The Government of Canada was supposed to assist in this with periodic new legislation and Order in Council (OIC).
The RCMP have been doing this unilaterally since 2006. Access to information records show that RCMP have an aggressive firearms reclassification agenda, and that prohibitions will not stop with the Swiss Arms Series Rifles. These rifles were approved for import by the RCMP have been sold in Canada for over a decade. Owners once held registrations for them under the now defunct long gun registry. There has never been a crime or incident of violence committed with one of these rifles.
NFA condemns this RCMP assault on the rights and private property of law abiding Canadians. The RCMP has shown contempt for the rights of Canadians by their actions, and we expect the Government of Canada to take steps and introduce measures to reign in the RCMP and end the assault against the rights, property and freedoms of Canadians.
Add your name to the petition, The RCMP abuses C-68.
Video below the fold.

I wish you luck with this worthwhile campaign Mr. Hagen. But you can’t get the average Canadian to take meaningful action on anything important like property rights. Raise his cable TV rates a few bucks, or charge him for texting, that’s a different matter. Then he’ll howl.
No worries. There’s no registry for the RCMP to use to find ’em. Maybe.
“No worries. There’s no registry for the RCMP to use to find ’em. Maybe.”
Oh, they still have the old non-restricted registry data. Even if the rifles have been sold to other owners, they’ll start with that.
Question. Do you also dream at night. 🙂
I signed the petition.
Federal law. Where is Harper. Obviously he must condone this.
Yes,as I’ve asked various MP’s,where the hell IS Mr.Harper on this?
Has he been so completely “Ottawashed” that he’s become just another liberal politician swaying with the PC winds?
Mr.Harper, you are losing your base, and despite your pandering to the Left, they are NOT going to vote for you. Do your duty to the people who elected you and rein in the RCMP before they steal all our property.
an iron fist in a red serge glove is part of the government’s law and order campaign, of course they will never reign them in.
Good lord! Do these folks sit around in a backroom and brainstorm to see which idiotic, asinine move they can make next? Little by little, piece by piece, the freedoms won for us by our fathers and grandfathers are being whittled away by the nanny state. Enough, I say!
The RCMP should be banned from Remembrance Day ceremonies, as our veterans fought, bled and died to save us from what they have become.
The RCMP have become a power unto themselves. P.M. Harper has chosen not to restrain them. He’s retained, indeed endorsed 98 percent of the infamous C-68(1995). The arbitrary prohibition of firearms from the possession of peaceful, otherwise law abiding citizens is an act of contempt for the citizens of Canada.
To be treated this way is not the reason we voted the Liberals out of office.
More cowardly actions by our politicians.
I swear they seem more frightened of normal citizens than they do mass murders.
Are these folks that scared of the populace because they will not do what we want them to, or is it just the idea of power?
I used to be a big fan of the cops. I would stick up for them when the usual liberals and teenaged pot heads started calling them jack-booted thugs and fascist pigs.
No more.
If I see a cop in trouble – he’s on his own. I will not comply with bullchit like this, I will not help the RCMP in any way and if I can make their job or their lives a big PITA for them – they can consider it done!
If you have one of these rifles, you tell those pigs that you ‘sold it to some guy in Red Deer’ – and let THEM figure it out. Don’t let them into the house without a warrant, don’t go down to the station unless you are under arrest, and don’t say a thing to them without a lawyer first. These are not the Canadian RCMP of your youth – they are liberal fascist pigs on an agenda, and they are not your friends.
I hope all concerned parties are prepared to engage in private prosecutions of any police organization who must use an illegal copy of the repealed registry to actuate a surrender of this recently banned property.
Following indictment for illegal possession of a “banned” registry list, personal lawsuits for recovery of loss should follow.
It appears the police are not very good at complying with government ordered “bans” – a poor example for the firearms owners they oppress with their bans.
In spite of the fact that this is a sickening thing, it may turn out to be good. For years, we gun owners have been screaming about the Queens Cowboys arbitrarily designating guns on their own, with little or no reason beyond what they look like.
This may be the straw that broke the camels back, with the entire Prohibited class being re-evaluated based on some sensible ground rules, further, the existing list needs to be evaluated and ‘political bans’ tossed. This is also a make or break moment for the conservatives as they are likely to lose 2 million gun owners, plus anyone who is related to them.
This should be a wakeup call to the FUDDS who assume that the anti-gun folks will leave them alone, cause their deer/moose rifle is a good guy.. recently the anti’s have been blatting about those ‘evil sniper rifles’ which is a Remington 700 with a scope.
