Not only are the Liberals forcing electricity consumers (us) to spend outrageous amounts of cash buying wind power via the 20-year, no-cut contracts they’ve signed with the wind industry, they’ve also stipulated that whenever wind power is produced, it has to be bought before all other forms of energy.
And since we have an energy surplus in Ontario because of our depressed economy, when the province buys wind power, it has to dump cheaper forms of energy like hydro power, or sell it, often at a loss, to Quebec or the U.S.
All of which raises the question- at what point do acts of wanton disregard for the public good become criminal acts?
Rich- As soon as the voting public recognize the scam, and end it; and not before then. Why don’t you get involved, politically, in the sense of making the pols feel the heat from the grassroots ( as they never, ever, see these things in terms of right and wrong. )
Its one thing to expose the waste regarding wind generation, its fully another to expose the fraud that is AGW – that man made C02 is going to affect the climate.
If we had more journalists calling out the fraud that it is, there would be even less public support for nonsensical ancient technology.
However, Lorrie Goldstein is not one of those journalists. You will never see him write a column exposing the fraud of AGW for one simple reason – he believes it to be true.
As such he enables the very problems he then criticizes.
It does little good to expose the symptoms of the problem while ignoring the root cause.

I would suggest that the Wind boys only get paid by generating their absurd power, My suggestion is, that every wind farm have a daily i,inspection and any, bird, frog, mouse found dead on the property, be grounds for shutting the operation down till there’s a complete, wildlife audit done, complete with a remediation plan, and a substantial fine, plus a significant victims of violence surcharge (Donated to the Ontario Hunting Community, CSSA, springs to mind) . Only then are they able to restart, and only under conditional permits..

The AGW scam is that humans are “causing” global warming and changing the climate. Credible scientists have proven that the human effect on the natural warming is small but insignificant in relation to natural forces.
Yes, ethanol made from corn is a scam, primarily because it takes as much energy to make a liter of ethanol as the energy contained in the ethanol. Ethanol is made from feed corn which is primarily grown for animal feed and the corn sugar used in almost all junk food. Is the author of the comment that this is ‘taking food out of the world’s children’s mouths’ suggesting that the feed corn should be exported to feed the starving millions in the world’s mega slums? If so, why should corn producers do this and further increase overpopulation in those places where people can’t feed themselves.

john, ron and ward, with respect, I do not agree with your assessment of Lorrie Goldstein. He has been exposing the fraud of AGW, carbon credits etc for years. Furthermore I frequently corresponded with him over these years by email about many of his articles. I saved the email responses and copied and pasted a few of the articles into my files.
Ken – I do not know if Kory has influence over Lorrie, but I have never heard Ezra, Lilley and crew speak negatively about ethanol. No one can entirely expose climate alarmism without mentioning all! of the big ones – high power prices, ethanol, carbon dioxide scam, fearmongering, ect.

Of course, our diligent media have avoided mentioning this during their euphoric coverage of her coronation. It’s not like she refuses to endorse the gay pride parade.

I used to correspond with him (and other journos)on a number of issues – to try to correct the record that I felt was being incorrectly reported.
AGW was one of the topics. I finally asked him outright, why he continues to produce articles that nibble around the edges of the AGW issue, but never come out and actuall call it the fraud that it is.
His reply to me was the reason he did not was because he believes it to be true. (my jaw hit the floor)
I wrote one further email to him expressing my disbelief, and have not bothered since.
Lorrie continues to do the same thing – loosely criticize issues surrounding AGW as a substitute to actually doing so.
I think he is being fundamentally dishonest and should come right out and state his position.
As Ezra has had him on The Source regularly as an AGW critic I wrote to Ezra and asked him if he was aware of Lorrie’s position, and that he might ask him to clarify what it is, while Lorrie is on his show.
I may have missed it but dissappointingly I don’t think he ever did.
(Also – his reporting on Conrad Blacks show trial might as well have been written by Heather Malice. And he is supposed to be on the right side of the spectrum?)

Of course you’re right — it’s about the economy and energy and all the issues related thereto in Ontario today, and about how we’re going to unravel the rat’s nest that the Liberals, supported by their NDP fellow travelers, have gotten us into over nine years of ideologically-driven mismanagement. It’s definitely not about downtown-Toronto sexual identity-group politics.
But you can hardly blame RFB for commenting on the latter subject — it was front and centre in Ms. Wynne’s victory speech last evening, as both City TV trumpeted in their lead story at 11:00 p.m. last evening and the CBC echoed this morning. I’d be careful to avoid taking the left’s part on this — they’re the ones that have raised the matter, not us. Naturally, that won’t stop them from calling us a bunch of bigots for rejecting their irrelevant narrative and constructing our own practical one. Not being one for double-standards, though, I would have thought that, if “the state has no business in the bedrooms of the nation”, the bedrooms of the nation have no business in the affairs of state. The left’s failure to understand their mistake in this regard certainly had folks riled up around the breakfast table at my house this morning.

Lorrie has always said that from the evidence he has read that some amount of man made CO2 has some effect on the temperature of the earth. The amount of the effect and the methods advocated to mitigate it is what he has been arguing against. Same position that Lord Moncton and Anthony Watts take. Even Mark Styne has a similar position. Where the fraud or hoax comes into play is the rent seeking ‘sciencyists’ and politicians looking at ways to get ever more money out of an already dry cow and using this as an excuse to bring about their socialist utopia.
