Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

Maybe they could turn it into a mulistory Walmart?
Better use,and maybe some rent.
Turn it into a water park
There’s no such thing as “social infrastructure”.
“””There’s no such thing as “social infrastructure”.”””
welfare housing, with driveways so the beer delivery truck has some were to park when delivering “social happy packs”????
I’ll help you out, GYM, because I’m frightened of gypsies 😉
Trying For Leeds silver certification alone would insure this white elephant would never come in on budget. Being greener tha green is very expensive. At least now it can decompose with no harm to Gaia.
Wow. Look at the size of that thing.
$$$$Cha-Ching$$$$$
I think they should turn it into a great big fat mosque. That would be in the spirit of human rights and peace wouldn’t it?
Why is everyone looking at me like that…?
I think it would make a great MacDonalds.
Correction’ social infrastructure is not a tax pipline to nowhere, it is a pipeline that funnels tax money to a vast network of crony vendors, unproductive civil service sectors, redundent administrative offices and hundreds of other parasites sucking on the public teat. This is hush money to keep them quiet. In the Librano era, the pipeline went directly to patronage clientele. Now the money goes to keep the hundreds of squeeky subsidy dependent contractors quiet and not giving the anti-Harper press any ammo.
“Social Infrastructure” is purely soviet in nature. It is merely a term for the same old products of our various Ministries of The Public Good, but expressed in newer-speak.
You have to admire Manitoba. The NDP, having driven out all the business, has essentially made Manitoba recession proof. They need more bogus museums and more sports venues – more Aspers?
I also keep hearing the concept of ‘social contract’ from my kids.
Apparently, taxes are the price we have to pay to build a society and that’s part of the social contract.
I’m sure social contract and social infrastructure are somehow related.
Just seems like a method by which our ‘superiors’ can extract money. In other words, legalized thievery.
Manitoba,my old home Province, should simply do something like B.C does when we have to pay for a white elephant, hit the taxpayer’s with a morally unassailable “fee”.
For starters, try a 5 cents/litre carbon tax,and if that doesn’t bring in enough to finish this boondoggle/debacle, add a few cents to tobacco and liquor.
You know, when I left,Manitoba was fairly well run by Duff Roblin and Winnipeg by Steven Juba, what happened?
Set you free, you forgot “social justice” in your listing of social contract and social infrastructure. All good Soviet terms.
