In an interview with the Huffington Post that focused on his history of marijuana use and the evolution of his opinion about legalizing the drug, Trudeau admitted that he had smoked pot after being elected MP for Papineau in 2008.
Weird how Marc talks about smoking "big gaggers" w Trudeau on 4 or 5 occasions http://t.co/FaiHSpwJJy vs. JT's story: http://t.co/UKJp2YdL2t

The Canadian version of the Choom Gang writ large.
This is what terrifies me Fred .
Justin,in a pitiful attempt to appeal to the youth vote, confesses to smoking dope, then weasels out with ” I only tried it 5 or 6 times”,and “the joint was passed around,I took a puff and passed it on”.
Bullshit! Ya smoked dope Justin, just like a lot of us did. And you undoubtedly inhaled too, unlike Kim Campbell and Bill Clinton. And as the venue was Whistler, home of more fancy drugs than any other place in B.C., ya probably snorted a few lines too.
(Say,didja ever toke up with Ross Rebagliatti? WOW! Coo-ulll!)
But that might shock somebody,so you stopped short of the “whole” truth and admitted to “puffing” on a joint a few times.
Stoned, straight,or drunk on Newfie Screech,Justin, you just aren’t capable of running this business called Canada. And I hope you never get the chance to do so.
JT…the 1st stoned Prime Minister in awaiting.
Is there any sort of code of conduct for MP’s? Weed is illegal in Canada…and JT freely admits to taking part in a criminal activity while a MP…should he not resign his seat? just asking….
He really is his Momma’s boy.
As Don alluded to, this revelation WILL HELP HIM BECOME PM!!
Prediction on the revelations to be released in 2014:
1. He has cross-dressed on more than one occasion.
2. He had a make-out session with a guy one time but they didn’t go all the way.
And these “revelations” will ALSO help him at the polls.
People deserve the politicians they vote in.
Maybe they do, but what about us who don’t vote them in?
Throw the MFer in jail.
Things he no longer qualifies for:
Security Clearance
Being Bonded
The Military
Sensitive manufacturing
Prime Ministers Office
Things he does qualify for
AutoPac worker
University student
Robert’s ventilating aside, he is right. This will endear JT to the public.
This is a joke right?
I’m surprised it took this long for this thread to hit sda, as there are 1000s of comments at the post, and 100s at the globe.
there is overwhelming support at the globe for this admission; whereas the post is more balanced in the comments.
all of that said, a CPC victory is attainable if:
1) PMSH keeps his promise to balance the budget
2) introduce income splitting for all families
the rest of the isht is just noise, i cannot see cpc voters that are home owners and married couples who are unfairly taxed switching votes for the prospect of legalizing pot considering they can get it anyways. furthermore, it would be nice if someone asked JT how exactly he plans to implement his most prominent campaign proposal. Perhaps he should promise to also end crime, AGW and poverty.
If a Trudeau does it , it’s legal .
In a democracy the majority rules. C’est la vie.
” “Mich had charges pending against him when he died for marijuana possession even though it was just a tiny amount,” he added. Trudeau said that was one of the factors that led him to first support decriminalizing weed. ”
Justin is using his brother’s death to justify the legalization of marijuana. That is sleazy.
Also;
” If people needed ID to buy marijuana … the black market would dry up. If there were severe penalties for selling it near a school, students would have a harder time accessing it,”
The above was conveyed to JT by ‘ NORML, Women’s Alliance of Canada’,and is stupid. The kids would just buy it away from the school.
Justin throws that out to show his support for woman? Who knows.
http://www.huffingtonpost.ca/2013/08/22/justin-trudeau-marijuana-mp_n_3792208.html
I’m all for the legalization of pot and other drugs, but Justin is such an obnoxious child. Why does he always have to be playing for votes?
If Justin Trudeau never smoked a joint in his life his equivocating and flip-flopping and vapidity and logical incoherence would still make him unfit to be prime minister.
Consider the statement –
Two short sentences, back to back, saying two entirely different things; the first one is unequivocal, the second one equivocates on the same subject. It’s like a lying, stuttering kid hedging his bets because he’s not quite sure yet how much his parents know. Would you trust someone who followed up “I do not touch even a drop of alcohol” with “I wouldn’t really describe myself as a big drinker…”?
He says he’s tried marijuana, but not “other types of hard drugs.” He obviously doesn’t consider marijuana hard drug – he wants the government to sell it – so why didn’t he just say “but not hard drugs” instead of “other types of hard drugs”? Again, there’s that faint whiff of equivocation, in that any person who has taken a certain type of hard drug (like, say, cocaine) could say with 100% truthfulness that he hasn’t taken “other types of hard drugs.”
