If the electric car WERE to catch on I see two types of rolling brown outs in the future. first there will be brownouts caused by failures of the infostructure for power distribution that will be unable to cope with the deman. second there will be a plethera of stranded (brownout) units on the road where premature battery failure occurred or the owner tried to push the envelope too far.

There’s such an easy answer. Go to California or Hawaii and buy one of the abandoned Carter-era wind turbines (they ought to be pretty cheap) and bolt it to the roof to recharge the battery.

When the supply of those runs out, there should be plenty more available in Ontario.

If you have your own off-grid source of renewable electricity, then a sparky car might make sense. In almost every other case it just means more dirty polluting coal will be burned to charge them.
It’s 30 below today, my gasoline car will start and keep me warm, a sparky car won’t.

I recycle as a side job, those batteries have me drooling!!!!!

Funny this reminds me of an earlier battery scam.
Remember back in the 90’s when they nailed ya $5 to dispose of your old car battery? What they did was sell that battery to a guy with a truck for $5…who in turn sold them to a larger recycler.
Then they started charging you $5 if you didn’t give them your old battery….same drill…
Scrap large steel case fork lift batteries bring $200-300. This notion of having to pay for disposal of these EV car batteries is just an extension of the whole EV car scam….betcha….

Here the C-Tire charges a non-refundable eco-fee on every vehicle battery whether or not you bring the old one in. Walmart charges a deposit which is refunded when you bring the old battery in.

I think that was mostly sarcasm on justthinkin’s part. I can’t tell if his mistreatment of the 1st law of thermodynamics on point 4 is also sarcasm honestly.
The whole electric car market depends solely on tyrants such as everyone’s favorite Fascocrats and the One being able to sufficiently distort the market to somehow make so-called renewable sources cost-effective versus conventional sources. Current technology and reality is not agreeing with their world view, and they even more idiotically for typical sensationalized knee-jerk politically expedient reasons, revile the clear benefits of immediate application of nuclear to their stated mission of eliminating pollution. Obviously to them it’s not c02 that must burn, pardon the pun, but modern civilization. They are all misanthropic misers.
