  1. On the Tony Robbins website, he promotes “The Firewalk Experience,” a process where people walk across coals between 1,200 and 2,000 degrees Fahrenheit.
What could possibly go wrong? I mean everyone has callouses 3 inches thick on the soles of their feet, right?
This is another version of the “Do It Yourself BBQ”.
Sure, no problem let me just don my fire suppression suit.

  2. Everyone wants to believe in something. People instinctively try to fill their life with meaning.
In the past people had religion to fill their life with meaning. Now the enlightened among us use things like mysticism, self esteem seminars, environmentalism, and progress politics to try to fill that void.

  3. Once Tony finishes with them, they will be ready for the next step in their spiritual progress: mystical kool-aid tasting in the jungles of Guyana.

  4. How far has Tony Robbins gone. I remember his haydays when he filled conferences here in Calgary, even when we remote linked in.
    But firewalking? That’s occult.

  5. Wasn’t Tony Robbins the guy that Bruce McNall hired to motivate the LA Kings when Gretzky took them to the Stanley Cup finals?
Whoever it was that motivated them, they still lost to Montreal.
Motivational speaker,or bullshit artist? Only his conscience knows for sure.

  6. One of the true believers was heard chanting as he ran across the hot coals..
“OH! OH! OH! OH! OH! OH! OH!”
“ITS HOT! ITS HOT! ITS HOT!
ITS HOT! ITS HOT! ITS HOT!”

  7. Oh, for heaven’s sake. Firewalking is safe if done properly and there’s nothing mystical about it. It works on the same principle as dipping your fingers in water and then plunging them into a beaker of molten lead, a trick high school chemistry teachers have been doing since forever.

  8. If everyone could fire walk without getting burned it wouldn’t make it very mystical anymore now would it?

  9. Let me know when their next meeting is so I can set up my smart pill franchise in front.

“same principle as dipping your fingers in water and then plunging them into a beaker of molten lead”
You’re not serious are you? I’ve never heard of this and certainly never witnessed it.

  11. Daniel: Dipping for a second or two, and walking for 10 seconds across hot coals are two different things. For starters consider the area of exposure is greater with the feet, and consider the weight/gravitational factor applies more radiant exposure as well.
    Apples and oranges.
ChrisinMB- is it mystical if you put your faith and false hope in it. I guess you could use the same logic with the Ouiji board, but therein you are mistaken as well.

  12. I did the firewalk with Robbins in Vancouver when he was about 18 years old and just starting out. Piece of cake. Nothing to it. Got a very small burn between two small toes where a coal got stuck on the way across, but you’d have to be a pussy to call it a serious injury.

  13. Whether it’s fire walking, or a seminar on how to pick up chicks, Tony has latched on to the ultimate licence to print money.
Nobody in the main stream media has attacked him, presumably one can guess that he has enough on the “credit” side of public opinion, or that they (the media) surmise that he’s one of them.
I’m going to go out on a limb here, but I’m guessing this is just the first time that the outcome of one of Tonys unsuccessful fire walks was actually reported on.
Maybe they thought he was getting vetted to be Mitts running mate and this was just a warning shot from the media.

  15. Some people can “eat fire” and “swallow swords” too. But you need a lot more than the power of positive thought to do it without killing yourself.

  16. I wasn’t at the recent San Jose event, but I’m usually a fire lane trainer at the Tony Robbins Firewalks.
I am also on the medical team. Typically, out of 3-5 thousand people who walk across the coals, we get 1-3 people who want to put their feet into cool water for 5 minutes before continuing on with their night.
I’ve walked the coals myself, 12 or 13 times, got a tiny warm spot 3 of those times, nothing to complain about, no blister, no burn.
In Ontario, 2 years ago, I did an impromptu firewalk at a regular campground. 150 people walked, no injuries.
It’s really not that big a deal. The idea is to do something that you are afraid of, to take the first step.
