MacLeans are a bunch of idiots. In 2009 National Geographic dispelled – or tried to – the myths about Darwin’s journey on The Beagle. Evolution was widely accepted during Darwin’s lifetime but his theory of natural selection was debated. It’s a fascinating article and I suggest everyone read it as it knocks the stuffing out of modern left-wing hippie mythology.

Evolution applies to everything except global warming and human intelligence.
There is no way any plant or animal can adapt to changing temperatures.
And no way evolution can have any effect on development of human intelligence.

Much of the article has embedded truth but the blatant progressive bias makes the identified problems irrelevant due to a total disconnect between cause and effect. Americans, like all people on the planet make poor socialists and their public education system is proof. The shear magnitude of the federal government guarantees dysfunction like no other western nation. Any electorate that can vote for Obama, not once but twice needs no essay on whether or not it has been dumbed down. I found the ignorance in the article impenetrable. There is no argument that can sway someone who is so smugly sure of himself. Yes the US and Canada are dumbing down but this article is a reminder of why–superficial and filled with assumptions.

Couple years ago a friend stopped by with a forties something individual from Ireland who now lives in Holland.
When he started to ramble on about the “American Stupide” I said the U.S.A. was a quite a sophisticated country which managed to feed it’s complex society of over 300 million people, and only those who did not want to sleep with a roof over their did so. (literal license)

It’s painfully obvious that Gatehouse knows nothing about the subjects he writes about, hasn’t investigated, researched or examined contrary opinion like science requires and merely accepts on blind faith, the doctrines that conform with his prior ideology. He’s a prime example of the public bias against science that so concerns him.
What Jonathan Gatehouse doesn’t know about the Bible or science could fill the oceans. Any idiot who thinks that the Bible excludes science or science excludes the Bible is so infantile in their understanding of the world that they are not worth debating or reading.

Gatehouse is a prime example of the type of article author that finally convinced me to drop my Macleans subscription about ten – fifteen years ago after having it for about twenty years. Oh to be sure they had their token conservative pages by Mark Steyn and Barbara Amiel, but their focus was liberal ideology. Their liberal focus became so blatant that I could no longer read their crap, and besides they dropped Mark and Barbara.
The media’s purpose today is to dumb down society so that those, such as the post-communist environmental heirs, who would control us for our own good have fertile ground to plant their seeds of misinformation.

I was deep into my Reform Party movement when I cut ties with MacLeans. Of course I had to include a denunciation of Eastern Canada in that subscription cancelation. This began an exchange of letters with MacLean’s editor at the time, his name escapes me. He was unprepared to even consider that the West had been badly treated by eastern Canada. All was good, I just could not appreciate the finer points of how the country was run.
If I had been more politically aware at the time I would have realized his real concern was the reformation of the conservative movement in Canada. A grassroots, conservative movement threatened all his progressive precepts.
Macleans went to bat alongside Mark Steyn defending against three separate ‘human rights’ hate-speech Complaints, made possible by legislation openly intended to craft society by means of punishment.

Whether people who choose to remain uninformed or misinformed are stupid or simply ignorant is debatable. I think stupid covers it most of the time. However, the majority of people appear to be stupider than recent generations. The evidence of that is apparent in the movie being produced, the TV being produced, the excuse for music that is being produced, the vast array of distractibles that absorb what’s left of young people’s brains putting them into a state of introversion and then add cannabis use and alcohol for added pleasure and you have a nation of Zombies voting for Justin Trudeau, Katherine Wynne and Barack Insane Obama.
Smart people are hard pressed to vote for any of those fools at the best of time, so many don’t bother to vote. The rest of us have our votes cancelled by some down syndrome kid who was directed to vote liberal or NDP … or perhaps by one of the thousands of inmates who all vote liberal in the hopes of getting out of jail early.
Just look at the state of the western world … it’s failing economies it’s malcontent populations … the inability of it’s leaders to even grasp the problems they are supposed to be fixing.
What problems has any government fixed in the last forty or so years. I cannot think of anything significant. Things have gotten worse and dumbing down continues.
We are heading for a global feudal system with narcissistic megalomaniacal idiots at the helm who will have folks killed on a whim. It was like that in much of the world for most of the time … still is in parts of the middle east, africa, and washington DC.
