Oh boy … the climate believers are out in full force tonight! My measly vote won’t go far so vote!
“My measly vote won’t go far so vote!”
Believe me. These folks are aware of all the subtle changes in stats. They see the groundswell building. For them it’s a premonition of things to come. It’s just nice to rattle their cages.
The question is loaded I couldn’t vote.
“The question is loaded I couldn’t vote.”
Exactly, obviously we are not doing our part to fight climate change, this is good thing which makes Canada the sane voice in a world of loonies.
245 yes at 9:10 pm in Toronto
Like the cornered rat Ken told us about, the jumping, biting and screaming is now in full force from the slime by media and all the SCAM artists who have made a fortune on the stupid of society, scream on CBC, your loaded questions have the validity of a George Strumaplatupus show.
The photograph is clearly showing steam…oops.
It’s a trap!
Don’t know if it’s just SDA readers but the poll results are quickly changing!!!
Defund the CBC, please. Buy bumper stickers for your friends and family:

You know that people in most of the world see the dirty stacks belching steam at 30 below and think it’s pollution. Idiots.
As several above have said, the poll question is loaded. The correct position, of course, is that Canada needs to do nothing at all about “climate change”. But, I voted ‘yes’ to offset the ‘no’ votes.
The first few comments following the poll when I voted are telling CBC in effect, to stuff it.
As others have noted, the ‘question’ is invalid; it’s loaded or ‘begging the question’.
You have to FIRST accept several axioms in the question:
one, that there IS such a thing as ‘climate change’;
two, that Canada/others can prevent/cause it
It’s like the old question of: Are you still beating your wife?…which presumes that you do indeed beat your wife.
The question can’t be answered. Get rid of the CBC.
Good work SDA. When I first caught the poll, the ‘yes’ side was only around 20%.
Loaded question, sure, but, you have to counteract the cult that want to shut down the economy and tax us to death, like Dear Lizard, Dr Fruity, and the rest of the envirowackjobs
The CBC poll question implies Canada should be doing something. AGW is a scam so I don’t want Canada to do a damn thing about so-called global warming. It is not a problem so no action is the correct response.
Unfortunately Canada is still wasting money combating this phantom menace although the Harper government doesn’t seem to have its heart in it. I hope this is a deliberate political strategy to pay lip service to the warmist religion to buy time until the whole scam completes its implosion. Then they can drop it once and for all without incurring serious political damage.
Looking good at 8:44
1.2 billion dollars for the cbc from taxpayers. how much carbon was produced to enable a payment such as 1.2 billion to the cbc? just asking.
The comments are better than the poll result. Well done, my pretties!
The CBC is going to start scheduling extra moderators on friday night. As someone who has 50 percents of his posts censored, I should start saving my comments for the night shift.
ET is right by saying the poll is loaded “It’s like the old question of: Are you still beating your wife?…which presumes that you do indeed beat your wife”.
Good to hear from you, ET.
I’m someone who rarely takes in CBC. The exceptions are occasional AM radio and cbc.ca, but only if linked by SDA.
There are a lot of Canadians with similar views. Would we have a bigger impact if once a week we would organize to get as many people as possible to vote and comment on a particular article? For positive impact, comments need to be respectful and courteous, even though we’re footing the bill for cbc (don’t want to be trolls).
I regularly comment on CBC articles. I refuse to let the LWNJs hijack a forum I support with my taxes. One can see from the comments below the poll, that the AGW aficionados are in a minority. It proves the simple fact that their support is square kilometers wide but only millimeters deep. They can only parrot out-of-date AGW propaganda that’s being rapidly disproved with empirical evidence.
