“Oh yeah? You and what army, President Poofter?”
So let me get this straight. The “penalty” for Russia if it keeps its hold on the Ukraine is that it doesn’t get to waste precious summer days in June in the presence of this cowardly little narcissist and his entourage of fluffers and fellators? Well, yes, that would certainly make any leader of Russia give up the security of his fleet’s access to the Crimea, the Black Sea, and from there into the Mediterranean..

Napoleon and Hitler came to grief over Russia, so I thought perhaps it was some sort of antichrist obsession and assumed Obama would be next.
Now like JT I have made a bit of a bad joke there about a serious situation, with the difference being, if Harper Cabinet people complain about it, I can tell them to take a hike. Just returning the favour there anyway.
Putin will probably annex the southern half of the Crimea and some eastern border districts claiming national security concerns, then wait for the provisional government in Kiev to fall apart and get his guy back in charge there, annex the rest of the place and call it New Improved Russia now with Borders on Slovakia and Moldova. I was going to say Poland but they already had Kaliningrad which is probably another place that really belongs to somebody else.
Canadian leftists must be in a real jam these days, their man Putin is now off-side on three major issues (terrorism, gay rights and climate change) while their new friends in Kiev are apparently a bunch of right anarchists and libertarians making even John Baird a little nervous. What if that spread to Canada?
Gerard Vanderleun is one of THE best writers in the USA right now. Man, but I wish I could write like that.
Does Putin have the cajones to go for the muslim “final solution”? After all they have caused him and Russia nothing but grief. Interesting to see.

I live in Canada,so this issue at this time doesn’t affect me personally. To you Americans, if it comes to it , would you go to war for the ruling party?. It maybe a rightious war, but the Dems?
If Russia has a controlling interest in the Mediterranean (as well as a creeping interest in eastern Europe), then what will the Americans do in that region?
Perhaps the electorate should be asking itself that.
America has Guantanamo so the moral high ground has already been lost. A great deal of Russian blood was spilt in Sevastopol and the Crimea… more than once. They ain’t giving it back for free.
Ukraine never should have given up their nukes.
The sooner Canada gets nuclear weapons and lets the world know we’ve got them, the safer we’ll be.
North Bay had nukes. Up until ’72 I think… Bomarc’s. We’d have fried Cochrane! Or Timmins. Either way.
Obama is making his excuse “early” of why he is not going to Russia. Putin has a score to settle with the punk….
He won’t go to Russia under any conditions! Jarret may go in his place, once she saw Putin riding that horse you know what she is thinking.
President Poofter. I like it. Really suits the man. I can hardly wait until he draws another line in the sand and Russia ignores it. Realistically there’s nothing he can do to stop Russia anyway and Putin knows it. It’s a EU, Russian and Ukraine problem but only Russia and Ukraine will be shedding blood. Everyone in the west will take sides and cheer for their champion while offering nothing but moral support. Like Georgia the hope of freedom to choose will once again be buried under Russian boot heels. Biggest problem is half of Ukraine supports Russia. It’s the other half that will suffer.
Indeed, Canada needs nukes, and needs them now. Pax Americana is dead. Any nation which
values its independence needs nukes.
In the article it is said that Russia “doesn’t get to waste precious summer days in June in the presence of this cowardly little narcissist and his entourage of fluffers and fellators” , which is a very good description of the thing in
Washington. “Superannuated hustler” is my own best shot but that doesn’t bring out its lack of guts.
Furthermore the American equipment is probably better than the Russian.
HOWEVER the first thing that one learns about war is that will and skill is more important than equipment. A tank
is of no use if no one knows how to drive it, much less how to fight it. Same with strike aircraft. Obama has really
done a number on the US military – or a couple or three numbers. Nobody knows how well they would do in
combat.
The US Secretary of Defense has just announced deep cuts in the US military. What message do you think that
sends to Vladimir Putin (not to mention the Chinese)?
Americans very much dislike losing, of course, so some US troops would fight like devils. But how many?
