Huh? I’m surprised the Algonquin didn’t demand a corresponding memorial to THEIR war dead … slaughtered in their sleep … women and children … genocided … by the white Euro Settlers on those stolen [sic] lands.
Oh. TRUTH and Reconciliation … yeah, that TRUTH part is messy, eh? As in … it didn’t happen.
The whole reconciliation thing is just fcking grift.

“Truth and Reconciliation” is an Orwellian term for Bull Shit and Extortion.
Who would know how many Algonquin people are involved in anything? When I signed up for the reserves 45 years ago nobody asked me if I belonged to any stone age tribes.
Well, one could take a deeper approach. When we honour soil with the bones of our lost, we should acknowledge whose soil it is. Honour is in a sense mutual.
And I’d like to think that this was the intention here. Perhaps even the achievement. But I fear being played for a fool by reality.
