Is That A Monument In Your Pocket?

Another good reason for women to arm themselves;

A tiny Vancouver park is at the centre of a monument war, pitting backers of a proposed monument to Irish Canadians against activists who feel its dominant “phallic” nature would violate the integrity of an existing Montreal Massacre memorial. […]
“Placing the [Ireland Canada Monument] design 80 feet from the women’s monument, which has vulva shapes engraved in the top of each of the 14 sarcophagi forms, is inappropriate and will be seen to be a violation by supporters,” wrote Chris McDowell, an activist and second-generation Irish Canadian who led a seven-year campaign to build the Marker of Change.

So you don’t end up as a “vulva shape” in a Vancouver park.

  1. For those playing at home:
Why is there a monument to a Montreal massacre in Vancouver?
Did it get lost? Was it kidnapped? Does anyone care?

  2. This story will provide entertainment for weeks, once the femaroids decide to exploit the attention for further goofy reasons.

  3. The activist makes a fatal flaw in logic by engaging in “Argumentum reductio ad vulvae”.
The correct question is not to ask what is or is not between their legs but rather what is between the activist’s ears?
At present all I can see is a whole lot of stupid…

  4. How could anyone with a brain be against birdbaths. In fact how does their twisted brains suddenly come up with the statement that they are vulva shaped. I looked at the link and the first thing that came to mind was a birdbath. Of course not being a porno freak, and never allowing it in my home out of respect for my wife and 2 daughters and several granddaughters maybe is unusual now a days. And since when does a celtic cross become phallic. These people are seriously brain damaged.

  5. They consider granite vulvas that represent actual women to not be explicit but a simple column is? Quick tear down the Vimy Ridge monument, every church steeple (and minaret too) and the CN tower as well, can’t have anything that looks phallic, it’s offensive.
Who designed this monument to Gamil Garbi’s victims? Isn’t the inclusion of a vulva objectifying these women as sexual objects only?
I don’t know about anyone else but I don’t want my tombstone to have an engraving of my private parts, a person is much more than that.

  6. Kate, never let these Femaroids ever find out about the giant Kubasa in Mundare Alberta.. They’ll blow an ovary..

  7. If it was a monument recognizing the rights of women to abort female fetuses they would have no problem with it.

  8. Just when you thought you couldn’t possibly hear a more asinine remark, WHAM!
A phallic obelisk offends vulval sarcophogi?
Sorry, Onion, you simply can’t make this stuff up!

  9. I squirm at the thought of the vandalism the feminists might commit after the statue’s erection.

  10. Johnny, this story will be providing laughter for week,s, we need to find a spot where we can goad these losers into a frothing rage over it..

  11. you guys are always criticizing Toronto, but we built one of the world’s largest free standing phallic symbols, and then built the world’s largest concrete vulva right next to it.

  12. Guess I should step in, as the adult, and settle the matter.
We need something that would be more inclusive, and less divisive.
Instead of the tall “phalic” form, a much more appropriate symbol in this sitution, would one along the lines of a sphincter.

  13. …..kneeling in prayer for the asteroid……
I’m personally looking forward to the self destruction of the western world. We deserve it.

  14. If the Irish monument is a phallic symbol to them they must walk around downtown Vancouver with a permanent orgasm going on. After all EVERY tall building to them probably also looks like a giant co*k.
    Get a grip.

  15. Yeah, just put a wet spot in the middle of those old blocks you can’t sell and some dopey chick will get you funding.

  16. My favorite part is the graffiti on the Montreal “monument”. Can’t you just see a bunch of skateboarding urchins bouncing off those things?
Robert, I bet you a dollar those bird bath shapes are full of cigarette butts and other crap. Real “respectful”.
By the way, why do Irish Canadians suddenly need a new monument? Did the Vancouver department of pointless statuary run out of things to do?
Maybe there’s a couple of rocks still trailing the recent asteroid that we could pray for.

  17. How about a hand grenade or a Molotov cocktail?
The Ireland Canada Monument website is a delight. “Non-sectarian” my granny. Only Teigs and plastic paddies bother with this garbage, building monuments to their own mediocrity. Nobody ever built Irish Protestants a monument for building everything worth preserving in the Queen’s dominions—and dying in Flanders in their thousands while the Teigs hid under the bed with the French Canadians. Even loyalist murals are painted on private property.
The motto of the Ireland Canada Monument committee is “There will never be the likes of us again.” One can only hope.
In the meantime, if we want to memorialize mass murder-suicide half a world away, put the names on the obelisk of the 2000 or more killed by Irish traitors and republicans, few of whom ever answered for their crimes if it wasn’t done by the men of the UVF and UDA. Another reason for women to be armed Kate—and women fought the IRA in Ulster too.
If there’s not room, better than nothing would be to leave the names out and inscribe in majuscule a message any Teig can easily interpret, three letters per pillon. “FTP AND THE IRA.”

