be rid of Muslim immigration.
Agreed. Now let’s convey that to our immigration Minister, he’s a very clever fellow, I expect he will listen. In fact I’m not asking him, I’m making a plea to him via email shortly. Our government doesn’t need to talk about, just do it, we don’t want to stir up the Liberal Left.
The Honourable John Baird makes me proud to be a Canadian.
Under the Harper Conservatives, Canada is a defender of Western Civilization in this “Clash of Civilizations”.
Now, if we could just get provincial governments public come out and to take our side, too!
Dealing with the Islamists, the advocates of Sharia Law who have been allowed to immigrate into Canada, much of that counter-jihad education falls under provincial jurisdiction.
I agree. I have been surprised at some of the commenters here and their support of Hamas, as well of Russia’s aggression toward Ukraine.
…and maybe one should be saved for YOU, Nazi trash.
You forgot raacist, and anti-semitic…
On the frothing fanatic scale, 50%.
The “Shalom motherf*****r” related link should be forwarded to all lefties.
The author personalizes his experience very well.
Something I’ve been mulling over, but have a hard timing putting to words:
It’s apparent that Hamas wants a genocide. Rather, that they want two genocides. Only by uniting the middle east (similar to ISIS on a grand scale) will there be a group strong enough to destroy Israel (genocide #2). Only when there is a strong uniting influence will the disparate Islamic leaders work closely together. I think that Hamas wants to provoke ethnic cleansing against the Palestinians. That’s why they pi$$ on peace treaties. That’s part of why they don’t care about hospitals and schools in the Gaza strip and the West Bank, that have the benefit of being places that civilized people won’t shoot yet (that’s right, there’s no moral equivalence), plus the people that would use them have to die to bring about the ultimate victory, so why waste money that could otherwise go to bombs?
That’s also why I think that the first Iranian nuclear bomb will likely go off in Gaza or near Jerusalem. To provoke the response that Israel will not give them with the explosive rain currently bouncing off the iron umbrella. If Israel responds to a nuclear strike against them in kind and Mecca, Medina, and Tehran become clouds then the more rabid among the terrorist membership will finally get their wish.
Sadly, if a culture hates others more than it loves its own children, is there anything that the civilized world can do to stop them other than set aside our own civilization and become the strong horse that they know they cannot stand against?
Mr. Mead provides a good analysis here

I like John Baird. I campaigned with him many years ago. He is a very funny and personable man. He is also articulate and unafraid to speak the truth and to take on his political adversaries. He does this very well. I do hope he runs for the leadership in the next round. Then you will see some heads explode. He would wipe the walls with Shiny Pony in a debate.
it would be better if he took us out of the Useless Nations, and kick anyone and everyone associated with it out of Canada.
