  1. That is a fun story. Most of the comments that I saw are quick to dismiss it though trying to stick up for communism/socialism.

  2. It is clear that the sample participants who were raised in East Germany received a less comprehensive education in statistical probability than their West German counterparts.

  3. Any system that has contempt for private property yet extolled as virtuous (Progressivism, Socialism, Social Justice) is bound to instill immoral/unethical behaviour.

  4. Being an avid golfer, a game based on etiquette and honesty. I will relay a story of socialism. Being the only conservative capitalist in an annual golf tournament with the wife, we were paired with a couple fellows high up in the Union food chain. These two started the cheating early in the round. I was stunned to learn from the wife that it was was nearly expected that cheating was part of winning. While I made a small fuss in the first two holes, I was told to relax and not worry. I told the wife I wouldn’t want to play with them again, to which she said I was already on the outside with these two. My point is that the story holds some relevance to me personally.

  5. “The longer the participants had been exposed to socialism, the greater the likelihood that……… ” – they will seek public monies to do redundant “studies” with conclusions which mirror the shockingly obvious?
But seriously folks – Not only from historic record but also from long term observation of the operational socialist model, there is no doubt that public exposure to western socialism (kleptocratic, crony statism) creates a wide degrading of civil ethos as well as personal scruples, as all and sundry stampede over each other to secure their piece of the public purse (entitlement). The political class start using the privilege of office to steal for personal gain. Factional and group animosities peak, political discourse breaks down to partisan hatreds and slanderous narratives.
Oddly enough there was no need to go through this as it is a well-established historical chain of events evident in every nation’s descent into socialism. – all this was predicted 183 years ago by Alexis De Tocqueville (a classic liberal) while touring the new North American free states of Canada and America – he stated that democratic republics last only until the politicians discover they can bribe the people with their own money. – so cryptically true – this is the essence of klepto-socialist sales appeal – the prospect of getting something for nothing more than a well directed ballot.
However the most distressing effect on the public exposed to aggressive socialism is from exposure to the torrents of fact-deprived propaganda and surreal utopian revisionism which is necessary to camouflage the vast failings and fallacies of the socialist state which then implies the need for authoritarian police state control that ensues to suppress continued dissent to these grotesque frauds – all of which has the effect of turning those on the receiving end into agitprop-lobotomized, submissive zombies – (slaves to the largess of single party state corruption), who have no sense of right or wrong or even self-preservation. Just look at GTA or the major city-states down south for the social-civil cesspool socialism creates.

  6. “The longer the participants had been exposed to socialism, the greater the likelihood that” they try to cheat the system that is cheating them of personal and economic freedom.
I have many relatives who formerly lived under Soviet socialism that would agree with the results of this test. People stole state building materials to build or repair their homes. People stole state farm fertilizers to fertilize their small plots of land. People seriously goofed off during their assigned work hours. And the list goes on and on.

  7. How is this surprising.? People living in a state of scarcity of food and other hard assets will never pass up an opportunity the “get some”. Look at it this way, if the state giveth and taketh without individuals having any way of improving their lot (socialism) then one would be a fool to not game the system. On the other hand, if your lot in life is determined by your actions and reputation thereby allowing a way by which wealth or the comforts of life can be accumulated well the you have incentive not to be a dick.
This articles applies to native reserves, old communist countries and the incestuous arrangements goes have with unions.

  8. Socialists have no plan B for when they run out of other people’s money. The money extrapolated from the people who employ, provide jobs and keep the economy healthy are taxed out of business.
Ontario is already on that path.

  9. IMO the Trudeau Charter is a blue print for socialism, it will eventually destroy all we value, all our forefathers fought for. It allows some to be more equal than others according to how the unelected judges interpret it’s dictates on all cases sent before them.

  10. It is well known that Communism eroded the moral sensibilities of the peoples that it ruled. That is one of the
reasons why the brothels of western Asia are well stocked with Russians, and why there are so many eastern
Europeans in porn. The other is poverty – no surprise to readers of this blog, but communism was a monumental
failure in increasing the wealth of working class people.
The former East Germans did better than Czechs, Poles, etc. (who nonetheless did better than under Communism)
because – the West Germans sank a billion dollars into them, together with much expertise.

  11. One can look no further than the examples of Soviet or Asian communism or how leftists/liberals live here. Wealth and comfort are fine for them but not for he proles who, having made to work all day, return to a crowded, shoddy apartment and will face another day in a socialist paradise where the only godhead is the Party.
    Oh joy.

  12. “The longer the participants had been exposed to socialism, the greater the likelihood that mass murder will ensue as an option to social problems”

  13. They should do this experiment in the US, where people were exposed to capitalism only: they would get interesting results.