Putin better watch out or President Mom jeans will… community organize, read a teleprompter, smoke some weed, appear on the “View”, gut the military, divide America, go golfing, or better yet, go on vacation, you know, the things Barry’s good at… And some people say affirmative action is wrong… weird.
Obumbles was going to draw a line for Vald, but Bo the dawg eat all the cayons!
Obama has a cheaper weapon. It’s called the IMF.
Obama draws a thin red line in the bun. With John Kerry’s ketchup.
Meanwhile… FT900 reports reaching back to 1991 show that US exported its gold. Fort Knox is empty. Rumours abound on the street that Saudi gold in London is being stolen and sent to China.
The jig is nearly up.
I sure as hell don’t think Americans should be going to war for Europeans any more. We’ve been there done that before.
It would have been nice if deterrence could have worked, but with present government it hasn’t. Canadians and Americans have no dog in that fight any more.
Russia is a Dying power(as is the US). Even if they squash Ukraine, they are no threat to North America.
Putin is not a leftist. More a traditional potentate. I think he genuinely wants a stronger Russia. I’m certain he lives a life of luxury, as all potentates do; who wouldn’t?
Would not be a righteous war. I’m interested in seeing how things will transpire in Uncle Samovich’s backyard. The question “How smart a cookie is Putin?” we will be able to answer soon.
Bomarcs were stupid anti-aircraft missiles. Diefenbaker was an idiot. Sorry, Saskatchewan, but it’s true.
Well, not the homosexuals and women.
Hmpfffff.
Even if the military backed Obutthole – they are infested with poofs, flimps and flits too. That might be a good thing though…sending an all-female Marine battalion against Russian troops would settle some things with those idiot dykes and feminists one and for all.
Biggest problem is half of Ukraine supports Russia.
Any ideas on why that is? Or why the media instinctively take the side of the “rebels or revolutionaries” without trying to analyze the underlying complexities of the situation.
I’d like to hear more from the ethnic Russians in Crimea; surely they’re not all bad guys.

“I sure as hell don’t think Americans should be going to war for Europeans any more.”
Look here, if Ukraine gave up their nukes because of American guarantees in 1994(and they did) then America had damn well better make good on those guarantees.
Ask those guys in Benghazi about that….. well, they’re dead, while Washington slept or “ooohed and ahhhhed” on live feeds. Hmmmm.
That bunch in downtown Tranna that think they know better on how to run a country, better wake up. But then, like BamBam, they’d probably wink and give Putin et al a pass. Like minded, I’m thinking. They’d sell this country out.
Kaliningrad is the name the Soviets applied to the massive German naval base of Konigsberg.
At the end of WW2, the Soviets redrew the map of Eastern Europe.
Poland was basically shoved west, at the expense of Germany, and former Prussia became part of Poland…..except for Konigsberg…which the Soviets annexed….far from Russian territory….not a problem when the Baltic States were part of the USSR….
The collapse and breakup of the USSR left Kalingrad, an isolated anachronism, much like the US Guantanamo or the British Gibraltar….and now the Crimea…
Obama will be rated as the worst ever US President
Obama’s line in the sand is a 360 degree circle around himself.
Precisely. Putin has the force in place and internal lines. Obama has feckless naïveté and John Effin Kerry.
My money is on the Ruskies.
Look here, if Ukraine gave up their nukes because of American guarantees in 1994(and they did) then America had damn well better make good on those guarantees.
The agreement with the Ukraine, signed by Clinton, was never ratified by congress.
You want to risk thermal nuclear war because of a dumb agreement by the Democrats?
Democrats who were hiding soiled dresses and being impeached at the time.
The same leftists who’s agreements helped North Korea build a nuke plant in order to appease?
When Obama is finally ousted, almost every regulation, agreement, alliance, and hired commie will need to be reversed and fired. Just like that stupid unratified agreement.
The US, France, and Britain all have nukes. Putin has stormed into the Crimea anyways.
Do you believe the Ukraine’s leaders would have actually used a nuke?
Not bloody likely. They haven’t become insane yet. It’s hard to keep receiving graft to fill bank accounts from a radioactive smouldering pile of rubble.
