The Days Before Christmas . . . in Afghanistan

While you’re fighting the crowds during your Christmas shopping, do try to remember how some of your fellow North Americans are spending their time:

  1. “While you’re fighting the crowds during your Christmas shopping, do try to remember how some of your fellow North Americans are spending their time”:
Yes,but the shoppers are fighting for something tangible, the latest Ipod, video game,or Justin Bieber CD,while the soldiers are fighting for……..

  2. It’s high time they let these brave men take the gloves off, and finish the fight, as was done in Iraq. Kill the insurgents, and let the Afghans do the nation building.

  3. There are no people I respect and admire more.
It is the pond scum that send them there and keep them there that need to be shot. Unless they can convince me that they are there for a good reason and have the mandate and support to win whatever it is they are supposed to win … even that has never been made clear.
Otherwise, these brave boys and girls are being murdered by their own governments.
Get out of all muslim cesspools now! Left on their own, they will kill more of each other than we could ever hope to.

  4. GOD bless these soldiers and all soldiers who serve to protect us all from the forces of evil on this earth!!
    Alway’s hero’s in my book!

  5. The only issue i have with what you said abe is that , they are here amongst us as well so it will not be long after we left all of those countries that our countries wouldl ook like that video. But i would like muchly to agree with you on the “get our troops out of all muslims cesspools immidiatley” and i do in fact .

  6. Well happy St. Nicolaas Day!
It has been 10 years since 9/11 if you haven’t got who you need to get, due to a host of political clap trap all around, then its time to come home.
Steaks and beer would go a long way…
    Cheers
    Hans Rupprecht, Commander in Chief
    1st Saint Nicolaas Army
    Army Group “True North”

  7. The US has refused to deploy tanks(politcal correctness)….the Russians before and the Canucks did…The taliban did to..until the warthogs got them….not just for IEDs/mines…but it is obvious those caves need a bit of direct fire….
    Initially I considered a good old 25 pounder…a real sweet piece…..then the 30mm grenades arrived….a tank on the berm…armour does have it’s place…..

  8. Too bad about the strategy and tactic fiasco. No shame on the excellent material but the ignorance ( due hubris) of the political leaders should never be forgiven.
After ten years it looks like nothing has changed or been learned. Hard to be sympathetic to that.

  9. Abe Froman- agreed; never has there been a worse group in Congress, then now. A whole Congress of LBJs. Pure s!&t.

  10. Hans, I think you are right about the political clap trap, but at the same time I do not think we want to fight them here on our own soil until we have to and it is starting to look like we will have to at some point in the not too distant future. We no longer fight wars in a way that will win them.
Mark, exactly, God bless and keep the men and women in the forces.

  11. Right – here’s the other side of the story, which doesn’t get reported by the MSM:
    http://www.wired.com/dangerroom/2011/11/afghan-mass-attacks/?mbid=ob_ppc_dangerroom
I also watched a “feel-good” documentary (which I didn’t book-mark) about U.S. soldiers getting their exercise by re-supplying – on foot – a observation post on a very high mountain along the Afghani-Pak border. The guys manning the post spoke about watching fire-fights going on at night, in the “Stan” and Paki territory, and they knew that no coalition or ANA forces were involved or even located near the firefights.
This demonstrates that the rats are fighting amongst themselves almost as much as they fight the coalition/ANA. Unfortunately the politicians don’t want the public to know this, or that we kill far, far more of these Islamofascists than they do our soldiers.
And make no mistake, these are stone-age savages following a genocidal cult that demands the murder of all infidels. Or at least the infidels they won’t keep as slaves once the caliphate is re-established. But you can bet that if these savages didn’t have modern nations supplying them with arms, the best they would be able to do against us would be percussion caps and black-powder – because they really are ignorant savages.
The will to give hammering to these cultists won’t come about until the Paki’s or Iran uses a nuclear weapon. And even then the MSM and it’s left-wing enablers will try to talk us out of it…

  12. Silent Night.(ten minutes after Israel takes out Irans nuclear facilities)
I hope I’m up late so I can watch on tv.

  13. And now that our troops are coming home, let’s make damned sure they are not given the usual “thanks and goodbye” treatment by our government, and entrenched bureaucrats.
Canada has a long and inglorious history of giving no support,or very minimal support to the troops when the fighting is over, and this is under governments from BOTH major Parties.
Veteran’s Affairs has been trying to coerce the vets into taking a one-time payout that is shamefully inadequate. These soldiers deserve the same royal treatment the civil servants get, pensions for life if necessary, and damned generous pensions at that!
Don’t be lulled into a false sense of well-being by the fact a Conservative government is in power. Traditionally, neither Party has done more than the bare minimum for our soldiers.
Let’s NOT allow them to do it again.

“The guys manning the post spoke about watching fire-fights going on at night, in the “Stan” and Paki territory, and they knew that no coalition or ANA forces were involved or even located near the firefights.”
Yeah that’s for sure for sure…Afghans are a fractuous lot at the best of times…a country it ain’t.
“But you can bet that if these savages didn’t have modern nations supplying them with arms, the best they would be able to do against us would be percussion caps and black-powder – because they really are ignorant savages.”
Well I have seen guys in Peshwar, using hand tools, on a dirt floor, producing MATCH QUALITY Lee Enfields…so slow process but…
One of the characteristics of Afghans is to heavily rely on captured ordinance and to improvise. One of the Soviet blunders was to deploy SAM 7s(STRELLA)with their troops against an insurgency totally lacking aircraft….yielding AA assets to that insurgency…
If we could consult them, I am reasonably sure both Alexander and Genghis Khan would recommend nuking A-stan….

  15. Well sasquatch, I guess I might reply to the Lee Enfield comment by pointing out that that particular rifle did start out as a black-powder rifle that was adapted over time to modern smokeless ammunition.
Also – did you happen to see any Martini-Henrys for sale by the same smithy?
An accomplishment, for sure, but I would be more impressed if your Peshwar guy could manufacture post-WW 2 semi-auto battle rifles. But he can’t. His level of skill and knowledge of technology restricts him to the production of rifles that started out firing black-powder ammunition in the late 1800’s.
By the way, I still have my sporterized Mk. 4 bought for $60 in 1978. I feel comfortable when firing it. I don’t think I would feel as comfortable firing a Peshwar copy. I kind of like the way my face looks in the mirror…
