With the surveillance tech available today, nabbing a few urbanized eco pilgrims fumbling around in the boonies should be easy.
Perhaps if they are successful in a major strike it will spawn a counter eco-terror vigilante mobilization – then its time for popcorn and beer.
Thank goodness for Ezra, and his willingness to stick to an issue.
The eco-loonies, watermelons (call them what you will) indeed were instrumental in derailing the dippers attempt at government in BC, so I am torn, if the worst we have to endure is a couple of flim-flam artists like Andrew Weaver and Elizabeth May sitting lonely in the legislatures that’s not so bad compared to an NDP government. Congratulations Ben West.
Ezra has a point, Canada’s economic future is being endangered by US backed watermelon groups. This was ably pointed out by Vivian Krause and while Canada Revenue Agency initially became interested about the foundations charity status and was investigating nothing seems to have come from that (your government NOT at work). Vancouver’s pitiful excuse for a press has an attention span measured in micro-seconds, so we rely on the likes of Ezra for real news and follow-ups on that news.
The one point Ezra missed is the link between Geoff Megg’s Vancouver council having financial ties to the Tides foundation.
For anyone to minimize the eco-nut threat you have to assume that the RCMP will actually enforce the law. The majority of the time they do not.
I have hiked the West Coast Trail a number of times and was always amazed at the number of serious nut-bars we met. From people hiking 47 miles in gumboots to German hikers with nothing but a black bag of nuts. Nuts for the nutty I guess.
There IS a good probability of the enviro-lunatics attempting to sabotage pipelines,but the surveillance technology which may exist isn’t used for domestic problems.
It took lots of old fashioned investigation to find the perps bombing the pipelines near Ft.St. John a couple of years back.
One item Ezra should have mentioned is, during the war in the woods campaign on Vancouver Island, the MSM,who used to do the job they’re paid to do, exposed the protesters for who they really are. When interviewed,most would say they were artists, but BCTV investigated and found that over 70% were actually on welfare and were supposed to be searching for work full time as per their welfare contract.
Not only were the protesters NOT kicked off welfare,the NDP government of the day chartered school buses so they could go to the Nanaimo welfare office to pick up their cheques.And it didn’t matter where they came from, their cheques were waiting in Nanaimo.
NDP complicity was quite apparent in the “war in the woods”.
Some of us with long memories remember that there is more to the NDP than just higher taxes,these people are anti-industrial,no less than their extremist buddies in the eco-terrorism movements.
The NDP puts on a face of respectability, but in their ranks are people as unsavory as some in the ranks of our Democrat friends to the South.
We had the good sense to reject these Luddites,now let’s hope the government has the courage to prosecute these terrorists to the full extent of the law.
Hopefully, no workers will be killed in their terrorist campaign.
Destroy peoples livelihoods, expect the whirl winds of a backlash.

Besides American money being used to stop industry in Western Canada , we also have Saudi money poring in as well. Thinking about it perhaps Harper allowing large ownership by offshore Chinese is a smart move. They will not allow these flakes to fiddle with investments they own.
CT – unfortunately, if the police won’t enforce the law, they the eco-nuts will find out who knows those woods the best. It’s not those who come visiting for one weekend in their lives. It’s those who work in them, who know all the little lakes, cliffs, and holes that hide within the deep bush.
Counter-terrorism can be done as simply as terrorism. The first stage is reporting, if reporting doesn’t work, then out-of-province licence plates out in the deep woods will start having mechanical failures. How much mechanical work would be needed by a small Volkswagon diesel engine after the tank is half filled with urine, anyways?

Something that consistently gets overlooked is that the NDP is LABOUR based! That’s folks that have jobs in industry, construction, forestry. When it came time to mark their ballots, in privacy, I’m pretty confident that a lot if not most of those folks voted with their own best interests in mind…and that obviously wasn’t the anti-industry NDP. Whatever their Union Bosses thought…

Dan, in recent years the NDP seems to have struggled, trying to decide who their core constituencies are. The leaders appear to have decided in roughly this order:
1. Environmental zealots
2. Occupy type victims groups
3. Public sector union members
That’s about it. Public sector labourers are no longer on their priority list. Oh sure, the leaders probably assume that they’ll get the vote of such folks but, as you alluded to, at the ballot box they probably do not.
Why are the oil sands and pipelines targeted by these foreign groups who fund activists and extremists? Anyone with a brain knows the oil sands are a miniscule contribution to emissions and lesser so to pollution worldwide.
Yes it’s because they can (cue back to European seal products bans); it’s more than that, and IMO quite obvious.
NEWS FLASH – Soros, Gore, the Tides Foundation et al, in some way, through ownership or as influence peddlers/rent seekers, work for our competition. If they really wanted to save the world from a fever they would go after first coal, then Nigerian and Venezeulan oil. They could care less about that – actually they work for those guys.
It’s not just about world governance or saving the world – the watermelons are useful pawns to this too – it’s about power brokers like Soros who, after becoming wealthy off it, seek to destroy capitalism for their own ends. Or Gore with his obvious links to ME oil. We’re just a target on their radar. They’re self-interested, they seek wealth and power.
Is this too deep an argument for Canadians, particular in the West/BC, to understand? The recent BC election gives evidence they are starting to get it. The eco terrorists will likely overreach themselves and extinguish public goodwill anyway.
The Idle No More movement may have come to understand that, will the eco-idiots? Unlikely.

As everyone is already painfully aware, every Union Local can file separate donations up to the limit allowed. They’re not restrained by having a cumulative limit.

Sugar in gasoline does not have the immediate effect you want. Along with the sugar add a little water. The vehicle will not get 100 feet.
