Y2Kyoto: This Is Awkward

WUWT;

After I showed the original press release contained not one mention of “global warming” or “climate change”, one of our readers decided to ask the researcher about this statement attributed to to Jessica Morgan in that Business Insider story…

  1. When I read “hybrid” I was thinking they got JAWS installed with solar panels or batteries that can work with salt water.

  2. Another so called reporter who lives in a bubble. Shark proof no doubt. Never trust the press.

  3. The earliest known sharks date from more than 420 million years ago. Since then the earth has been much warmer and much colder than now, many times. Humans have been around maybe 3 million years. Sharks are way more adaptable, and will likely still be here in some form long after humans are extinct.

  4. if I remember correctly crossbreeding cannot be done interspecies. they have to be able to reproduce again , ie a mule is not a species but a hybrid. so , if this is a hybrid , its a singleton. I might have to check with Dr. Fruitfly about it. nah.

  5. Im sure that interbreeding is as common in sharks as all other species. To blame it on temperature is quite a stretch. Sharks may be a lot like people, where anything could look good after 2 am.

  6. The reporter that invented and added the GW quote where none existed from the researcher has a degree in Journalism with a minor in Geography, both of which, combined are de-facto code words for green narrative pabulum dispersal.

  7. This from the people who on land lost track of 250,000 head of caribou.
It’s a BIG ocean, know telling how long these sharks have been cross breeding and it’s just been discovered now.
“Oh, look what we found…they must never have existed before we found them just now and they must be the result of our favourite recent new political hobby horse.”/off airhead Lefty Journo
    *gag*

  8. Not a criticism…
“To blame it on temperature is quite a stretch.” The point of the WUWT article was to dispute the “blame” fabricated by the “reporter.” The researchers did not blame GW/CC. It was the boron “reporter” and her idiot editors who created the misleading title. Just wanted to clear that up.

  9. Black tips inbreeding-
Is that like leaving my warm climate home,
going up into the cold mountains to a Family Reunion,
so I can pick up a cousin black tipped chick?

    Still makes me grin..

  10. Well, well, well. My eyes rolled when I first read about this “evidence” of global warming. Now I think I’m going to retch.

  11. A dog breed can be radically changed inside of a couple of generations and Business Insider’s headline writer is raising the alarm about a shark hybrid? Clearly the story proves that we’re NOT killing the planet – “Gaia” adapts to the new conditions. Darwin had a name for the process: EVOLUTION.

  12. Well I swordfish she’d come back to me, I’m just urchin to hoist her in my arms and show her a whale of a time. I kelp her pickeral in my wallet but I don’t think she kelped mine in her perch. But she’d probably pike right up and say, not tonight sucker, I’ve got a haddock.Well I’d guess I best quit all this sea horsin’ around in case all you fine people go into a state of shark.
…from an old song, can’t remember the writers.

  13. If I ever come across a Husky humpin’ a Chihuahua, I’ll be sure to let the MSM know…after I apply for the research grant, of course.

  14. Just another graduate of the “School of Make Sh*T Up If You Want Journalism”
    They are everywhere these days.

  15. This is ‘progressive’ journalism. What one does is take a story and then progress it to reflect your point of view.
It’s not surprising that you receive a B.S. in this discipline.

  16. What Fred and wallyj said.
I suspect that journalistic inbreeding is the real cause.

  17. Me thinks its time for some of these kooks to be on Jerry Springer. Always good for a laugh. By the way is anyone in western Canada really upset about this global warming thing, think I’ll go put my beach shorts on today.

  18. The fact that Jessica Morgan never said anything about global warming, is just another inconvenient truth.

  19. Often the B.S. designation, especially in “journalism”, gets different meaning alltogether.

  20. Animals adapting to a change in their environment. Radical and unprecedented thought! I wonder if humans could be possible of that?

  21. Every year the researchers find something in the ocean’s that they didn’t know was there…..it’s always the same…they know every things about the oceans….except….///
