Only 24 people attended the 2013 Saskatchewan Crowns Annual General Meeting held last night at NDP Headquarters, aka. Tommy Douglas House. There AGM was open to members and the public! No New Democrat’s decided to show up..

When did they lose the “Family of crowns” nomenclature?

Tommy Douglas House is located in the worst area of Regina, it may be that their greatest fans know enough to not go near there after dinner. Or they didn’t want to get caught up by those that photograph the Johns driving around the block. heh.
Is there a special room at Tommy Douglas House, a shrine I suppose, with one of the ultra rare copies of his masters thesis?

Looks a lot like the most recent anti-oil sands protest in Ottawa,or the student protest in Montreal.. I suspect you could get that many people to a ‘Save Revenue Canada’ rally..

All well and good, but is the sask party going to liquidate any of the crowns?
Otherwise the “save our crowns” organization could be poorly supported because their is no need for it – the crowns aren’t going anywhere.

God Rest Tommy Douglas’ soul!
Many many years ago ( while I was a youth) , I was totally taken up by Tommy Douglas as he preached the Gospel of my God and the “christ principle” and ministered and spoke for the poor in Saskatchewan.
But as time passed and Tommy was overtaken by his own “Ego” and self importance, Tommy lost his way and unbeknownst to himself, became a “communist,” the same brand ultimately as “Mao Tse Tung, Josef Stalin, Marx, Lenin or Trotsky!
Pity……..because Tommy Douglas , in my humble view was a Good Man of God” but lost his way, leaving a legacy of a screeching family of theatrical “commies”.
ie, Shirle (bomber) Douglas, Donald Sutherland, and Keifer (?) all celebrities in Canada, but sadly all “Commies” at heart.
Since we are near Easter Time on this plane of consciousness, and as much as I dislike communism, there are two people on this plane of existence, whom I should have liked to have met , Tommy Douglas the beautiful orator in Canada, and Catherine “Kate” McMillan a self admitted athiest ” yet most effective conservative blogger in Canada, surpassing Conrad Black and his National Post and Karl Peladeau’s QMI by MILES !!

Was Mad “The pipeline is a non-starter” Mulcair in attendance telling us what we can and can’t do in Western Canada? I don’t feel we see enough of him to really beneift from his insights into Western culture and values.
Crowns? At first I thought that Kate’s headline referred to the retaining of more barristers as Crown attorneys in Saskatchewan or perhaps an emotional appeal for no-name dental work…but begging for Crown Corporations? My goodness that is silly. Of course, if they were Liberals they would call them ‘Crowns If Necessary, But Not Necessarily Crowns, Canada’.
You’re doing in wrong. The photograph is supposed to be taken from the back row of the “crowd”, filling the frame with many people as possible, ensuring no open space, while accompanied by a headline such as “Concerned citizens rally to protect public interest from Harper government”

As a born-again atheist,I get little pleasure from this day now that I no longer get chocolate in disgusting amounts to rot my teeth.
As to the “crowns”, I have to agree with others here that the allegedly Conservative governments that we work hard to elect don’t seem to have much stomach for closing them down after they’re elected.
I suppose all political Parties want to have a way to reward their executives,and placement to a Crown is a lovely bit of patronage.
I had an email interaction with SOS Crowns a couple years ago when after I shared my opinion that their winning youth video entry was filled with factually incorrect information concerning the benefits of Crown Corporations versus private enterprise. The part of the interaction that will stick with me forever was when I pointed out that if they continued to use a @gmail.com email account as their organization’s official email then they were making my point for me. You can’t fix stupid.

Even their members couldn’t be bothered showing up.

Crowns?
I thought this was a “Game of Thrones” thread.
What is a Saskatchewan Crowns AGM and why should I care? I could google it but I feel as enthusiatic as the masses who turned out at this event.
OK, in a fit of laclustre indolence, I checked out their web site. It appears SOC is some kind of post-Leninist rearguard action to keep Saskatchewan enchained to the socialist doctrine of the public ownership of the means of production.
