I found out recently that I was deceived by social activists in an elaborate scheme dating back to January. A production group with what I now know has a fake name and fake identities gave me a friendly interview about my book A Day with Sir John A, and about Sir John A Macdonald, back in Feb.
They connected me with a fake company called Heritage Figures Canada with a fake website and “hired” me to perform consulting work for them. We had what I now know were fake meetings, fake documents, fake commercial shoot, fake prototype of a Sir John A collectible. Then in a second filmed interview last week, they turned on me, and it was revealed to have all been a setup in order to demonize Sir John A and smear me.
It turns out this is a taxpayer-funded CBC and APTN project. There is so much more, I will make a video. They also deceived [Frances Widdowson].
And this is scary: when I was signing the release form, one of the chatty producers was trying to distract me from reading it – but I obtained a copy, and they include a clause about using AI – so I can expect they will doctor the footage and create deepfakes…
They took a run at Vancouver MLA Dallas Brodie, too. What is going on here @CBC? We want answers! This to me looks like you kidnapped Frances Widdowson – I think the police need to get involved here.

This outrage exceeds even my ideas about how corrupt, how sleazy the CBC truly is. But what to do? What to do? What bothers me most about this is that the CBC, AFN mega giants pick on small-fry conservatives, like Lindsay Shepherd and Frances Widdowson. One could say that this jumps the shark, but the CBC had jumped the shatk decades ago.
I attended a talk at my university, way back in the 1960s, by civil-rights leader James Farmer of the Congress of Racial Equality (CORE). (He later became a Republicans and worked in the Reagan administration). He said, instead of despairing, people have to organize into activist groups. Conservatives in Canada have a few groups that help these two conservative women. But we need more and stronger groups.

There’s nothing wrong with comedy and satire but that’s not what this show is about. It’s not about reconciliation either. It’s about using public money to marginalize dissent from Canadian orthodoxy, political and cultural. It will, of course, only increase political and cultural divisions. More distrust of Canadian institutions and government (aka. taxpayer) funded agencies. The Liberal party of Canada and CBC (but I repeat myself) has learned nothing and continues to produce propaganda instead of promoting unity.
The only saving grace is that very few people will watch this show because it’s a Canadian TV production and Canadian TV is as entertaining as watching paint dry.

There was nothing even remotely funny about this unless you count the 215 children’s shoes dumped on the table…the fact that they would bring more attention to the failed Kamloops Residential School *scam* could be considered funny, I suppose. I’m with those calling for a lawsuit. This was not a ‘prank’…this was a well organized, deliberate attempt *by political activists* to set up for humiliation a woman they consider to be an enemy. That they used a government-funded media company makes it even worse.
