First of all, I’m not endorsing this video. There’s a fair bit of hyperbole. But it is also a very interesting perspective on the current trade war between the United States and Canada.

If you’ve bought into carbon capture you’ve bought into anthropogenic climate change.
The same people who whine about sun and solar not being able to meet our energy needs are the same ones who don’t have a problem with carbon capture.
Which is puzzling.
Save the planet? Not so much. But use it for enhanced oil recovery, like they’ve been doing at Weyburn for 26 years? Yeah, I’m okay with that.
But that’s not the thrust of carbon capture tech as it relates to the gov’t’s perspective now is it?
Are you telling me Saskatchewan is kicking in $2Billion to squeeze a little more out of old wells?
The way I understand it it’s to reduce GHG emissions which of course has been the climate change fanatic’s shibboleth for years and why tax dollars are subsidizing it like they’ve been doing with other fantasies.

CO in the atmosphere is 1/2500th of the total.
A cubic foot of atmosphere, at sea level, weighs .07681 pounds. Heavier than most people realize.
So the CO2 in a cubic foot weighs .0000307 pounds.
Nine million pounds of CO2 is what we’d find in 293,259,600,000 cubic feet of air.
That’s 1052 cubic miles.
So the air in a cube that’s about 100 miles wide, 100 miles long, and 1 mile deep contains the same amount of CO2, nine million pounds, that was extracted since 2020.
Canada’s surface area is 3.8 million square miles. The atmosphere is way more than one mile deep; more like 65 miles, with the density decreasing with altitude, of course.
We have a very long and expensive way to go to get the CO2 portion of the atmosphere measurably down using carbon capture.
Some won’t like my numbers. Maybe someone with better math skills that mine can prove me wrong. But the fact remains: carbon capture is a very foolish way to spend money. Canada’s 3.8 billion trees do a far better job of extracting carbon. And they do it for free. So does every bush, flower, blade of grass, stalk of wheat, potato plant. All plants are made of carbon, and they get it from the air. They combine it with oxygen and hydrogen from water to make carbohydrates, the building blocks of plant cells. A few minerals from the soil are used, too.
It’s a way to make politicians, bureaucrats and crony capitalists extremely rich off of the stinky taxpaying serfs.
Build a new power plant and then consume 15% to 25% of it’s energy in order to capture the CO2
