Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

So … just like a ‘self-driving’ Teslas t-boning me after running a red light?
Let me just say, for all the people wondering if Chinese robotics is The Future, capital T capital F, that China STILL IMPORTS 5-axis milling machines from Japan and Germany, because their own home-grown efforts don’t measure up.
Because they don’t have the control systems, they don’t have the libraries of programs, and they don’t have the connectivity.
So if the Chicoms are still on the back foot with CNC, how good is their robotics, really?
“So if the Chicoms are still on the back foot with CNC, how good is their robotics, really?”
As good as anything else they have bought or stolen. The Chinese copy and modify…they don’t innovate.
They’re learning to. And they’ve figured out how to scale. Something we lost the ability to do because we shuttered all of our manufacturing and put the people with those skills out of work.
That looks like me trying to get to the wine store only to find it’s not open at 8:30 am.
Oh, man, thanks for making me laugh.
I resemble that remark.
I feel that way every time I have to buy booze from a Canadian government liquor store.
Only you look like that trying to run out of the store.
I experienced the opposite: It’s 5:59 pm on Sunday and the closest BC liquor store closes at 6:00 pm. The blue wall is the automatic door not opening…
That is laugh out loud funny right there. Thanks for connecting us again! Reminds me of when I was on a safari jeep in South Africa and the guide explained that the hippos traveled 50 kilometers every night to their feeding grounds from their watering hole, but as the had such poor eyesight they peed about every 50 meters to leave a trail to follow back. My Viet Nam hero buddy said “sounds like me when I was drinking.”

Imagine if they weren’t flat footed and had some sense of direction.
The Chinese, that is.
Next time, just head him towards Canada. There’ll be no wall to stop him.
That’s amazing compared to 10 years ago.
If you don’t think so, that’s your right, but you’re really not paying attention, and that might make it hurt more.
You won’t have long to wait for the C.onstable O.n P.atrol variety that weighs 100 kilos and can crush your windpipe if you’re language gets too salty.
Oh yeah, and they’re connected to the AI Chief by wifi who’s been programmed by AI’s who were programmed by pencil-necked nerdlingers who were picked on in high school who are overseen by Safety Karens picked by a committee of Mewling Quims and Nutless Wonders with scores to settle.
You’re looking at a Model T.
In another ten years it’ll be a Ferrari.
A fcking scary Ferrari.
Yes … but as I learned from every 1950’s B-science fiction movie … we eventually find the Alien/robots weakness … spray them with a hose or some simple remedy … that saves mankind from being completely destroyed.
I will look to Hollywood to save me!
Wait. That doesn’t sound too encouraging …
Yeah…
No.
We’re pooched.
On topic …

The Flock, Store Bought Store Thought
Robot, robot arms and legs
Teeth, bones, hair, its all there
Robot, robot arms and legs
Battery’s dead, head’s dead.
(Mechanical man, mechanical man!)
Store bought, store thought
Humpty Dumpty sat on his wall
And I’ll give you odds of 10-1
Somebody pushed him just for fun.
Yeah another Chicago band from 1969. What the hell happened to Chicago since then!? Yeah, we all know what …
Great Tune BTW
Acid Jazz Fusion Prog Rock … yeah, I like that description!
“In another ten years it’ll be a Ferrari.”
Nope. Not from China. Did you miss my comment at the top? They can’t match Germany and Japan for 5-axis milling machines. Humanoid robots have a lot more going on than a CNC machine.
They could maybe -copy- one, but even then it’ll be tough for them. Nobody wants to be the guy that sticks his neck out, right?
The chicomms have infiltrated the west to such an extent that they likely lack for nothing.
“The chicomms have infiltrated the west to such an extent that they likely lack for nothing.”
Yes, that’s what I said about machine tools. And a lot of other things as well, They -know- how to build a rocket just like the Space X Falcon. You can tell, because they launched one the other day. But unlike the Falcon, the Chinese Tofu Rocket folded in half and exploded ten seconds into the flight.
Read that again, bro. It folded in half.
Same thing with tanks, missiles, air defense, cars, aircraft… Yes they have the plans for how to do it, but they still can’t do it. Because they suck that badly.
I’m old school with stereo equipment (British, American, Japanese). I took a chance and bought two Chinese amplifiers (one tube, another AB). They were so cheap I thought I could use them as a boat anchor if they were crap. Not crap. Very good, from the sound to the build. The Chinese will never lead but they can get very close behind and the prices are insane.
By the time Elon has robots going to Mars, the Chinese will have robots serving pâté and sparkling wine.
Sure, ok, not from China…but that’s not what I’m talking about.
I’m talking about how they’re using video games to teach quadraped robots, how they’re using Large Action Models.
American companies.
Its an arms race.
And I don’t think everything is predicated just on milling machine qualities.
Or at least not for much longer.

” Did you miss my comment at the top?”
Nope, looks same as the BULL’s pen floor, all shit and NO substance!
You sound like my friend Ron, when I mentioned China, he went into a negative rant, till I pulled out my phone and showed him China, then his jaw hit the pavement.
China is very capable of producing programming to match western ability.
Oh,and fantommy, the Chinese in Taiwan are leaders in chip and programing technology.
STFU GYM you know as much about the Chinese economy as you do on spelling and grammar.
個傻仔
Are you talking to me?
Taiwan is not a communist nation, dude. You racist or something?
Chicom China IMPORTS 5-axis machine tools because their’s suck. Despite them spending -billions- trying to build up their manufacturers. That’s just how it is, go look it up.
Maybe look up what a 5-axis machine tool is first, that way you won’t be 100% ignorant.
“My friend Ron” is likely some random anonymous anybody GYM blew in the Tim Horton’s parking lot last night. GYM’s jaw did all the dropping.
It knew it should have taken that left turn at Albuquerque!
At least it wasn’t a racehorse that I seen suffer a similar fate. The jockey jumped off instead of trying to push it to the left and the horse ran into the track fence. Yes, it had to be put down.
The problem with the Chinese is not technological. It’s corruption and graft. Every layer of every organization and in every step of every process there are individuals skimming off the top, using substandard material to scrape money, supervisors and QA people taking bribes and looking the other way. Everything is crap and substandard. The worse insult you can throw at a Chinese is saying that he paid full price for anything or didn’t get the best deal. And they will knowingly buy crap if it’s cheaper.