Even the half of the Ukraine with western leanings, are leaning towards the socialist miasma called the EU.
Even if the US forces Russia to back down, the Euroweenie supporters wouldn’t thank them anyways.
Putin will never give up Crimean access to the Mediterranean Sea.
The only thing that will bring stability back to the planet is a strong, experienced moral leader that doesn’t believe cow farts are as dangerous as Russia.
As Kate says; We shouldn’t be picking sides, we should be praying for astroids to hit the Kremlin and Pennsylvania Avenue.
Where in the US Constitution is Ukraine?
It is my understanding that Crimea is not historically Ukraine anyway. The Soviet republic of Ukraine was created in the 1920’s. It was made up of some of the territory of historic Ukraine, and a bunch of territory which was not. I am a wrong believer in ethnic nationalism, but I don’t think you will find a lot of people who consider themselves ethnic Ukrainians live in Crimea. I could be wrong, but I think this is accurate.
China is going to fund America to fight Russia, so China can be the last super power standing? There is no geopolitical upside to fighting battles you cant afford to win or lose..
America has to borrow money for toilet paper.. They cant even afford to clean their own rear ends..
There is not much to fear.. In fact the only thing left is the illusion of American wealth and power.. One major defeat away from the dirt road reality that was America before WW2..
That reputation that 80% of the would would love to squat on..
Soon in the name or word peace and welfare payments China is going to demand that America’s nuclear weapons be dismantled or they will level sanctions (cut off the welfare)..
Chinese weapon inspectors in America?
“The agreement with the Ukraine, signed by Clinton, was never ratified by congress.”
Ooh, Ukraine gave up actual physical possession of their nuclear weapons and you think the U.S. should be able to weasel out of their responsibility because of a mere technicality?
If the U.S. doesn’t step up here they had better not pretend to be part of negotiations in the Middle East or with North Korea or anywhere else because their word means nothing.
Do you understand? Just nod.
” If you’re blue and you don’t know
Where to go to, why don’t you go
Where fashion sits?”
Putin on the blitz.
blitz·krieg (blĭts′krēg′)
n.
A swift, sudden military offensive, usually by combined air and mobile land forces.
The White House has ordered 500 million rounds of “red lines”.
I guess they don’t want to run out…..
I imagine that Putin must be jumping up and down and squealing like a little girl now that he has Obama’s permission to be a part of the international community’s effort to do exactly what Putin wants: keep Ukrainians in the west of the country under the Russian thumb, and in the Russian ambit:
“I also spoke several days ago with President Putin, and my administration has been in daily communication with Russian officials. And we’ve made clear that they can be part of an international community’s effort to support the stability and success of a united Ukraine going forward.”
Yeah, best wishes, Vlad.
Btw – and I’m just stating the obvious – the US isn’t limited to a choice between pompous Obamian platitudes and nuclear war.
Europe can sort out its own problems..
Rampant leftism and two shitty wars in two shitty countries has bankrupted America..
If you think America is in a position to take back Europe with its service industry economy your a fool.. They have a high tech small professional army that has office workers and light industry underpinning it..
Going to a actual war footing with your industry located in China is not possible..
Shock and aw shucks from the reinforcements?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lW5kB906mh8
I haven’t seen anyone calling for a war between the US and Russia.
On a sliding scale of forcefulness there are numerous other options that stop short of war; Obama’s on the feckless, totally ineffective, words-only side of that scale.
Vlad the Conqueror versus Obama the Coward.
I wonder who will win this one? Not.
That’s correct, it’s not. In the 18th century it was a separate nation, the Khanate of the Crimean Tartars. A Moslem nation, it was aligned and allied with the Ottoman Empire. The Khanate itself was the last remnant of the Mongol Empire, specifically the White Horde. It lost all political and military power in far eastern Europe after its defeat by Ivan the Terrible. Catherine the Great conquered and annexed the place in the 1780s(?) as the first real southern seacoast Russia had.
Ukraine itself did not exist at that time. It was simply eastern Poland.