How did all the guns help the Americans? Their government is worse than ours. Just.
The NDP are innumerate, a front for unions and the party for the lost and uninformed.
The Liberals might be the most corrupt organization in Canadian history, and if their new leader was any more of a lightweight he would need landlines ala a zeppelin.
The Conservative Party is dangerous and could not be any bigger of a disappointment to this lifelong member.
A pathetic and gormless Supreme Court allowed papers please roadblocks at any time. Not a peep from”Conservatives.
Harper was right when he said he would govern like the Liberals. This government rivals any Liberal one for self interest and their accomplishments are very thin gruel. A wasted decade.
Their tax policy is pathetic, a disgrace and smoke and mirrors like most of our incompetent governance. AS you surf your porn sites, remember Big Brother is watching in real time.
Canadians are a dumb defeated people with no options. Period.
Tweewdle dumb, tweedle dee and tweedle dumber. Who you voting for?
“There’s no registry for the RCMP to use to find ’em”
Would’t matter if the RCMP illegally kept and used the scrapped registry.
Once the registry was gone Canadians were free to do what they wanted with unrestricted firearms. They may have sold them, buried them or legally thrown them out in a landfill.
What the RCMP have done is defrauded honest taxpayers out of thousands of dollars and criminalized them for no other reason than to do so as they are viewed as the enemy to their fantasy’s of a police state.
I say get used to it, ladies and gentlemen. Nobody cares about two thousand rich rednecks who dropped a month’s pay on a fancy ASSAULT WEAPON. The hunters don’t care, the target shooters don’t care, and Little Justine Trudeau doesn’t care.
“I sold it to some guy in Red Deere” will get your house raided, incidentally. You have a PAL, they don’t need a warrant. They can just barge the hell in and lever your safe open.
There will be no wake up call that rallies the troops. There will be no straw which breaks the camel’s back. There will only be ever increasing numbers of incidents like this one, where bureaucrats unilateraly decide something and then cops come to your house. Eventually they are going to branch out from guns and start going after bows, knives and cars. Look at Britain, look at Europe and Japan, this is the reality.
We already lost this war. It was lost in 1968 when we were still kids. Or parents lost it, we just didn’t know until now.
My advice? DON’T BE ON THE LIST. Also, call your MP and raise hell with them. Just because we lost back in 1968 doesn’t mean they won forever. They can lose too.
If the RCMP ever has a gun amnesty where you can turn in guns, I’m showing up with a box of staplers.
I would suggest wrapping them up nicely and tightly and find a place … not on your own property … to bury those guns until they are needed … which I don’t think will be very long they way things are going in this world.
If you hand them over you might as well ask which box car you are supposed to get your ass up into for last ride.
The fight for liberty is never over … it’s just pissed away by a generation or two of spoiled idiot children and their spoiled idiot parents … then suddenly there is a generation that realizes it’s just been born into big government slavery with no hope of upward improvement int their lives.
Yes … it is happening … the illusion of freedom can and may well vanish if we continue to roll over.
Aren’t those two items contradictory? Pinging your MP on this will almost certainly get you on a list.
I really do not think that anything can be done about this, other than to wait for the kick on the door in the middle of the night. We’re already in the f*cking boxcars; we just don’t realise it.
Lickmuffin said: “Pinging your MP on this will almost certainly get you on a list.”
Oh, absolutely. But its a different list, its one they call up for donations. That’s a good list. You want to be on that list.
There’s only two ways to change the situation. The slow way, and the fast way.
The slow way is what got us here, liberals grinding away at things one bite at a time. The slow way is what Mr. Harper is doing in Ottawa, one bite at a time taking back what the liberals stole.
The fast way is on display right now in Ukraine, Syria, Venezuela, Egypt. The fast way is blood and thunder.
I chose the slow way. I’m prepared to weather the fast way if I’m caught up in it.
Because you know what? If the cops come to my house and take my stuff… I CAN ALWAYS GET MORE STUFF. Life is too short to live in fear of this bullsh1t my friends.
The musings of Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn
“And how we burned in the camps later, thinking: What would things have been like if every Security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive and had to say good-bye to his family? Or if, during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat there in their lairs, paling with terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand?… The Organs would very quickly have suffered a shortage of officers and transport and, notwithstanding all of Stalin’s thirst, the cursed machine would have ground to a halt! If…if…We didn’t love freedom enough. And even more – we had no awareness of the real situation…. We purely and simply deserved everything that happened afterward.”
― Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn
Is there any other issue besides abortion that gets people so riled up as this one?