  18. I have the peacemaking solution, the centre marker should list the names of the surrender monkeys, who abandoned these young women in their moment of need.
I notice that the press continues to glorify Mark Lepene and encourage losers like him.
That worms name should have become lost to history, henceforth known as the “loser who gunned down..”I am sure most reporters could not name 1 of the victims , same for us in the public, yet all know the killers name.

  19. “Why is there a monument to a Montreal massacre in Vancouver?”
I was wondering about that, too..

  20. Like I said over at BCF:
Penises are a fact of life. Get over it, feminazis.
What seems very odd and inappropriate is the vulva shapes engraved in the top of each of the 14 sarcophagi forms.
Penises vs vulvas put me in mind of dueling banjos. But why should they be dueling? Don’t they go together — at least in normal company?

  21. Just to be clear here, I don’t for a minute think they give a sh*t about the Irish Memorial; they just don’t want to share any space with ‘their’ precious monument. It might distract from their mythology.

  22. Oh, now I get it. ‘Just actually looked at the proposed monument.
It’s not the “phallic” nature of the monument that offends the feminazis. It’s the Christian theme, the Celtic cross on the main pedestal, that has their knickers in a knot.
These women really are despicable. They’re anti-Christian bigots who demand their freedom of expression rights but deny them — and freedom of religion rights — to others. I am sick and tired of their bitching and their meanness of spirit.

  23. Can’t we just cover it with a condom? If that’s not enough, lets erect a granite sculpture of a coat hanger in the spirit of personal choice.

  24. “…that has their knickers in a knot….”
and their knockers in a knit…homespun, of course.

  25. I guess the fact that winos piss in these “vulva” sculptures nightly doesn’t bother them whatsoever. I used to live near Thornton Park once, and you could smell the urine from Main Street! Ridiculous what they call art nowadays!

  26. I think I’ve just entered the very real Twilight Zone. The only salvation is that the more they disgust us with their nonsense (all of the ‘vocal minorities’) the more we start to undo the tangled web of political correctness that has been strangling us for a couple of decades.
I find myself saying things these days that I would never have spoken aloud 15 or 20 years ago. I’m actually starting to enjoy it. I feel entitled to my attitude.

  27. Bingo Hans.
Robert is right about insane people taking over. Look at the Saskatoon HRC thread.
Eskimo, it appears that bit by bit, here and there, this is exactly what is happening. We are destroying ourselves like the Romans did, and the camel jockeys will pick up the pieces.
gobi desert, it is not just Vancouver.
batb, exactly, it is their inner Marx oozing out in their nethers.

  28. Who would have thought? Public benches with vulvas carved into them!
Generally speaking, this sort of thing is available through the internet via an enterprising small businessman – provided one has a valid credit card.
I suppose these vulva-containing benches in the park are just another tax-payer subsidy.

  29. ” … private parts, a person is much more than that. ”
Not to some people we’re not.

  30. They quietly took over while the rest of us were working, raising families, paying taxes and not paying attention.

  31. David, boy did you ever nail it. The radical left’s 24/7 aim is work continuously to take over municipal, provincial and federal governments as well as any organizations that are able to influence any governance. It is called the sovietization of society.

  32. I hope alderman Duh Farrell in Calgary doesnt see these ,her end of the POS bridge could use something to stop the bikes from flying onto Memorial drive since the city cant bother to finish the rails on the fence

  33. So they do the very thing that they complain that men do: reducing women to a body part.
Amazing how they are worse than what they complain about. Bunch of dumb c….oh…heh heh, I shouldn’t sink to their level!

  34. “So you don’t end up as a “vulva shape” in a Vancouver park.”
LOL. My first thought was “I’d HATE to have a memorial like that!”

  35. RFB >
“And since when does a celtic cross become phallic.”
It’s not about Celtic or Phallic symbols it’s about the cross. If this was a new mosque where women were banned from entry they’d have donuts and Kool-Aid outside at the opening.

  36. Considering we apparently can’t have statues or other objects that a feminist may regard as phallic, I guess it’s time to tear down the Wawa Goose:)

  37. Questions abound.
Why a memorial to the Montreal massacre in Vancouver?
Is that really a vulva carved into those “benches”?
Shouldn’t there be shrubbery or at least a bush in these flowerpots?
    Who really cares?
