Five days ago I critiqued a shoddy paper by Brysse et al. 2013 which appeared in the journal Global Environmental Change. Today I received notice from the editor-in chief and executive editor that I have been asked to “step down from the journal.” They say that it is to “give other scientists the chance to gain experience of editorial duties.”
Over the past 20 years I have served on the editorial boards of about a dozen or so academic journals. I have rolled off some when my term was up, and continued for many years with others. I have never received a mid-term request to step down from any journal. My 6 years with the GEC editorial board is not long in academia, and certainly much shorter than many other serving members.
Are my critique and the request to step down related? I can’t say. It is interesting timing to be sure.
Dr.Pielke can bet his next pay check from “big oil”(/sarc) that it is DIRECTLY involved. Effin eco-cultists and their useful idiots need to be taken out back of the woodshed pronto.

By purging themselves of editors with their feet on ground, these journals perhaps figure they’ve gotten away with something. But in the long term it harms the quality of the papers, and thus the reputation of the journal.
And that, my dear skeptics, is the most effective way to achieve a scientific consensus. Conform or perish.

After all, his many books and dozens of peer reviewed publications have been cited by other scientists a measly 7738 times.

Yup, that’s how academia works. It’s all about internal politics, not about science. Most are over-educated, and common-sense stupid.
The liberal useful idiots who follow AGW like a cult, most of them don’t even have a Technical, or a Science Degree. Case in point, my niece, she parades around like a Global Warming Expert, says she has a Master’s, one day I asked her Mom, casually, what her Master’s was in, Sociology, but she works for the Sierra Club.
Back at Christmas we drew each other’s name and exchanged gifts, she gave me a 4-pack of the lil twirly energy efficient light bulbs from china, I gave her some drawing paper and crayons. Man, was she pissed.
Purging those in academia who slip thru the leftard hiring process in the first place is standard operating procedure. No? To my knowledge it is.
Opposition to ‘private’ education by the public sector has as much to do with challenging ‘independant thought’ as it does to the reduction in public sector cash flow.
This is another example of why the western collapse continues unabated.
Obviously Pielke discovered an Inconvenient Truth, so he had to go.