And then there’s the idiocy of wanting the government to in effect deal marijuana, because “it’s one of the only ways to keep it out of the hands of our kids.” How do we keep the tiller out of his hands? That’s what I want to know.
Btw, I think Robert is right that this revelation/confession won’t harm Trudeau among the majority of the voters on the lib/left (look what Jack’s rub ‘n’ tub did for him in Quebec) but I think the fact that he’s a pretty-boy airhead will make at least some of them think twice about whether he’s really the right guy to lead – and represent – the country.
It bugs me that Ford is villainized for smoking drugs (allegedly), and the Fortunate Son is worshipped for smoking drugs.
Only the mind of a progressive can square that circle.
cut to the chase….Marc Emery for PM!
in a pluralistic/multicultural/i’m ok society, anything goes if it doesn’t directly hurt someone else.
What a coincidence, I’ve smoked marijuana since he’s become an MP too.
Just what we need, a pot head steering the good ship Canada to becoming the laughing stock of the world.
I am against marijuana legalization for one reason – government would find a way to screw it up and lose money at it – guaranteed. I know that sounds impossible, but they would do it.
As for JT’s revelation – why should anyone, anywhere, care.
“Hey Moe I hear ya tipped the crane over”.
“Yeah Curly I am heading for the pee test right now”. “They suspect I had a Justin Trudeau this morning”.
So this is what they meant by Justin getting higher, in the polls, that is………….
It only confirms, moreso, what people think of me, a complete ponce and unqualified. However, the GenXrs don’t care, that’s the Obama crew, policy doesn’t count, just that he’s cooooooooooooool.
Explains the LPC policies (or more correctly the non-policies!)
Meanwhile, Thomas Mulcair revealed that he enjoyed a particularly fine cognac with his eclairs. And Stephen Harper said he tried the flavoured coffee at 7-11 but “it wasn’t like Tim’s.” Liz May said she was having a sea lion’s love child. And whoever’s in charge of the four Bloc guys said he would kill for a cigarillo.
Not that we haven’t heard it all before, starting with the (quite literally) grand-daddy of them all:
“Conscription if necessary, but not necessarily conscription.”
Say what you will about Mr. Chretien, he, at least, managed to raise false dichotomization into an art form: when the conservative element was at low ebb, due to there own, er, particular variant of dichotomization (two parties), Mr. Chretien hit upon a unique approach: send two senior ministers out there to say contradictory things on the same subject at precisely the same time (John Manley is against the Monarchy, while Sheila Copps is in favour of it; if memory serves, both were, at one time or another, Deputy PM under “le petit gars”).
No matter. I’m not worried about any of this nonsense. So Mr. Trudeau, Jr. smoked up, even with Marc Emery, who has previously claimed that he has smoked up with everybody important: duly noted, and who cares?
The essential question, to which indiana homez more than correctly alludes (both literally and inferentially), and upon which, IMO, most voters available to both Mr. Harper and Mr. Trudeau, Jr. will be voting, is pretty simple: who can credibly build up the success of the country, to the best advantage of its citizens, and who has the most credible plan for doing so?
An (admittedly) negative and secondary corollary question might be: how does any of this marijuana nonsense contribute to Canada’s success? From the stand-point of someone who regards it as a tertiary issue, at best, I can basically go either way: status quo or outright legalization; “decriminalize, regulate and tax”, on the other hand, is a total and laughable non-starter, so full, as it is, of non sequiturs, that it could well hoist Mr. Trudeau, Jr. with his own petard.
I have to say that I am surprised by Mr. Trudeau, Jr.’s summer antics, even by his standards: why not make a stab at actually competing with Mr. Harper, instead of, you know, making yourself look like a jack-ass.
He be tokin” but no buyin’.
Comes by that cheap streak honestly.
Says who?
I am part of the public. If anything, it has made me feel more disgust for him. He’s a nauseating fluffball who trolls anywhere for votes. Enough of him!
Well if its any consolation to Justin Trudeau his pot smoking will not change my vote. I would NEVER vote for him if he smoked pot or was sober as a judge.
why not make a stab at actually competing with Mr. Harper
The polls are clear: he’s more than competitive. ‘Whistling competition to be held next to the graveyard, hosted by SDA’.
Is it alright if I will not vote for anyone who smokes dope because I feel it is immoral? I drank more than my share over the years, but never touched the other crap. I tend not to moralize on alcohol even though it has caused more problems than the other, but I have seen the slovenliness that grass causes, and it is a character destroyer, and makes its users paranoid. If that sounds paranoid, so be it!
He smoked drugs with Marc Emory? Now that is a serious breach in taste.