I agree that the question is defective, but Canada is definitely doing it’s part to deal with climate change by developing the oil sands. The primary threat to our existence from climate change is the arrival of a new ice age. By refusing to waste money on watermelon projects Canada is getting prepared to deal with real problems. What I’d like to also see is a greatly enhanced nuclear power production program in Canada so that we have the necessary energy supplies to deal with a cooling climate. A society reliant on “renewable” energy is the least likely to survive natural climate changes as they just don’t have the necessary energy supplies to divert rivers, desalinate seawater, grow large quantities of crops indoors, etc. The greater the energy production capacity of a society, the better prepared it is for anything that nature throws at it.
Seems my comment never made it past the moderator. I checked back after 4 hours.
No foul language used, just stated some facts.
Well said Loki.
A growing body of evidence suggests that the formation of the Isthmus of Panama 2.7 million years ago partitioned the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans and fundamentally changed global ocean circulation. The closing of the Central American Seaway initially may have warmed Earth’s climate, but then set the stage for glaciation in the Northern Hemisphere.
Since then approximately every 100,000 years Earth’s climate warms up temporarily. These warm periods, called interglacial periods, appear to last approximately 15,000 to 20,000 years before regressing back to a cold ice age climate. At year 18,000 and counting our current interglacial vacation from the Ice Age is much nearer its end than its beginning.
Global warming during Earth’s current interglacial warm period has greatly altered our environment and the distribution and diversity of all life. For example:
*Approximately 15,000 years ago the earth had warmed sufficiently to halt the advance of glaciers, and sea levels worldwide began to rise.
*By 8,000 years ago the land bridge across the Bering Strait was drowned, cutting off the migration of men and animals to North America from Asia.
*Since the end of the Ice Age, Earth’s temperature has risen approximately 16 degrees F and sea levels have risen a total of 300 feet! Forests have returned where once there was only ice. http://www.geocraft.com/WVFossils/ice_ages.html
The return of the cold is inevitable. We may or may not be delaying it with the CO2. Hopefully it will give us the time to get small scale nuclear fusion working reliably and safely.
As of this morning the poll results show 60% + believe Canada is doing enough.
The what can be left up to interpretation.
My personal feeling is that by taking every opportunity to point out the fraud in AGW, Canada is doing more to help the cause than the watermelon collective could do in a lifetime.
“watermelon collective” Love it!!
I hope the CBC’s getting the message — but they’re a slow and entitled bunch.
‘Heard the other day from a very reliable source that the CBC building is way under capacity and that the CBC is looking for tenants for their empty spaces. They charge rent, of course, not cheap, I’m certain.
So, on top of their $1.2 billion from the taxpayer, they’er getting advertising revenue and rent monies for space in the CBC Citadel. Like I said earlier, these CBC types are colossally entitled. When do they stop taking the Canadian public to the cleaners?
there are a few other polls on the right hand side of the CBC page that need a few right votes
Wicked witch of the north ?
I like it 🙂
60.15 % yes
38.99 % no as of this posting and most greenies are getting pasted in the comments. There is hope for this country yet.
I don’t know if anyone wants to use the info but it looks to me as though the photo has had some grey tinting added to the steam to make it look like carbon particles are being emitted.
I ran the photo through Photoshopped Image Killer and got back the result
“Photoshop quantization tables found.
Photoshopped: color balance adjusted.”
I wonder why that is?
Wish I had a dollar for every photo seen under a pollution caption that was actually steam. Most newspapers carry this without question.
ROTFLMAO!! This morning the CBC article linked in Kate’s entry has been “updated”. It’s even more strident. Updated by, wait for it, “community team”!!
I think it’s time for some more comments, folks. We’ve got them squirming.
batb at 9:32 AM, we could help them out a bit by firing a few more of the top brass. All those posh, top level offices could then be rented to paying customers, instead of tax sucking leaches. Sounds like a plan to me.
As of 11:50PM, the poll numbers are:
Is Canada doing its part in the global fight against climate change?
Yes 50.8% (2,900 votes)
No 48.27% (2,756 votes)
I’m not sure 0.93% (53 votes)
What’s really interesting, frightening really, are some of the True Believer comments. Some of those folks have really drunk the Kool-Aid.
