The Dallas office of the Internal Revenue Service has come under federal scrutiny, but not because of anything to do with taxpayers’ money. Instead, it’s over allegations of what employees were wearing or displaying in an office of the Federal Building.
Early in his 2012 re-election bid there was concern that President Obama’s campaign needed all the help it could get; now a federal probe has concluded some help from inside a Dallas IRS office might not have been legal.
According to this Office of Special Counsel document, employees at the Dallas IRS Taxpayer Assistance Office were seen wearing pro-Obama campaign paraphernalia: stickers, buttons, and T-shirts, even putting campaign screen-savers on work computers.
“Scrutiny”. So that’s the word they’re using now.

People should be fired over this, but since even the highest politicians live in fear of the IRS, I doubt anything will happen.

Investigating the IRS is a waste of time. There’s no grand conspiracy. There’s no orders from the White House. There’s no orders from Lois Lerner or other supervisors. It’s more insidious then that – rank & file IRS employees are union members (read: Democrat-voting liberals). They, individually, are inherently biased and will always scrutinize Conservatives while turning a blind eye to fellow Liberals.
The answer: abolish public-sector unions and the IRS. Replace with a simple flat tax.
Exactly right cje. There is no conspiracy here, just inertia. Do the higher ups expect that rank and file will do their bidding? Of course they do. And they are happy with it. But I am certain none would risk being caught red handed over something rather trivial in the grand scheme of things, especially something that will happen anyway. Cancer grows by itself not though some central control mechanism.
