1. Loose cable eh??? Something so simple,and yet they still applied a magnitude of at least a million of the true scientific method to this test compared to the eco-cultists and warmnistas of cAGW. The climate “scientists” have more mental/ethical faults then just a loose cable!

2. The best ‘comment’ was this one: Einstein already knew about this phenomeneon. He called it the Theory of Connectivity.

3. Real scientists applying real scientific method to a real scientific theory.
   This must be an entirely confusing concept for Dr Fruitfly and the Goracle.

8. I had to read this one twice to get it:
   The bartender says, “we don’t allow faster than the speed of light neutrino’s in here.” A neutrino walks into a bar.

9. I do feel happy about this result. Physical theory as it stands is esthetically satisfying (see the Wikipedia article on the Dirac electron as an example), fairly self-consistent, etc. Having to rejigger it would be a huge task; and who knows what the result would be? However, the jury is still out on this superluminal-neutrino result.
   An equally revolutionary notion is that Newton’s law F=ma is incorrect; or only approximately true. This can explain the observed rotation curves of spiral galaxies, specifically the constancy of speed of the stars at larger and larger distances from the centre, without invoking dark matter. There are considerable problems with this idea (the Wikipedia article on Modified Newtonian Dynamics is good) but the jury is also still out.
   So much for settled science. As I have said before in this blog, the “climate” “scientists”, the ones who are not crooks, usually display intellectual powers that are decidedly modest.

10. Atlantic Jim, I would suggest besides having a loose cable, that they also have a few loose screws such as the fraudulent Heartland case.

    After reading this, I find it quite apparent that what the CERNons have discovered is a way to measure the accuracy of their GPS systems.
    By my calculations (based on media data),over a span of 730km (underground) they have erred by 1.799cm. (453.6mi. .7in.)

    This fully justifies my use of middle school math to question the results of quantum physicists. I will file this under I am no longer a horse’s ass.

17. “Settled science”, if referring to physics, does work extremely well except in extreme cases – the suggested breakdowns occur for neutrinos travelling near the speed of light (which they mostly do) or for galaxies, or for very high energies, or possibly in the very early universe. For planetary motion, missile trajectories, aircraft simulators, atomic and molecular structure, GPS systems, etc., theory agrees with experiment within experimental uncertainty.

18. How anyone can declare the speed of light a constant based on the thinnest of evidence is beyond my thinking. Light can be slowed down to a zero speed with certain media. Einstein would say that for one travelling toward the sun at 25000 mph and one travelling away from the sun at 25000 mph, light from the sun will strike them with a speed of C. It makes no sense. And his time dilation theory just completes the madness.
    When we liberate ourselves from this tiny world, a lot of accepted theories will disappear.
