Syncrude sends their regards;
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is conducting an investigation after a golden eagle was killed in late February at the Spring Valley Wind Farm, about 300 miles north of Las Vegas.
San Francisco-based Pattern Energy, which owns the 152-megawatt wind energy project, reported the dead bird and turned it over to federal authorities within 36 hours of its discovery.
“They did all the things they were supposed to because of an eagle death,” said Jeannie Stafford, spokeswoman for the Fish and Wildlife Service in Nevada.
Even so, the wind farm could face a fine of up to $200,000 because it does not hold a federal “take” permit that would allow the incidental death of a golden or bald eagle.

I thought those bird cuisinarts were given a special dispensation: their bird kills weren’t either newsworthy or punishable.
Perhaps, the California miasma must reach it’s peak just before it can be cleansed by St. Andreas.
Moses was distraught to find his people worshiping a golden calf. A few thousand years later Californians worship a golden eagle. Not much has changed.
So, they face a fine of $200,000 for slaughtering a rare eagle. Big deal.
What if they had killed a couple hundred over-populated ducks?
Oh…we all know how that goes….Hippo……..crits….?
Golden eagles are not rare. Their conservation status is LC, Least Concern.
Now they’re mauled eagles.
The report doesn’t say they’re rare, Oz, it says, “Those two species receive special protection under federal law dating to 1940.”
And the EPA is a law unto itself that doesn’t need to justify anything it does so it wouldn’t matter that in reality golden eagles aren’t endangered if the EPA decides to treat them that way. Polar bears aren’t endangered/near extinction either but are treated as if they are with the newly-minted “At Risk” designation.
I remember calculating the Syncrude fine for windmills in North America, I came up with 60 billion dollars per year.
Rob, that’s with subsidized fines, right?
They’d have to pay such a fine from subsidies, it’ll be interesting to see if this fine actually happens.
– not to mention the threat wind generation poses t the endangered Calif. Condors –

Ooops, big mistake…..some lacky from the energy company didn’t get out there in time to get rid of the evidence.
But on the upside, Obama and his cronies have found another new form of taxation which of course will be ultimately passed on to the consumer. So if a golden eagle is worth 200 big ones a bald eagle should be worth at least a half million, ordinary raptors at least 50 thousand and bats, we’ll give you a bargain five for a thousand dollar fine.
Is insanity contagious? If so keep me away from all politicians.
Come on you guys, be reasonable. The government has to find some way to get those windmill subsidies back, right?
The Won giveth with his right hand, he taketh back with his left. All hail The Won.

Ah,there IS a way out for the wind farms,an allowed to kill permit called by a name only a bureaucrat could dream up, a “take” permit.
I suggest the government expand this program to homeowners in high crime areas with a lot of burglaries and home invasions. The authorities could just give the armed residents a “give” permit, and they could “give” the criminals a blast of lead.
It’d cut down on policing and Court costs drastically in this brave new bureaucratic democracy.

You’re welcome.
This sorta reminds me of that farce when some Humane Society lost a court case and was ordered to pay damages… They protested their only source of funds was from donations and that the donors had not donated for these damages….
Can’t remember the resolution but if’n I had ta bet….

Well they should smarten up and pay the “Church” for their possible future transgressions!
