Though the MSM hasn’t left the Obama reservation, it appears that some members are dipping their toes outside of it. Remember those days of glory a few short years ago when similar nonsense and outright lies were lauded as “brilliant”?!

His base? He has lost the Hispanics in Florida…if he ever had them….the Blacks are not happy because he didn’t give them a car and pay their mortgage…Then there is the phony unemployment stats which are meaningless to those without a job…lossing/lost their house….benefits gone.

Just spent 2 weeks with Americans. Lots of dialogue, mainly about health care and the Keystone XL pipeline.
Funny thing though, not one mentioned their President nor did they want to talk politics.
I gathered that they were embarrassed that they elected Obama and are shameful for that.
And by the way,this crossed colour lines. Neither blacks nor whites wanted to speak to the issue.
I suspect polls showing his popularity indicate a good natured, already over him, attitude. They don’t hold a grudge, they just want him gone. For example, all his polices poll badly.
The thing you have to remember, always and at every minute, is that Obama has no ability to connect to reality.
Obama lives, totally, outside of reality. He lives within a virtual world. An imaginary world. Made up totally..of words.His words. These words have no connection to reality. The normal use of a word, eg, ‘work’ is connected to the physical reality of working. But for Obama, the existence of a word is not to represent reality but to persuade you to be within His control.
What we all know as facts don’t exist for Obama. The data that he refers to in his speeches are not representing reality but are instead images to persuade you to accept His Will.
The more Obama talks, the less people are listening to him. And, after all, apart from golf, vacations and talk, there’s nothing else to Obama. People are not going to turn against him, violently, because he is so amorphous, so imaginary himself, that there is really nothing to pin your rejection on.
After all, his amorphous imaginary nature extends to his past; we know almost nothing factual about his past. The little we know is vague and ‘soft’; we know he voted ‘present’ in his time as senator; we know that he did nothing, wrote nothing, published nothing, in his time as editor of the Harvard Law Review..and so on.
He has accomplished nothing constructive but to increase, massively, the debt and deficit levels of the government; he has polarized the population into adversarial identity blocs based around class, race, ethnicity, religion.
Because of that amorphous nature, however, I suggest that people will simply treat him as..amorphous..and move on to another president.
So many of the voters here are idiots that still get their “information” from NBC and their ilk. Just the other day I was on a flight and overheard the woman behind me say to the guy sitting beside her “yeah, Obama is in way over his head…but I’ll vote for him again anyway.” Sad, and scary.
Oh, the US has much to learn yet, and Obama will be their teacher. I predict that he will be good at it.
It might be curious to say, but there is predictive power in regarding Obama as a scourge sent from God.
I don’t think there will be much of a recovery until Americans apologise to God for their offenses,
including the vicious slanders of George W. Bush and Sarah Palin.
One could construct a sociological/psychological argument tending to the same conclusion but frankly the religious argument is the better one.
One thing to keep in mind is that the average voter can hear the same nonsense every election and actually believe whatever is thrown at them. SDA followers will actually look at the facts and dismiss the rhetoric, but sometimes I will watch NBC and marvel at the warped humanity that saturates their time slots. These are the Obama people and they are legion. No amount of logic or common sense will sway them from the belief that the chosen one needs more time to turn the country around. Obama is a great orator and like all politicians will turn statistics and facts into the pretzel that suits his needs.
So the survival of the country will come down to how many people will weigh the facts and how many will believe the bullshit. If SDA were a forum, Obama wouldn’t qualify to run a hot dog stand. NBC has the same opinion about Fox followers. The question in the coming months will be “who really is the majority” in America ? The side that wants the freebees or the side that wants to cut them. Bets are on, but my own opinion is that it will be close.
I’m not sure how to phrase this as I don’t consider myself to be exceptional. However, I am politically interested and read voraciously – not only from conservative sources, but from liberal media as well.
Nonetheless, I am often surprised and sadly, disappointed in the feedback I get from people whom I know and otherwise respect. So many of them reflexively regurgitate the liberal talking points regarding figures such as Sarah Palin or the current field of Republican nomination seekers. Yet if pressed (and press them, I do) none of them are able to justify or defend their position.
A friend I spoke with recently just couldn’t grasp the intricacies of the Muslim prayers in a Toronto public school. For her, the school boards rationale of reducing ‘truancy’ was enough to settle the issue and no further discussion was warranted.
That’s the scary part about U.S. politics. I have a certain admiration for the passion and fury of politics of the fully engaged, both right and left – but the apathy and lack of knowledge of the great middle ground is deeply disturbing.

Yup, and both sides count on that. The main reason “attack” ads still work. A thirty second drive-by smear that doesn’t interupt the half hour sit-com the viewer is watching. That’s the depth of many voters. Partial truths and twisted facts that leave a impression carried to the voting booth. For those that can be bothered to vote.

We can see the light at the end of the tunnel, but many of us know it’s another train. Yet many of my friends get a blank look as soon as the subject turns to politics. I have (otherwise) intelligent friends who think Obama is doing a great job. We agree to disagree. My wise old pappy tought me never to argue politics or religion because you can’t win with either. Frustration is the end result when you think to yourself : why couldn’t they see this coming”?
We can only do what we can. Not our train.
The only reason IMO that Obama is still viable is the sorry state of Republican options. As the GOP dithers Obama is getting his ducks in a row. The left wing PR campaign hasn’t even got into serious gear yet.
I certainly agree that political awareness is only skin deep in the USA and even less so in Canada. In either country you can find many who take pride in voting as their ancestors have for generations. Laughingly the MSM almost celebrate that type of thinking.
Both countries suffer from a public who absolutely refuse to consider the bankruptcy of the entitlements they so confidently think will provide for them. They let the politicans and the media off the hook by not making it a major election issue. The last federal election in Canada is clear proof of this.
I’m going to be in Hawaii the same time as the first family of Kenya……uh…..the United States. So long as they stick to their arrival/departure schedule, everything should go fine. Now this morning comes word Michelle may travel ahead of jug ears causing more chaos with security at Honolulu International, an extra motorcade, etc. So much for his recent executive order demanding all civil servants do their part in saving the taxpayer money.
Both the Obama’s and my family will be stayIng in beachfront homes. The difference being ours will cost $110 per night while the Obama’s will be $3500. Good to see they are being frugal. While planning our vacation I found that you can spent $7000 even $10,000 per night on Oahu!
The US news networks have much to answer for. But the longer I watch them the more I’m inclined to ascribe their failures to laziness and incompetence rather than bias. The Penn State story was right there in front of everybody for years and a 24 year old reporter for the local daily got it. Because she worked hard. The national guys don’t.

If the Penn State guy had ever once taken an incorrect political stance, don’t you think they’d have nailed his dick to the wall right off the bat?
