    Or it might have been polar bears trying to save themselves from drowning?

  2. It’s been a long cold winter over most of North America but it isn’t the coldest on record nor are the summers recently the warmest on record. Read the farmer’s Almanac – it has a better record of predicting weather than Al Gore.

  3. It was interesting to read among the comments to the photo that Russian ice breakers are once again having difficulty in the Archangel area.
    The warmistas among the commenters to the photo are arguing that just out of sight of the view, to the left or the right, or maybe on the horizon, there is open water. I am by no means knowledgeable about arctic ice pack, but it makes sense that changing wind directions can create ice packs such as the photo depicts or open water within hours.

  5. History repeats,I guess. In the days of Franklin, the theory was that after the ships got through the initial ice pack,they would encounter a polar warm region and sail uninhibited through warm seas.
    Over the centuries this theory was thoroughly debunked,and in light of further exploration was deemed to be ridiculous. But the AGW crowd seems to gravitate toward the absurd,ignoring the buildup of the ice masses in the Antarctic while raging in panic at calving glaciers in the Arctic.
    There has been talk of regular shipping routes through the fabled Northwest Passage, due to open seas from global warming. Perhaps we should coin the term “Barrow-ites”,after the chief proponent of the warm polar seas theory circa 1800.
    We’ve had to endure the AGW bullshit for thirty years now,isn’t it about time they gave up and recognized the fact that the theory MIGHT have been wrong,as so many theories have proven to be?

  6. About a year ago, a commenter on WUWT put up a Utube of Tiny Tim, performance art, “The Ice Caps Are Melting”.
    Its creepy.
    I keep wondering if it should not be the rebuttal theme song for CAGW.
    These people who wet them selves, over the ebb and flow of arctic ice, glaciers, weather patterns and any cycle of nature, what is their age?
    Are the dominant doom sayers all near 60?
    Were they subjected to T.T on TV as children?
    Was this art more than they could bear?
    Their faith that the boogie man is real and manifest in the ice, is both touching and disturbing.

    In August, 1922, the Norwegian Department of Commerce sent an expedition to Spitzbergen and Bear Island under the leadership of Dr. Adolf Hoel, lecturer on geology at the University of Christiania.
    In connection with Dr. Hoel’s report, it is interest to note the unusually warm summer in Arctic Norway and the observations of Capt. Martin Ingebrigtsen, who has sailed the eastern Arctic for 54 years past. He says that he first noted warmer conditions in 1915, that since that time it has steadily gotten warmer, and that to-day the Arctic of that region is not recognizable as the same region of 1865 to 1917. Many old landmarks are so changed as to be unrecognizable. Where formerly great masses of ice were found, there are now often moraines, accumulations of earth and stones. At many points where glaciers formerly extended far into the sea they have entirely disappeared.
    The change in temperature, says Captain Ingebrigtsen has also brought about great change in the flora and fauna of the Arctic. This summer he sought for white fish in Spitzbergen waters. Formerly great shoals of them were found there. This year he saw none, although he visited all the old fishing grounds.”

    The only people who buy into this are either making a buck off it or are just plain stupid.