I remember working during an election campaign after the gun registry was implemented. We placed “remember Bill C-68” signs all around the Liberal candidates headquarters and about drove him crazy. Maybe we should dust them off and pepper Conservative MPs with them before the next election. The’y’ll know it’s their own supporters who are sending the message. Perhaps they’ll even get it.

“This should be a wakeup call to the FUDDS who assume that the anti-gun folks will leave them alone, cause their deer/moose rifle is a good guy”
Yes it’s sickening listening to those pretentious clowns beat their chests as if they’re morally superior and untouchable by the “system”. They somehow have deluded themselves that their favorite old piece of crap is somehow special and exempt from Liberal hatred.
One day it’ll be their turn.
“Stand together or hang separately”
Knight 99 I’m reminded of that old saw about the croc’s eating you last.
Another self inflicted wound by the mounties high command.
Harper and Minister of Justice must fire top brass, to protect the RCMP.
C68 drove a festering wedge between the local cop and their natural allies.
Law cannot exist without the cooperation of solid citizens.
You never see the do-gooder, gun-grabber types when the call is out for volunteers
How many of these idiots have even been out in the wilds?
Hunters know their range,Bureaucrats know the trough..
Join the biggest street gang in the country..
The RCMP needs you.
That yellow leg-stripe will let you loot and extort money from most all citizens.
Tazer old ladies in cars, molest young women, beat your critics..
It is the paramilitary way.
Now the urge to steal is so overpowering good sense, at RCMP headquarters, that even the dumbest voter can see it.
Once the cops become the very thugs they are charging us protection money to prevent..
Game over
2015….Just stay home.
Or, if you want to hurry things along a little faster…vote NDP. Don’t even think of wasting it on the LPOC.
Go BOLD. Go commie.
PO’ed in AB >
You make a valid strategic point.
It was the K.K.K of all unlikely voters that endorsed obamba, you can find them rallying FOR him in the 2008 presidential campaign.
Their reasoning was that “he would make such a mess of the US, that no one would ever vote for a Black man again”.
It’s the old we need to destroy the village to save the people analogy.
I just sent my MP a strongly worded email. He will reply, as he has done so in the past.
I’ve called my MP’s office about this. I stressed that I will not support the party in the next election if this crap isn’t repealed. I have a meeting with him this afternoon. I think showing up to riot is the only way to get through to them that the RCMP need to be muzzled and put on a short leash.
Please let us know how your meeting turns out.My MP doesn’t bother to answer my E-mails anymore,or I get the “thank you for your input” brushoff.
My MP is Lizzy May’s bum boy so my complaining won’t do any good even though he used to be an tourist outfitter in the north. It’s that Ottawaitis that hits them folks.
Something that the Harper bashers might want to consider and that is be careful of what you wish for because you might just get it. The RCMP have made a terrible decision BUT please don’t expect the PM to jump in and over turn such a decision every time a regulatory body makes a decision that rubs you the wrong way. The RCMP are not the PM’s lap dog and the PM does not have direct say over decisions the RCMP make….. AND THAT’S A GOOD THING!!!!!! Just imagine the silly rules and regulations that would be coming from a Justin Trudeau PMO or a Thomas Mulcair PMO if they had the kind of power you advocate. Yes this new regulation should be tossed so lets make sure it is correctly disposed of so that it does not come back to haunt us once again. That dear friends takes time – not a gunslinging PM that on a whim changes the regulations because his buddies told him to change a regulation.
Just so everyone is clear yes I think the RCMP are wrong on this regulation and that they should see the foolishness of their policy and change it forthwith. No the PM should not use his office to force that change without due process.
The slow way is what Mr. Harper is doing in Ottawa, one bite at a time taking back what the liberals stole.
“He hits me cuz he loves me.”
cops are all homos.
Kazoo: Canadians are a defeated people.
Me: Sorry Mr.Pig, there are millions of unregistered guns that you wont get.
I already received two replies to my email to my MP. One from him and one from Hon. Stephen Blaney through Hon. Peter MacKay’s office. I posted the replies in Reader Tips.
I quit complying with this silly nonsense 20 years ago.
I do have the advantage of living in the middle of nowhere.
It’s time to roust the western separatist party.
“Just imagine the silly rules and regulations that would be coming from a Justin Trudeau PMO or a Thomas Mulcair PMO if they had the kind of power you advocate.”
I am sorry, are you suggesting that RCMP would ever tell a commie politician “no sir, you are going to far”? Seriously? The moment libs or NDP takeover Ottawa again, RCMP will be their most enthusiastic lapdogs, especially so when it comes to banning guns.
