Canadian police and intelligence agencies will announce later today they have thwarted a plot to carry out a major terrorist attack, arresting suspects in Ontario and Quebec, CBC News has learned.
Highly placed sources tell CBC News the alleged plotters have been under surveillance for more than a year in Quebec and southern Ontario.

    Given our Cdn. sentencing provisions these guys will be out and back on the street while still young enough to plan another attack.
    One of the problems with terrorists attacks is they feed off of each other.
    Having two miscreants shut down an entire city has been observed by jihadis and potential jihadis all over the world.
    It’s no coincidence the authorities decided to act and go public now.
    That local muslim community members assisted in alerting the authorities is a good thing.
    Mind you assisting the infidel against fellow muslims is a violation of Sharia law.

    DUH, Muslims at mosques all over Canada are cooperating with police. DUH, we would have got hit at least twice that we know of without that help. You two are mental if you think that’s not true.
    A lot of the doctors in city hospitals across Canada are Muslim. They’re reading your x-rays, checking your blood tests, sewing you up after hockey. You should think about that the next time you get sick.
    Does this alter the fact that there’s a whole bunch of violent a-holes in the world itching to blow up Canadians? No. Does it alter the fact that most of them are Muslims? No. What it does do is put the responsibility on YOU, as Canadians and as Christians, to pull the stick out of your @$$ and give credit where credit is due.
    Some Muslim guys and gals in Toronto and Ottawa and Montreal put their necks out for you, big time. It took big brass balls, and they didn’t have to do it. So you should do the manly thing: shut up and show some appreciation.

    Chiheb Esseghaier and Raed Jaser were arrested this morning in Toronto and Montreal. They are accused of plotting an Al-Qaeda-supported attack on a Via passenger train.

  23. Thus far the RCMP news conference suggests that the plot was to derail a VIA passenger train.
    Apparently, the plotters, foreign nationals, were getting support from Al Qaeda elements in Iran.

  27. The Phantom….it is not as simple as there are good people and bad people. Every religion has its extremist side, yet not every religion asserts superiority of supernatural being over the law of the land, not every religion organize youth camps where they learn making bombs. The Muslim parents may be great doctors, peaceful people, however their children with help of some imams can easily acquire hate for the humanity and express it in violent acts. The tolerance is a complicated business. Some social pressures are beneficial to the state of society.

    Yes. I agree. It is -also- not as simple as “those are all bad people”, which is a sentiment represented here at SDA occasionally. My comment is meant to nudge some thought into the “Muslim BAD!” crowd.
    We’re always saying “I’ll give those guys some slack when they step up and help nail one of these bombers.” I say that all the time. Well, some of ’em just did. So we should give some credit to those Muslims who helped this investigation along. Attaboy.
    Nor have I forgotten the bloody history of Islam. The Commies make them look like choirboys, but Muslims have done their best to be the worst they can be for a really long time.
    That makes it all the more welcome when individuals overcome their religion and behave as civilized men. Double attaboy.

  44. Phantom you’re incredibly naive and gullible. Speaking of Muslim doctors in Canada, I’ve had a couple encounters with said. I was ignored and all conversation regarding my reason for being there was directed at my husband-it was like I was not even in the room-he asked my husband what my symptoms were! He even gave my prescription and accompanying instructions and diagnosis explanation to my husband. I said, excuse me, but I can speak for myself, yet I continued to be ignored and he then gave my prescription and explanation of the diagnosis to my husband without even acknowleging me or what I had just stated.
    On another occasion, I was told I had to remove my shoes at a walk-in clinic where a Muslim doctor and other non-Muslim doctors were practicing-the patients assigned to the non-muslim doctors did not have to remove their shoes.