Ever since that time, Russia has been colonizing the place with Russians. Being an oppressed minority, many Crimean Tartars joined the Nazis in 1942 to fight the Soviet Union. Evenually the remnants of the Tartar units surrendered to the British in the Balkans in 1945, whereupon the British promptly handed them over to Stalin who had most of them shot or gulaged.
So in historical terms, the Ukrainian population in Crimea is as much from immigration as the Russian population.
Poorly played on the part of the West.
It was entirely foreseeable the Putin would come to the rescue of “ethnic Russians” in Crimea and other eastern Ukrainian districts (watch for this soon) being oppressed by “Nazi sympathizing nationalist Ukrainians”. An obvious play would have been to chirp loudly about the need to send in a multilateral peace keeping force. Then you get Russian and EU or US troops on the ground preserving the peace and letting the people’s will prevail.
How do you prevent another Georgia. You play different cards.
Ooh, Ukraine gave up actual physical possession of their nuclear weapons and you think the U.S. should be able to weasel out of their responsibility because of a mere technicality?
A technicality?
I may be incorrect, but my understanding is that all treaties with foreign nations must be approved by congress.
Ukraine gave up actual physical possession of their nuclear weapons
“THEIR nuclear weapons”?
Do the American nukes in South Korea, Germany, etc. belong to South Korea, Germany etc, if the US pulls out?
Russia was never going to leave the Ukraine without their nukes.
“I may be incorrect, but my understanding is that all treaties with foreign nations must be approved by congress.”
Yeah, it wasn’t a treaty. That said, Americans cite their Constitution when it’s a convenient fig leaf to hide behind and violate it whenever they like.
“THEIR nuclear weapons”?
Yes, if you ever thought the union of Soviet Socialist Republics was a union of 13 Soviet Republics and that the material for the bombs came from places like Chernobyl Ukraine, those nuclear weapons were the Ukraine’s.
“Do the American nukes in South Korea, Germany, etc. belong to South Korea, Germany etc, if the US pulls out?”
Poor analogy. A better analogy would be to say that if the United States of America broke up into individual States then why would all the nuclear weapons be California’s?
Politics can not exist in a vacuum, it needs air..
Pushing the weak politics of progressive-ism has splintered western social cohesion to the point where nobody can look to any political representation and see themselves as being part of it..
Russia is strong and it has no time for nonsense.. Discounting everything that sucks about modern liberal democracy while making our leaders look like little girls..
Just what is it you expect me to fight for?
People don’t die for some hill, they die for a concept they believe they represent.. If this concept becomes to abstract the hill just becomes a pile of dirt..
Nazi Germany was right about America they were just 50 years off.. Russia was right about their revolution they were just 100 years off..
Foreign events made America strong not Americans.. Foreign events made Russia weak, not Russians.. Ask yourself what time is it now? Who is able to capitalize on foreign events and get away with it..
Oz, It’s your contention that nuclear buttons/control/codes etc. rested outside the Kremlin at times?
Because thats the only way the Ukraine could lay any claim to them.
Yes, that is my contention, and since all of the launch systems for all of the Ukrainian nuclear missiles were designed and built by Ukrainians at Yuzhmash they would have either had the launch codes or the ability to change them because they designed and built them.
Robert of Ottawa “Bomarcs were stupid anti-aircraft missiles. Diefenbaker was an idiot. Sorry, Saskatchewan, but it’s true.”
Am I missing something? Diefenbaker was stupid for not deploying American controlled nukes in Canada? The war monger Liberals then borrowed nukes from the U.S. and I guess they are really smart? I don’t get it.
OZ
“Poor analogy. A better analogy would be to say that if the United States of America broke up into individual States then why would all the nuclear weapons be California’s?”
Actually Alabama (Huntsville) and New Mexico (Los Alamos)would be more accurate……
The USSR was not a union/confederacy/commonwealth but actually a continuation of the Tzarist Russian Empire with the various Soviet republics actually provinces of Soviet Russia.
Despite all the Soviet bluster about NATO being composed of “colonialist/Imperialists”, the USSR was the last great colonial empire. The USSR’s weakness was as much a demographic lack of Russian personnel to administer/garrison that empire.