Yeah LAS and my Daddy can beat your daddy with one hand tied behind hie back blindfolded. Sheesh don’t you ever have anything relevant to post?
I heard about this on the radio at work…bet my son $50.00 that I could identify the “journalist” who posted this for the HuffPo…Althea is always the answer….Paul Wells in 3..2..1…
JT has some very astute and clever handlers on the Liberal election team. They’ve got a young charismatic leader and a controversial vote getting issue [or two] to get the youth vote. The Liberals are smart enough to realize that young voters are the largest untapped resource in the country and they’re nearly all linked by social media, which makes them very easy to manipulate. Don’t forget, elections are like selecting prom royalty, not like selecting the valedictorian. The most capable person doesn’t always win. Some might say ‘seldom wins’.
If the Conservatives want to win another majority govt. then they will to have to DO something significant in the next two years, not just make more promises. Senate reform would be a good one to focus on.
Why does he always have to be playing for votes?Posted by: wallyj
DOH That’s what politicians DO to get elected.
The winner isn’t selected by an intelligence test.
LAS almost always has relevant and important points to make, but you’re all so busy punishing deviation from the groupthink orthodoxy that they go right by you. Like it or not, Justin Trudeau does poll competitively against Stephen Harper. If you think that’s because the electorate is stupid, or that the polls are inaccurate/biased, fine. Then say that. But this making up silly opinions and positions LAS has never espoused just so you can wax histrionic and prove your loyalty to the tribe – that’s just juvenile and more than a little saddening. I come here for the commentary by people who know their shit and can elucidate it clearly. Loki, EBD, batb, and yes, even Dick Slater and ET are worth reading even if I violently disagree with them. But this stuff? This is so high school, man.
N60
They better talk to their BC members first, before assuming that kind of event. The NDP bet on the same strategy, and lost badly.
The yutes might think he’s cool and say all the right things, but, they do not turn out to vote at least nowhere near in the same numbers as the older demographic.
Then again, have at it Liberals, go ahead, make that bet………
smoking dope sure helped his mum.

It would appear that JT’s handlers are attempting to change that.
Time will tell, eh?
Legalize cannabis and make the punishment for selling any drugs to kids extremely harsh and unforgettable.

Quite true. If they didn’t feel so threatened by LAS’s comments they would ignore them.
All of the most worthwhile comments come from people who don’t engage in personal attacks.
So posting ‘my political hero is better than your political hero’ is the height of commentary. OK then…….
Looks like Rev and North have been smoking their own ‘justin trudeau’.
Only a rightwing extremist fool would misunderstand my comments as endorsing JT. Go back, and read slowly for comprehension this time instead of feeding your preconceived notions.
Related- RCMP now confirm that orange powder found in the House of Commons is just Dorito dust.
Before justin’s comment the lpc was a regional rump third placed party. Now they can claim to be a regional rump one issue third place party.
Way to go justin, you finally accomplished something.
This should soon fizzle out,Toronto’s Mayor Ford will be arm wrestling Hulk Hogan and Ford will be accused of taking performance enhancing drugs.
All trudeau is doing is drawing votes away from the NDP. But it would be a master stroke for the CPC to come up with something bold.
North it would seem that you are the one with reading comprehension problems. My jab at LAS was toward his silly post that he (LAS) thinks that JT is going to win the next election. This point has no relevance to the discussion at hand and is little more than a little boy in a sand box trying to win a fight by saying his daddy is bigger than his enemies daddy. You then jumped to LAS’s defense saying that LAS was bringing fresh ideas to the table. In the adult world ‘my daddy can beat your daddy’ isn’t exactly a fresh idea. Now please go back and indicate to me where I EVER said you were endorsing JT. You won’t find it because I never said it.
Justin has tasted coffee but never swallowed.
What is the big deal?
Obama smokes/smoked pot and became a Nobel Peace Prize winning President of the United States,
Canadians should take a look what he has done for our country;>

I didn’t say that at all. Stop misquoting to fit your agenda, it’s rude. Learn how to accurately read and comprehend.
Always make sure you have the correct target in your sight before you pull the trigger, and you won’t look so foolish.
The Shiny one has really taken the interest off the so-called Senate scandal, it’s basically gone to pot. I’m amazed the media hasn’t caught onto that, assume they think he’s onto a winner.
Loki, EBD, batb, and yes, even Dick Slater and ET are worth reading even if I violently disagree with them.
Disagreements aside, I highly appreciate the input from cgh, Daniel Hates Red Tories, David Southam, sasquatch and a finely tuned musical instrument (stradivarius, plural stradivari).
As for those who need to resort to ad hominems, ignoring them is best since their posts lack reasoning and logic.
